I remember listening to one of Amanda Quick's audiobooks and you could hear the narrator taking breaths. It drove me crazy.

This one has no inflections and makes no distinctions in character voices. I wish she WOULD take a breath, as annoying as that is, because she's just flying through the script. You'd think she was reading a technical manual as it sounds just as boring.

Thank goodness the author changed narrators after this book. I've never heard anyone this bad before.

LOL!! That's one of the reason I love the In Death series, Susan Ericksen is just incredible. I don't know what I'd do if someone else started narrating them. I'm trying to get all the In Death series from Audible. When I've got headache or I'm sick or I'm at the dentist, I take my In Death with me.

I just finished reading Getting Rowdy, the third book in her Love Undercover series, and loved it. Here's my review.

This one was the best to date.
Getting Rowdy (Love Undercover, #3) by Lori Foster

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments Finished reading Kisscut (Grant County, #2) by Karin Slaughter around 2:00 am this morning. I have to say this book was a tough one. More so then the first book Blindsighted. It was a great book though. Now I am about to start the next in the series A Faint Cold Fear (Grant County, #3) by Karin Slaughter

message 864: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Michael Just finished Thirteen to None (VIGILANTE Series) by Claude Bouchard last night and in a way it reminded me just a bit of some of the Eve Dallas books. Not detective/police procedural, more private 'black ops' A/A but the usual male main characters are the 'victims' in this plotline and the supporting female characters that usually have limited appearances take over the 'kick ass and take names' action. I've enoyed the entire series and this was one of the best.

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments I finished Because of You (Coming Home, #1) by Jessica Scott Anything for You (Coming Home, #1.5) by Jessica Scott and I'll Be Home For Christmas (Coming Home, #2.5) by Jessica Scott . I'm now reading Back to You (Coming Home, #3) by Jessica Scott . I skipped book 2 as the characters are different from the ones introduced in the first book. I'll come back to it after this one. I just need to know what's going to happen with Trent and Laura!

Let me know how that one goes! I have a copy of this but never got to it after I read the LOTR trilogy and The Hobbit.

message 881: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It's very interesting. The poem was a little difficult to make my way through. But the criticism, explanation, analysis by Tolkien's son is fascinating.

Good to know! I struggled through the writing for LOTR as well to make sense of the style, but then you get used to it after a while.

message 883: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It's even harder than that. Many of the words are archaic (like Canterbury Tales archaic.)

Thanks Quynh. It is a touching subject for sure...I know a local couple that were destroyed by the long absence of the husband in the service...they just couldn't adjust when he finally came home to stay after several years of mostly being gone. So sad.
