lol thx! the guys who owned my house before - their solution was another layer of lino...the kitchen has at least 4 and the bathroom had like 5 (the other thing actually holding the toilet up was the lino - the floor had rotted away because of a leaky plange)

Ohh man, that crazy Linoleum. Our first house had light blue shag carpet... I swear when we rolled that all up it weighed a freakin' ton. Home improvements are fun but a lot of work.

Finished and it was short, sexy and sweet.

Regina, I look forward to hearing what you think about that Molly Harper book. Does she normally write contemporary romance? I know she writes a lot of funny paranormals.

I've only read one book by Linda Howard and it was . It was actually my favorite read of the year the year I read it. I'm not sure why I never read another one of hers, but I need to remedy that soon.

I think the one she recommended was Cry No More. I have a ton of Ms. Howards books, just need to read them. LOL!

I'm almost done with and it's a little slower and very dark but I love getting to know Pippa aka Clown Lady. I hope to finish tomorrow.

We hit a milestone, boys sat thru a whole RiverCats game so we promised them we'd take them to Giants game... Now we've got to pay the piper. lol!

It is good so far. I think this may be her only contemp and she should write more! It is funny. It starts off with a wife discovering her husband is unfaithful. The narration for her audio books are fantastic.

she also has My Bluegrass Baby which is a contemp (and there is a sequel to it coming out in a couple of months)

Both My Bluegrass Baby and and one last thing are available as audio narrated by the very talented Amanda Ronconi.

I wasn't as impressed with My Bluegrass Baby but it was still good. Much better than some of the books I've read lately. Adorkable is brilliant. Very snarky, very smart. Great fun. Loving this book.



I'm also reading Neanderthal Seeks Human which is very good.

It's not always easy interpreting reviews...especially if they're from people you don't know well. I usually look at their average rating and if the rating is higher it's a plus...less and it's a minus.

But I also have this number in my head (3.75 Stars) and I figure anything above that is worth considering...lol, but anything above 4.5 Stars worries me, it starts to look like hype or even worse manipulation of the ratings system.

Hi ladies! Sorry that I've been MIA (sometimes I forget to check this thread with all the challenges and what not.)

I'm a Linda Howard fan. I don't love each and every of her books but she writes good romantic suspense. I'm talking from a mystery and romance reader perspective here...I think she finds a good balance between the two without making the plot ridiculous, which is a big problem I have with romantic suspense in general. She also writes lots of standalones so she's great when you don't want to invest in a series.

I LOVED Cry No More but the topic is very rough, specially for mothers (it deals with child abductions.) I cried for two hours straight of the audiobook (for real.)

She can also write funny romantic suspense (usually character based). I laughed a lot with these two: Mr. Perfect and Open Season.

I'm reading and it's getting better but so far, is very average. The beginning was very convoluted and I almost gave up on it. If I hadn't needed an audio to tie me over while I wait for my pre-order of Kiss of a Demon King, I would have dnfed it.

I'm also re-reading The Great Gatsby, which is a book I loved. I tried listening to the audio but I didn't like any of the narrations so I went back to print.

I'm also reading and don't know what to think of it so far. I'm sort of getting tired of traumatized teens. Contemporary YA and New Adult seem just chock full of them.

Regina, so glad you're reading the Experiment in Terror books! I can't to know what you think about the books, and especially Dex & Perry!

I needed a palate cleanser after - I was NOT happy with that book!!!

So I picked up a couple of "quickies" - tee hee... and . I got the 1st one for, like, 99 cents, I think. The 2nd one I saw some reference to the author somewhere (here?) and thought it sounded good. It was a really good book, IMO; very thoughtful and not all about the "steam". And really, how bad can a book about NY firefighters who happen to fall in love with one another (m/m0 be, anyway?

Into right now... hoping that I won't be disappointed. This book is dark, but it doesn't feel as heavy as "City of Fallen Angels" did; that book felt like all gloom-doom, secrets, and lies until the BIG SCENE... and then it just freaked me out. I was screaming out of frustration and ill will at the end of that book! But "Clockwork Prince" seems to be building, in a good way; I'm really hoping for a few answers in that particular 3-book arc in this book. That was my biggest beef with the 1st in the TID book - no real answers to the mystery of Tessa and what The Magister wants.
