I finished One in a Million by Jill Shalvis and loved it. It's the final book in the series so it's bittersweet.
I'm now reading All Good Deeds by Stacy Green.

From Crais' website:
"RC has optioned the rights to his best-selling novel, SUSPECT, to Fox 2000 for an adaptation to be produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, the producers behind THE HUNGER GAMES film franchise."

I've got his Elvis Cole series but haven't started yet.

Penni - I actually rarely find similarities between the two. I don't know if it's Susan Ericksen's incredible performance, but every Nora Roberts book I've read is incredibly flat with a complete lack of chemistry compared to the In Death series.
Not that they aren't good. If I'd never been exposed to Eve & Roarke & friends, I'd probably enjoy them a lot more. But once you've had steak, ground beef just isn't as satisfying.
Or maybe I should say, once you've had Argentine Gold coffee, you just can't stand instant.
Penni - Nora has some really good standalone romance/suspense books. Hot Rocks is not one of my favorites - it's okay but there are some that are much better, imo.

I don't read Nora Roberts, and actually, don't intend to start. This particular book was written as the prequel to Big Jack, an indeath novella, so maybe that's why I see the similarities. Or perhaps as I said the narrator and the cadence. But there are terms used - pulling threads for instance, that I hear a lot in the in death books. Also, just the way the descriptions are done, the flow of the book, the sex scenes (there's a way she does them that doesn't invoke just the sex, but the feelings/emotions/something more), the characters - foil of good to bad (in reverse in this case) - there are similarities to me.
Overall, I am enjoying it so far. I think it will be interesting to have the background from this story when I get to Big Jack. But, Nora is not anything that I will pursue after this. And I wasn't really trying to compare them in quality/interest/content - but just that they both feel to me to be written by the same author. And curious what makes people think she hasn't written all the in death books herself, as I have never gotten that impression.
It makes sense that it feels that way, I guess. It is the same person! :)
I enjoyed Hot Rocks & I love most of Nora's books. The characters are always well connected...the emotional tug is there as is the chemistry although she doesn't exploit it but does use it. I always come away feeling like I "know" her characters & usually love them.

And there are what - 5000 of them? I need to stay away, just stay far away LOL
I'm not even half way through in death yet. But I am making good progress!
Big Jack and then Divided before the end of the month...
Over 200+ but the biggest part of them are Standalones, Penni! :) That's the good news! And a few are trilogies.

Oh well, ONLY 200. Not a problem then lol.
I finished Hot Rocks or the first part of Remember When however you want to look at it and have started into

Just finished Suspect

It was not just a really good mystery/thriller, it probably deserved 3.5 stars for that storyline alone. But add in the dog and relationship building and it shot up like a rocket!

@Lisa - How is Dark Witch? I've been thinking of checking out that series.

I remember that ending. You just had to go with your imagination.
