I think Tina Kay and Liade were the ones next wanting to read it, right?

Ha, great minds and all that... I had thought to set up a topic like that, too.

1. Johanna (Finland)[owner]
2. Katharina (Germany)[current location]
3. Calathea (Germany)
4. ...
5. ...

This is how the books started their journey:
Aleks (UK) started it all by sending As Meat Loves Salt to Caroline (UK) and Caroline then sent the book to me (Finland). Next it's going to travel to Anne (Norway) and Pender (Canada).
I wanted to join in by offering to send my Every Time I Think of You to someone. Katharina (Germany) was interested and now when she has read the book she's going to send it to Calathea (Germany). Next in line are Tina Kay (US) and Liade (Germany)... because the book is currently in Germany, you guys might want to rethink the sending order there...
So, they are literally traveling books. I also recall Aleks calling them communal books (or something equally apt...) at some point.
Anyway, if anyone of you are interested in reading either one of them, just holler on this topic. Or if anyone wants to send their beloved book travelling, that would be wonderful, too!

Thanks, Calathea! That is the proper way to do it (with the list)!

That reminds me, that maybe we should add the country it is in to find a good route for the book around the world. :)

I am happy to switch to make the transition easier and cheaper. You lovely people may place my anywhere in lineup that's most helpful to the cause. :-)

Would the notebook travel with the book or would that be separate?

I think it would travel separately, in case someone wanted one and not the other. Then they don't have to pay ..."
There are a lot of smart, intelligent, and talented people here. I am both intrigued and intimidated by the journal. Maybe I'll just stick a picture of a pony in it.

That's a nice idea. :-)
I think I actually have the notebook we can use here with me already. I'll scribble something in it at first and then I'll send it to you, Juthi. How does that sound? ;-)
And when it has travelled enough, I think we should finally send it to Mr. Josh. What do you guys think?

Sounds great!! Count me in :-D
I can bore you with all the angst I came up with during my depressive phase last year. Yay! :-D

In fact I wanted to take with me to the Manchester Meet some print books I won't read a second time and put them on a table to take for free, but near a box for offers for the Albert Kennedy Trust.
Not horrible books, just books I've read once and didn't find so special. I positively know they would be appreciated. For ex. I've got the first two books of the Deviations Series Submission and Domination. But I could try to sort out my library and find some more giveaways.

If only I'd known about the notebook I'd have included a poem with As Meat loves Salt!
Apologies for my relative silence I'd been sitting on my hands since the news that Amazon is taking over GR. Am off to the West of Ireland tomorrow where there is no internet or at least not where we're going.
Juthi wrote: "Johanna wrote: "And when it has travelled enough, I think we should finally send it to Mr. Josh. What do you guys think?"
Yes, that's what I was thinking too! You can send it to me next but do you..."
Okay. If you don't mind waiting a bit for The Traveling Notebook, I'll send it first to Katharina (since I already have her address) so she can pour her angst into it. LOL. Maybe Katharina could then send it to Caroline so she can write her poem in it.
I think it's a good idea to have the notebook make rounds here in Europe first. Anyway, whoever gets to write/draw in it later on is definitely the lucky one. Being the first wasn't as much fun because I don't get to see what you others have written...
I was actually thinking that we could take the notebook with us to Manchester in July... that might be fun.

The Traveling Notebook is on the road. Just copy the list and put your name in it so that one before you knows where to send it next and can contact you to get the address.

UK GLBT Fiction meet 2013. Lots of our European branch will meet there. :)

JOSH WILL SEE THIS???? Damn. Now I need a really special pony pic.
Sweat is breaking out on my brow trying to think of what I can add to this traveling notebook. :-D I can't wait to see what everyone else puts in there.

That is a fantastic idea, Johanna! I don't mind waiting until mid-summer to get my hands on it... especially if it means this.

About the Travelling Books:
Every Time I Think of You is on its way to Calathea :-D
And the notebook is already here with me - Caroline, could you give me your address, so I can send it to you? Thanks!!

Ui, that really was quick :-D I took advantage of the fact that I couldn't do much work today because NOTHING WAS WHERE IT WAS NEEDED - Gods, I hate those kinds of days - and wrote in the notebook instead. So as soon as I have Caroline's address off it goes!

Well, you were fast, too! :-)
I actually have Caroline's address, because Aleks has written it on the notecard that travels inside the As Meat Loves Salt. Do you think she would mind if I'd write it to you in PM and the notebook would be waiting for her when she comes back from Ireland as a surprise? Would that be creepy or nice?

Any suggestions on what book to do this with?

A great idea! I have been looking at my (few) physical m/m books, wondering if any would be worthy of being a travelling book. I have a few older copies of Mel Keegan's books I'd be willing to send out into the world, but otherwise my m/m is mostly electronic.
I'd LOVE to read Fadeout or Death Trick to see if I want to work at trying to find the remaining books in these series. I've read that the digital is either unavailable or poorly done for at least one of these series.

That's a lovely idea, Tina. Of the two books that are traveling already Every Time I Think of You is quite fast to read, but reading As Meat Loves Salt is definitely taking more time (so I assume that the latter one is going to be a slow traveller).

Oh, I'm sorry Johanna, for some reason I got no notification that you had replied in this thread :(
Hmm, I'd think I'd lean on the side of nice, too... Or should we wait? It is in a rather save haven here with me ;D
Btw - I'd so love to see the notebook when it's all filled up. Do you think there will be a possibility of seeing it again? Say, at a meet next year or so? (It probably won't be full already at this year's, right?)
ETA: You are so good at drawing, Johanna, I'm really envious!

I've been having those "no notification" problems too with some of our threads.
Exactly my thoughts. It would be so nice to see the notebook again after several of us have written in it. And yes, it's likely to take more than one round to fill it up. JOSH, DO NOT READ THIS SPOILER! (view spoiler)
Ach, and about the drawing... it's nothing, really. I was in a hurry to have the notebook on its way, so I decided to doodle something small for the upcoming H&M 3. :-)

Oh, that would be lovely!! Super idea! And I'll just have to chime in at the end once more, to see it once again, LOL. I'll try something more upbeat then (although my contribution actually isn't all that angsty, IMO ;D)! Maybe one of the (really dreadful) love poems I've written for my husband when I got to know him. LOL.

Fine by me. I'm kinda relaxed about things being shared around this group.
Tina Kay wrote: JOSH WILL SEE THIS???? Damn. Now I need a really special pony pic."
And I'm not sure I have a poem that's suitable either. What sort of thing are people planning to put into the notebook? My poems are usually sad. Ah I've just got to the end of the thread and seen that Katharina's might be angsty - that sounds good to me.
Caroline wrote: "Johanna wrote: I actually have Caroline's address, Do you think she would mind if I'd write it to you in PM and the notebook would be waiting for her when she comes back from Ireland as a surprise?..."
Welcome back, Caroline! How was Ireland? :-)
Well, the way I see the Traveling Notebook is that we can fill it up with almost anything: stories, poems, quotes, letters, words, drawings, paintings, photos, journals, lyrics, tickets, dried plants, recipes, crochet patterns... whatever you guys come up with.
In the end it'll have all these glimpses of our lives inside it, right? Lots of little moments, mementos, from around the world and of our the every day lives. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or anything especially cheerful.
I find it fascinating that each of us will make a small mark of ourselves on its pages. No matter what our mood is or what the situation is whenever the notebook finds us.
I also like the idea of you all holding the notebook in your hands at some point. It makes me smile to think how you will find the postal package in your mailboxes and that the notebook probably makes you grin when you browse through it. Do you sit by your dinner table when you read it? Or maybe lie in the hammock?
Thank you again, Juthi, for this idea. :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. I better make up my mind on what book to start traveling... by the time I finally do the other books will be over on this side of the world. :-D
I'd like to read Fadeout too. I'll put that on the list. Any other suggestions before I start my traveling book shopping? :-)
