Kirsten (kmcripn) Yesterday, I started (and finished) reading The Race Of Scorpions The Race Of Scorpions (A Lady Serpent Egyptian Murder Story) by James Goss by James Goss. It was a really good mystery (but short - only 66 pages) set in Ancient Egypt in the reign of Akhenaten (King Tut's dad!)

I also continued reading Middlemarch Middlemarch by George Eliot by George Eliot and continued listening to Portobello Portobello by Ruth Rendell by Ruth Rendell

I finished listening to Burying Water by K.A. Tucker and enjoyed it. Two narrators were used for the main characters, which helps a lot, even though the female narrator was a bit weak. Review to come.

I'm now listening to Thrilled to Death by L.J. Sellers, Detective Jackson #3.

You know I'm not a fan of serials but this one is so good & well written. Very dark, intense, heart-wrenching read. I loved it. Read all 5 in one evening.

I'm sucked into another BDB...I keep waiting to come to the one that I won't like but it's just not happening. Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward is turning out to be another great one for me. I am still amazed at how many different threads/plots Ward can manipulate all within the same book & keep every single one of them intense, exciting, & moving forward. Wow!

Thanks! I am enjoying! But then, I've enjoyed them all thus far. Phury's book was a favorite for me - I had feared starting it as I had heard that some didn't like it. I loved it! Ward continues to amaze me.

Phury's was the only one I had issues with. I think you're going to love everything else going forward as the stories become even more layered with multiple storylines in motion.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Good to hear. And I loved Phury's story even though I didn't expect to. His ended up being one of my favorites. The multi story lines are amazing...because Ward pulls it off. It could easily be a jumbled up mess. Really turning into one of my fav series.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15062 comments Mod
I love all those brilliantly woven stories in one book. Some criticize her for doing so, mostly those who prefer to have one, dominant romance. Her way makes for a much richer story.

message 2534: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Exactly. It would be different if she dropped the ball on one of them but she doesn't. I find each piece/plot brilliantly done, easy to follow, intense, & it all keeps me reading as fast as I can. It's like bonus books within a book.

Every book going forward is at least 540 pages so settle in and enjoy:)

Hey, I'm in that miserable camp of people who have to wait for the next book's release. There's a downside to being current:)

I remember how the stories would linger in my head for weeks after I'd finished. Miss those days.

message 2538: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I don't know if I'm different, but I just didn't get much out of Phury. My favorites are Zsadist/Bella and Rehvenge/Ehlena.

Yesterday, I listened to "A Christmas Tree" in Christmas Short Stories Christmas Short Stories by Charles Dickens by Charles Dickens.

I also continued reading Island of Vice: Theodore Roosevelt's Doomed Quest to Clean up Sin-loving New York Island of Vice Theodore Roosevelt's Doomed Quest to Clean up Sin-loving New York by Richard Zacks by Richard Zacks

Dawn | 3250 comments Sandra...I completely agree with Jonetta on your reading future. Once you get past Phurry's book, there is non stop addiction to the stories. I cannot wait until you get caught up to The King. I am in wait mode for The Shadows.

Well, Dawn...I'm certainly doomed then because I have absolutely loved every book through Lover Avenged. I can't imagine loving any book of the series more than those I've already read. Yay for me! Lots to look forward to. And I will have to say again...I Loved Phury & his story!!!

Hooked me also but I have adhered to my one-a-month plan...not easy as good as these are! But then, I have several awesome series going at once & want to finish them all. :)
