Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments I'm sure you'll love it Sandra! This 1 series at a time is working out very well for me, especially when it's this great :)

I binge read the shorter series, for sure! But really long series - like In Death or Dark Hunter - I find I have to break them up and mix in other books. I'm anxious to start BDB though!

message 503: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments Yea it's definitely harder to binge read the long series. Even with In Death, when I first discovered it, I read every book up to Imitation straight because that was all that was released. I couldn't imagine binge reading it now with 40 books! I'd be exhausted.

message 504: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Lol, I discovered this series in 2012...I binged on the series up to NY2D I think....quite exhausting.

message 505: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments Wow Dawn. Especially ending it with NY2D, anyone would be exhausted after that one.

message 506: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Yes...I was able to slowdown a lot after that, but NY2D is an emotional one.

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh and Jonetta....I am, at least for now, addicted to the Outlander series. Listening to book 2 now.

I also LOVE the BDB and the strong female characters in this series, can't wait for the next book.

I binged the BDB series when there were about 12 books. I also binged In Death when there were 35 books. I'd probably do the same thing again:)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments I haven't been sucked (no pun intended) into a series like this since In Death. I'm onto book 5 now, Lover Unbound, Vishous's story. He's my favorite of the Brothers!

Oh Quynh - you're killing me. I guess I must move this series to the top of my list or at least as soon as I finish IAD.

I was trying Not to add any new series to my list until I get several read. And just today, I've added more! I have gotten into some dark series this year and discovered some fantastic writing. I love a book/series that elicits a strong emotional response in me. The book can shock me and make me wonder WT* - but if it sucks me in to flipping pages and sitting up late and binge reading the complete series, I love it. If it pushes my boundaries, blows my mind, touches my heart and soul...all the better. The Original Sinners series was one such series. I fully expect Consequences to do the same thing and now I've added The Dark Duet series to my list. I think it will be the darkest read of all but anytime a series gets that many 4 & 5 star ratings - it's well written.

LOL Dawn...that's what usually happens to me! I own it in paperback but wanted the Kindle version...and I think I may add the Audible to it to see if it helps me get into this one.

message 523: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Sandra, this narration is by far the best I gave ever heard. I am on book 3 now. During book 2, there is a part where the character is speaking without his false teeth. She nailed this part so well, I found myself snorting with laughter. I read Gone with the Wind, years ago, and found it difficult to read such a long book. But these books in audio have really hooked me.

message 524: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Thanks for that info, Dawn. That's hilarious...that she "reads" the toothless part!! LOL I'm hoping that audio is the answer for me with this series. Outlander may be my "doing the chores" book to see if I can listen and clean and still get into this book.

message 525: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments You can do a heck of a lot of chores...they are really long. One of them is 57 hours long.

message 526: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Michael Almost finished with The Kaiser Affair (The Drifting Isle Chronicles #1) by Joseph Robert Lewis which I'm finding intriquing. A bit of a combination of Victorian/steampunk/detective urban fantasy. Not the kick-a** you find with Eve Dallas but perhaps a touch of Eve Dallas if she were in this world. Definitely good enough for me to try another one in this series.

message 527: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments I finished Lover Unbound and oh what a read. My head is still trying to wrap itself around it. Phury's book is next but I think I'll have to be in the right frame of mind for that one. I'm taking a quick break from BDB to read Secrets on the Sand by Roxanne St. Claire . Plus it'll help me finish my 2013 reading challenge goal.

I feel compelled to warn you that Phury's book is a little tough. Just think being in the mind of a drug addict.

Lesley (whimsey2) | 113 comments I don't read a lot of vampire supernatural books but occasionally when the mood strikes I go on a vampire binge. I have recently read Shelby Westland's the legacy of blood which totally sucked me in and left me wanting more vampires :) so then I picked up Scarlett Dawns king cave after seeing alink for it on FB. At first I thought I wasn't going to like it but all of a sudden the hook went in and I couldn't put it down. Then thankfully I only had to wait 2 days until the next in theseries came out. King cave I have just finished it
After a long book binge with no sleep. It was great but now I have to wait for the next book so I am here sharing my anguished as I am sure you all will understand the feeling of having to wait for the next book in a series. I recommend all 3 books may some of you will read them and share my pain ;)

message 534: by Lesley (new)

Lesley (whimsey2) | 113 comments Woops that was king hall the first book and king cave the second in the series - no sleep means I am incoherent ;)

I love almost every genre of fiction out there. I just have to mix it up. Love good romance, suspense, pnr, historicals, and even some of the new darker NA novels. I tend to binge read series and then have to switch genres for a book or two.

Yeah I thought as much. I'm going to write a review once I have my thoughts together. I did like it better than I thought I would, but mostly for the other plot lines than Phury's.

Me, too, Quynh. Ward really captured the mindset of an addict exceptionally well, which made it tough to stick with. The subplots were excellent.

It's smooth sailing the rest of the way!

Great to hear!!

I started into The Black Dagger Brotherhood An Insider's Guide by J.R. Ward and read the short story of Zsadist, Bella, and Nalla. I looooooved it! It was so heartfelt and much needed after Phury's book. I was only planning to read the novella, but I might finish it out to get different viewpoints on the Brothers.

both really good!

Also just got finished with this book called Ultimate Journey...didn't actually make it all the way through it. I was reading it because my cousin wanted me to, to get a look into his brain. It's by Robert Monroe, about OBE's and stuff. Anyone read?

I do too! It's on my porch and in the summer, I sit in my porch swing or rocking chair and after awhile, they buzz in right by me. I love to watch them...especially when they land on the feeder and actually sit still. Last summer, I had 3 different species of hummingbirds coming in. I'm only know that because they looked so different that I looked them up on the computer! lol
