It seems every thread I read about books you're reading in every group I participate in leads me to more series that I must read...I'm adding Alden to the list but I don't know when I'll get to it. Doesn't anyone ever write standalone novels anymore?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15063 comments Mod
Lol! At least this one is just a trilogy. The first two are closely connected but the third isn't, which is why it's still straggling out there on my TBR shelf.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Well, a trilogy I might can live with. There are some series with 10 or more books that I want to read but jeez...it's a big time commitment and once I'm hooked, there's no stopping.

Maggie | 1576 comments Just starting Wanting You by Becca Siller. I actually won this book in a Goodreads giveaway a couple weeks ago.

Always happy to win a book! I won a signed, personalized copy of Forged In Steele from Maya Banks and felt like it was Christmas! lol

message 206: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 1576 comments I hope I like it! I received a letter with the book asking that I please review it when I'm done reading it. I would feel terrible if I didn't like it.

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments I'm starting Sanctuary Island by Lily Everett. Looking forward to it!

I know but you have to be honest or the review really doesn't do any good. It's hard sometimes, especially when you don't like a book.

I haven't read this one or the author before...tell me it's a standalone, please?

message 210: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments It's a pseudonym name for Louisa Edwards. It's the first book in trilogy. But you can read it as a standalone.

I'm beginning to think of trilogies & series as ugly words! lol My problem will be NOT having to read the rest if I like the first...I'm addicted, you see.

message 212: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments Lol that's me too. Most of my books now seem to be part of a series of some sort.

Honestly, I think all of mine are. The last time I read a standalone book, it was Nora's last standalone. Thank goodness, she still puts them out. Of course, she does trilogies too!

Her next release is a trilogy haha! Though I'm very interested in it. I love her paranormal stuff.

Ditto! I want my own personal library. Now I need to win a lottery to make it come true.

message 219: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Oh that illusive lottery. I keep saying you can't win if you don't have a ticket...so I get one..still haven't won but I guess I had a shot! Seriously, I spend a bunch of money on books...it's my weakness. In my Christmas stocking, I tell my guys to fill it with Amazon & Bookstore gift cards so I can pick out books.

Michelle had posted a quote from Summer Island by Kristin Hannah. I was intrigued so I checked it out from the library. Well, lets just say that the large sucking sound was me getting completely taken in by a wonderful author. I finished Summer Island, then read "Magic Hour "and now reading "Between Sisters". All within a week. I want to read all of hers this year. Also think I want to read some of NR's first books, ie: The MacGregors. That qualifies as classic lit, right? ;)

message 227: by [deleted user] (new)

oops I left out "On Mystic Lake" as the 3rd one of Hannah's that I read this week!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments I'm reading through Kristan Higgins's books in publication order (after reading My One and Only out of order). I was looking for an author similar to Julie James, whose books I LOVE! Kristan Higgins isn't QUITE the same... she's more chick-lit, but I REALLY like her books so far! I've read 4 and have the others checked out on my Kindle! I especially loved My One and Only and Just One Of The Guys! YAY!

I need to look into Nora's MacGregors series.... are they historical or contemporary? I bet my mom has the Kindle versions....

I'm here Donna! For LJ's romance/suspense, I started with No Mercy..of course, it's written under her pen name Lori Armstrong. It's the first in her Mercy Gunderson mysteries. Really gritty, tough heroine. Here's a link to those books http://www.loriarmstrong.com/mgnomerc...

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments Oh my... there are quite a lot of these MacGregor people!! ;) Okay, someone help me out here. What order should I read them in? The series info on GR is NOT helpful.

message 239: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2656 comments Hey Chef
Glad i could help find a new author. I've done that as well; fall in love with a quote which then makes me curious & . . . But with my shelves groaning under the stress of more add on I'm just glad for GR ! My virtual shelf endures far better and I don't have that problem of next paycheck having to remember the author or book , I can just click and find ;-))

message 240: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15063 comments Mod
Here's the reading order:
Playing the Odds
Tempting Fate
All the Possibilities
One Man’s Art
For Now Forever
Rebellion
In From the Cold
The MacGregor Brides
The Winning Hand
The MacGregor Grooms
The Perfect Neighbor

message 241: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments Okay, that's what I got from Nora's booklist and it looks like they reprinted them...

Serena & Caine = 1 & 2
Alan & Grant = 3 & 4
Daniel & Ian = 5 & 7
Robert & Cybil = 9 & 11

with Rebellion not making the cut, apparently, and then the Brides/Grooms ones separate.

The reissues confuse me sometimes. I'll be looking at paperbacks & see a different cover from Nora & grab it, of course. But, I've learned, a lot of the books are reissued in new combos/covers. Have to look at the stories inside. The good news is most of them are good quick reads. I flew through them.

message 243: by Susan (new)

Susan I always go just inside the front cover to the publisher's legal page. I will always give you the date of the original publication.

Good idea, Susan. I don't have a problem with it anymore because I know I've read all of them. So I just wait for new releases.

I hope the link works. I use them alot when I'm trying to figure out the order of a series.

Thanks so much! I will check that one out. I think I'm gonna like this group! Some of the chat just says what I'm thinking.

Hello, my name is Donna, and I am a Reading Addict. Addicted to the sight, smell, colors, feel of books, whether they be paperback, hardback, digital back, and so on. I love books! Thanks for listening! I'll go read now....
