April Toppler Methods of Selection
I was told to pick the book that's been on my TBR shelf the longest. That is Alanna: The First Adventure. It even fits into my alphabet challenge if I can get it together to finish two more books before Saturday. :)
The one that's been on my TBR list longest. Yay! It's the one I really wanted to read. This is Not a Test
Random.org picked Stop walking on eggshells : coping when someone you care about has borderline personality disorder for me, so it looks as if I'll be learning something new next weekend.
I got book that has been on your shelf the longest. However, now I need to go home and stare at the books, as I sat at home one day with my barcode scanner and scanned in every book I owned at once. Now I can't remember which ones I *owned* first, not goodreads shelved first.#firstworldproblems.

I might be able to get a second book in but will only check another method once I finish my first book :)"That's great! I would have realized that immediately if my brain wasn't on empty. At least I'll have this week to recharge :) I hope you enjoy your first book!
Woo hoo.... i just picked my method and am excited! ;) Now to go look at the books and see which one fits the method! Curious what the other methods are, but I"m not looking yet just encase a miracle happens and I finish this one quickly and get to pick another... HA!! :)Okay....
The Loomis the book that fits my method.... it is the shortest book on my list! :)
Now for the real bookI got book with lowest number of ratings
Covert Reich
Hope I can actually finish it
just noticed the explicit warnings
Love the fruit machine!!! It selected the random.org method for me which selected the third book on my list, Nemesis. YAY!!!
Connie wrote: "Oh, Shirley, warnings might be like the forbidden fruit and make your book more enticing. *wink*"I was the child who obeyed and was brought up Pentecostal so I don't usually look for this kind of read but the subject matter would certainly warrant it.
I used a dice throw to decide mine and came out with the shortest book, so had two choices so on the decision of a coin toss my first Toppler book will be Mr. Wilson's Cabinet Of Wonder: Pronged Ants, Horned Humans, Mice on Toast, and Other Marvels of Jurassic Techno logy :-)
I got the book that has been on my shelf longest. Dead in the Family
Not my favorite series but I feel like I've invested so much time in it already that I want to finish it! But then again once I finish one I usually decide it wasn't half bad after all. Just seems like I have a hard time getting started with them I guess.

I´ve picked the method where another toppler-participant is supposed to choose my book for me. Any volunteers :-)?
Alexandra wrote: "I´ve picked the method where another toppler-participant is supposed to choose my book for me. Any volunteers :-)?"I picked that method too Alexandra. I think we are the only 2 people to get that method so far. I would be happy to pick your book for you if you would like me to? :)
I just realised that I might have a problem though as I did create my list after the 7th. JMom, can I still participate in the toppler or have I been too late (I would completely understand that - rules are rules).

Alexandra wrote: "Thank you, Lisa. I would definitely like you to pick a book for me :-)."I know you are not 100% sure if you will be participating Alexandra but I went ahead and picked a book for you anyway. I chose Daughter of Smoke & Bone as it was the one that drew me in the most. I really hope you enjoy it! :)
Thank you very much, Lisa! I was secretly hoping for this one :-)... If I can not participate in the Toppler, I will read it anyway this weekend...

Is use numpty in a fun way when someone does something funnily stupid, its not meant to offend.
No, you've not got it wrong Connie. I love the word numpty! As Sharon said, you mainly hear it in jest.
Connie, I hereby challenge you to use the (fab) word numpty in your conversation in the next 24 hours. Only by using words do they live.
teeheehee.

I'm in a good mood today, so you're welcome to participate :~) And the way I set up the methods, nothing was given away beforehand to give you an advantage.
I will attempt the word of the day...One of my clients ran out of blank cheques and I ran some over to her. She took one look at the cheques I handed her and said, "I don't think I can use these." They were cheques for another company. I guess I'm the numpty one today.
I got the shortest book, which means I'll be reading Story of a Comfort Girl. Glad I have the short one first. I might actually get it done during the challenge!

Pragya wrote: Oh, there's a method like that? Wow, sounds good...I'm a day behind everyone else on checking in, but here I am now. My prescribed method is the one that Lisa got too - to pick a toppler participant and then that person picks what you will read from your list.
Pragya, will you pick a book for me? I liked your enthusiasm for this method so thought I'd ask you :)
I'm glad I am expanding your vocab everyone. Numpty fitted a little better though above, but another one for the day is the Aussie version of numpty, which is "dag". But that one comes from a from an object that is not so nice to read while eating, so you know... forewarned.

Wow! Thank you so much for the honor, TJ. I love picking books for others to read. :)
I choose for you - The Ten Thousand Things. Hope you like it.
I have a question, if we manage to read our first book how do we go about choosing the second? Do we use the same method as before? Also since I had two options for my shortest read (my first chosen method) do I just read the other one for my second book and go for another method (decided by the dice roll)?

Thanks Pragya! Looking forward to reading this. A used paperback version is on its way to me from Amazon. Supposed to be here by tomorrow. Hope so!

Can't answer the second bit Sam, but my understanding is you choose one of the other methods if you finish the first book, as you shouldn't have looked at them before, and therefore it's still "random".
Right Jmom?
