I was actually written into a book as a small-role supporting character and the author used a period appropriate version of my name. I was an "ex-mistress" to the hero! Very fun.
I have an extremely common name that is spelled a ton of different ways, although my spelling isn't the most common. I never take it personally if a character happens to have one of those versions and is nasty.

Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot! Her name is actually Amelia, but everyone just calls her Mia

[b..."
Holy crap! That's awesome. I shall now have to add her to my reading list. Thanks for the heads up!

If you guys know anyone named Celia who feels left out, that's the title of my book.

My name's Olivia, just imagine the joy I had when I learned there was a whole series of picture books written about Olivia The Pig. They are actually some of my favorite, considering I was just reading when they came out. I've also been told that I resemble her personality traits. It'd be strange if it was because I read those at a young age o_O

I've read one it's Inkheart except it's just Meg. There's also one called A Kid Named Megan that I haven't read but I would presume.. :)

My other friend, Chantilly White, wrote one of her latest with the heroine of Mia!

Oh, my sister has Inkheart :) I've always hated being called Meg haha, I guess that's why I didn't think of it.
And I'll have to check it out :) thankyou!

The Princess Diaries. Technically her name is Amelia but she likes being called Mia.

I've read of Cora's and variations of my name (like Coraline. Thanks Neil Gaiman for ensuring that everyone I meet spells my name wrong) but never a Cora Linn.
I'm named after a waterfall, and artists and writers have been inspired by it (Wordsworth also spelled it wrong, Cora instead of Corra) but no one seems to have used the name.

Have you tried the Stephanie Plum series? She is one the best characters I have read in a while. Shw would defiantly be my best friend lol.

My name is Marta, there is only one book I remember right now, an Icelandic children's book called Marta Smarta. It was okay and I didn't have a problem with the character, but I hated it when people I don't know well started calling me that name to be 'friendly'. I'm really happy that it wasn't a very popular book and the name calling died down eventually.

'hopeless' by Colleen hoover has the main character as hope..

But when you have a common first and last name (Sharon Crawford) what do you do do promote your book? Especially when there is an esteemed author of computer books with the same name and you aren't a computer expert but get mixed up with her? I did what my publisher suggested - added my middle initial to make it Sharon A. Crawford for Beyond the Tripping Point.
Cheer.
Sharon A.
I am trying to start writing a book (I am only 17 and it's scary). This thread is great for name suggestions for my main and supporting characters. I was leaning toward Meghan or Megan for the main character before I even saw this conversation, and now I feel like this is confirmation.
