What are you reading?
Started listening to
(in the dentist's chair), started reading
on my Kindle, and continued reading
from the library yesterday.
I just read about eight "In Death" books in a row, so I'm casting a wide net as a palate cleanser before I dive back in. I've started
(really well written, and very interesting so far if you are interested in golden era Hollywood),
(freaking hilarious, not your typical paranormal romance), and
(about to start it).
Have taken your recommendations and about to start Don't Tell by Karen Rose and reading Winter of the World.
ok finished reading Watch Your Back and all I can say is WOW. I thought Did you Miss me was intense, watch Your Back was even more so.now I am a little sad..I have finished all the books and the next one does not come out until February. now I wil continue the New Orleans series by Lisa Jackson
I'm reading Rock, Rattle & Roll by Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn. I'm listening to Holy Frigging Matrimony: A Tangled Series Short Story by Emma Chase.
has any of you Karin Slaughter readers ever read Necessary Women and The Mean Time. they sound pretty good but I can't find it anywhere. I figure they only come in ebook. Wasn't sure if any of you might have read them
I was very conflicted regarding my feelings with this book. Great beginning and latter half. Middle tedious, immature at times BUT at the mid point the author finally got it right and the book was funny, sexy with a twist at the end. Max the hero is very sexy and alpha male but I think the author did an injustice to the character by having him appear less intelligent than he is. He is actually very smart and intuitive, but his speech pattern was strange (not sure she was trying to portray how mountain men talk). I liked it a lot though. I laughed really hard in parts. The supporting casts are extremely funny. I am glad I read it. I will definitely read book 2. Hope this helps. I am actually going on a bit.

Thanks, Paula. One of these days I'll get to it.

Great description, Paula. I have found KA often gets a little long & drawn out (my early reactions were they could use editing & shortened) - and as you said, tedious in the middle with very alpha, sexy heroes that may appear slightly less intelligent then they are. But I usually come out at the end really enjoying them. Creed is one of my favorites - this one gets intense & heartbreaking at times.

Sandra wrote: "Paula wrote: "I was very conflicted regarding my feelings with this book. Great beginning and latter half. I will take a look at that book. I liked the book a lot but as you correctly stated it was very, very, very long with lots of unimportant information. Also, Nina, the heroine did not seem to be able to complete a sentence always starting them with "Max, or Um, or but", but never finishing her thought and that turned me off since she was supposedly an intelligent woman--a lawyer. But I will give her another try because I like the basic premise of the story and it was different.
I finished Hope Ignites by Jaci Burton and here's my review.
I'm now reading Love on the Boardwalk by Christi Barth.

TO DWELL IN DARKNESS by Deborah Crombie. When I listen to her books it's like catching up with family and friends.
Loved Karen Rose's Don't Tell think I will become hooked on her thanks for the recommendation. Am about to start Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty.
Lisa, I was hooked after Don't Tell as well. The whole series is great.I just recently finished the last one and have to wait until February for the next one.
Sheri, can't believe you got through rm so fast, but think I will too.... Am looking at Sandra Brown as well.
I've finished
(awesome),
(in the top of this series for me so far - really enjoyed it),
(enjoyed it ok), and
.Now listening to
which I am really enjoying and reading
, which I'm just getting started in.
I finished
late last night. I also continued listening to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens yesterday.
Starting Summoning the Night one way or the other this weekend, Penni. I won't let you down! :) I'm discouraged by my lack of reading time lately but I have some writing deadlines looming and have to finish & perfect two articles for submission. But don't give up on me!! lol

I am soooo slow especially with actual reading (as opposed to listening), when you get started you will probably still pass me by. I am not worried at all.
I'm currently reading Julia and the Illuminated Baron, a book I have to read for school. If not for school, I wouldn't read it because it is not grabbing me, if you know what I mean. One cool thing about it (and the reason we are reading it) is that it is the first novel by a woman American author! On the back it says it was "slumbering" for two centuries, and this edition is the first really available to us. Because of all this I would not be surprised if no one had heard of it, but has anyone heard of it?!
Elizabeth wrote: "Yup! That's the one! Sorry I'm on my app or I would have tagged it"
No problem, Elizabeth! I was curious about it so I looked it up.

Just finished
. great book. waiting to start the next book
hopefully i won't have to wait to long to get it. Until then I need to try to catch up with everyone on the re-read so i think i will read Big Jack
I also (finally) started Festive ID yesterday!! I've been so behind on this series and it feels so fantastic to be on the most recent book for once! I'm only halfway through so far but I'm loving it!
I remember when I finally caught up with the series...there is nothing like that first time through it.
Christine wrote: "What's that book about?"
Christine, I don't think I can describe it! The first book of the series is
The series is considered urban fantasy, I think. There's quite a bit of world building in the beginning but I was drawn into the story line and fell in love with the characters fairly quickly. There are demons, suspense, magic, and a lot of humor, surprisingly enough. I love the writing style of this author - a lot of UF books are not funny but the dialogue made me LOL at times.
