John GrishamI have read most everything by him. His last few books haven't been that great but I keep hoping maybe he will put out something that matches his earlier novels
My next book is likely going to be The Emperor's Children by Claire Messud, which I'll be reading for my physical book club.
My next book is likely going to be The Emperor's Children by Claire Messud, which I'll be reading for my physical book club. I've always tried to have a mix of books from cozy to hard boiled mysteries, histories/biographies to literature books. If I read something really heavy, I tend to follow it with something light.
Since last year, I've been focused on just working down a 100+ stash of books -- and they are stashed ... under the bed, under the loveseat, beside the bed ... ;) -- so in some ways I've been grabbing books and reading them not so much because they are the books I want to read right now but because they have been there the longest. And I still enjoy them immensely.

The Tokyo Zodiac Murders by Soji Shimada. The premise of the novel is exquisitely quirky and I found it instantly appealing. Let's hope the feeling remains true.

I am about to start John Le Carré's "A Legacy of Spies," with some trepidation. Many of his earlier works were both exciting and beautifully written. Unfortunately, while his more recent books are indeed replete with clever prize-winning prose, I often find them lacking in action and excitement--in other words a bit boring. But here's hoping!

I'm about to start Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah. I want to read it because of a Goodreads friend's fabulous review. Thanks, Thomas!

I've been trying to use the philosophy of after reading something heavy of switching to something light, if its set in historical times follow it with something that is from current times, etc.

I'm currently reading Every Dead Thing by John Connolly. I started this for a group read and heard that John Connolly was fantastic. I admit I like the story but it's not paced fast enough for me. I won't necessarily give up on him without trying more from him, I've got 2 more of his books. I'm going to be reading The Late Show by Michael Connelly next again for a group read.

I just finished the classic sci-fi novel The Winds of Time by Chad Oliver, so I'm trying to convince someone to give me Isaacson's Leonardo Da Vinci so I can wipe away all vestiges of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. I'm writing a sequel where Da Vinci is barely mentioned, but I already left Florence not well liked by other artists under Medici's patronage. I wonder if Isaacson will say anything about that painting that was sold for a fortune to a Saudi businessman. Probably not. Anyway, time for some biography, and I liked Isaacson's treament of Einstein.

Newbie here. I just bought Roses in May by Dot Hutchison simply because I read Butterfly Garden and it's hands-down one of my all time favorite reads in this genre! For those interested, Butterfly Garden is the first book in a trilogy. You must check it out. Now...to page one...

I also read Cussler as a bit of fantasy which is strange because I'm not too interested in a real fantasy book. I problem mean that the men are handsome, the women are beautiful, the dialogue is too witty to be realistic but the adventure is a well, an adventure! I never take it too seriously but I always have a lot of fun reading it.

   The Friend by Teresa Driscoll
The Friend by Teresa DriscollThis is a new author for me. I have my favorite and 'go to' authors, but I love trying new authors too. And I love a well written psychological-thriller. I have heard great things about this author.
