For those not in the Fadeout discussion yet, I will have a print copy of Death Claims by the end of next week that I won't need. I'm willing to send it out to anyone who needs a readable print copy. Just let me know and I'll ship it out. It's not the latest edition but was marked as brand new and never read.

Calathea | 6034 comments I apologize for holding back the Travelling Notebook so long. It was a bit of a 'rabit in front of the snake' situation, and make no mistake, the rabit is me... :(

To makeit short: Any takers in Germany or Europe in general before it crosses the big water again? Who's next in line? :)

Tina | 380 comments So where is the traveling notebook at the moment? I haven't been around Goodreads much lately, but it seems every time I stop by I ask where the notebook is. :-D I think I'm afraid I'm going to miss my turn.

Good to see you here, Tina! And oh yes, it'll soon be your turn to turn the pages of the Traveling Notebook! :-)

Here is the latest travel plan for it:

Anne (Norway) [current location]
Karen (US)
(view spoiler)
Reggie (US)
Tina (US)
Joe (US)
...
Jordan (US)

So, Tina, if you'll PM Reggie your address, you won't miss your turn for sure! :-)

By the way, if your name isn't in the list yet and you would like to write something in our Traveling Notebook feel free to add your name and country to the list!

The Traveling Notebook started its journey from Finland last April and here it is on my hotel room bed in Manchester (a pic I already posted on General News on July).

Hi Fehu!

There is a Journal going around. Here are the intial comments. And it went to the Summer UK meet so people could add to it.

Fehu wrote: "OK, now I'm curious what books are traveling in Europe or to Europe???"

Thank you, Reggie, for clarifying! :-)

And Fehu, I was thinking that if the group members in US and Canada are through writing/drawing/glueing in the Notebook before next June, we Europeans could take the Notebook again with us to the UK Meet in the beginning of June.

ETA: Or better yet... if Jordan is coming to the UK Meet she can bring the Notebook with her to Bristol!

I love that cover. Thanks for posting the pic again!

Add me to the list! I'm in the US... And planning to attend the UK Meet, so I could potentially bring it with me if it's hanging out in the states still.

Errm - well it beats bubble-wrap I guess but the sewing is far from accomplished! I very nearly took it apart again after I'd finished as you can see the stitches! However it needed to be on its way to Juthi in Canada. The pattern is gorgeous - it's called 'Storm at Sea'.

Really pleased you're coming to the UK Jordan. I probably won't get to the UK meet but would be lovely to see you.

Okay all, I just purchased The Charioteer audio cassette as a holiday gift to the traveling books!

Amazon claims it's new but shipping will take forever and I won't get it until mid-January. Boo! But yay that we're getting it!

Soon as I get a listen, I'll send it on to the next person who wants it, but let's not start that list until I have said product in my possession.

After Josh keeps The Traveling Notebook with him as long as he wishes, it'll continue traveling to

4. Jordan (US)

Feel free to add your names to the list, everyone, if you want the Notebook traveling your way. :-)

Anyway, Jordan is going to bring the Notebook to UK Meet in the beginning of June, so people can read it and write in it in Bristol.

Maybe someone could tentatively pencil me in for sometime after the UK Meet and we'll see where things are (where I am, really) as the time gets closer. I'm going to be moving, but I expect to be settled somewhere by that time, so I imagine it will be fine. Is that alright? :)

I would love to go the Meet! However, I'll be in New Zealand, which is even farther away from the UK than I currently am, so I'll be missing out this time. There's no rush on scheduling me in, so whoever wants to take it home after the Meet is welcome to do so. I'm just throwing my interest into the fray. :)

Maybe I could take the Notebook home after the Meet in June and then send it to you to New Zealand?

How soon are you moving, Alison? Because we could also squeeze (*grin*) you in the list between Tina and Jordan. I'm not sure if Joe is still interested in having the Notebook. Joe, are you there, lurking in the shadows? :-)

message 192: by Matthias (new)

Matthias Williamson (matthiasw) | 340 comments I am a seriously horrible person. I have had the book for months on end. In the time since I received the book, I got half way through and then we moved. I packed the book in a box and just found it again last Friday night.

I am probably the worst person ever to be involved in a traveling book thingie... So, I'll get the book and finish it and tell me who to send it on to. I live in Long Beach, California now... so, who am I sending it to next?

Hello there, dear Joe! We missed you! How are you? You guys moved — cool! Was it because your boyfriend got a new job there (or maybe I don't remember this correctly...)? :-)

We aren't talking about the same book though, because I'm talking about The Traveling Notebook (a sort of diary) that has been traveling from a group member to another. The Notebook that finally found its way to Josh this week. Josh has kindly promised to send it on its way again after he has had time to read it. Reggie is the next person on that list, followed by Tina. And then it would be your turn.

Which one of the books do you have? And DO NOT worry about any delays! This is supposed to be something fun to do together — we don't want anybody to take any stress what so ever about these books!

message 194: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (carolinedavies) | 568 comments Well back Joe and like Johanna says don't beat yourself up about whichever book it is. Long Beach, California sounds so glamorous.

Matthias Williamson (matthiasw) | 340 comments Johanna wrote: "Which one of the books do you have? And DO NOT worry about any delays! This is supposed to be something fun to do together — we don't want anybody to take any stress what so ever about these books! "

It's The General & the Horse-Lord. Oh, I feel better. So, if someone is expecting the book I can send it on.

Actually it's the same job he's always had we just moved out of the "hell-mouth" our horrible home in the boonies to an amazing apartment in Bixby Knolls which is about 15 mins from his job and 23 from mine. Before where we were living, we were spending about $1000 a month on gasoline and I nearly lost my job because of all the times I was late.

So, moving was an awesome thing. I'm doing great, I'm finally looking for beta readers for a book I wrote and life is great. I'd be honored to get the notebook for Josh, and I hope to be more attentive to stuff around here, I've missed all of you as well.

It's great to hear from you, Joe! Your new home sounds wonderful. Congratulations on that and your book, too.

And so nice to hear that you still like to have the Traveling Notebook visiting you. :-)

About the The General and the Horse-Lord by Sarah Black — who would like to have it after Joe finishes reading it?

We are trying to sort out exactly when we are moving at the moment actually. We have so far managed to narrow it down to April or May (progress!), so I think it's probably safer to wait until later for my turn. So yes, Johanna, you may send it to me after the Meet, if you like. :)

So this is where The Notebook will travel after Josh:

1. Reggie (US)
2. Tina (US)
3. Joe (US)
4. Jordan (US)
---> The UK Meet in Bristol 6th-8th June
5. Johanna (Finland)
---> anyone else in Europe?
6. Alison (New Zealand)

I'm glad to send the Notebook to Alison to New Zealand, but if others here in Europe want to have the book before it'll travel that loooooong way to Alison, feel free to add your names in the list. I'm guessing that Alison will be the one who'll then send The Traveling Notebook back to North America. :-)
