D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments Gosh, I worked with Cait on this yesterday, and I thought we had it all sussed out. Now, it's all messed up again! The editions in my "Books" section are outdated, so when someone goes to buy them, and chooses "Barnes & Noble" as their buying venue, they get a page saying the book is no longer available. I had to publish new editions of my novels recently, and I didn't realize it was going to cause so much trouble, not only here, but elsewhere. Here are the new ISBN's that should be listed in my "Books" section: 1482773058, 1482773376, 1482772396. (There are five books, but two of them are okay). If someone can help with this, please let me know what other information you need to get this straightened out. Thank you very much!

D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments I just contacted Cait directly to help get this fixed since she had helped me straighten it out yesterday. So maybe it's best if she work on it alone, so we don't have any mis-communication and make things worse. I will post here again, if she's not available or something. Thanks

D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments Cait is not available at this time to help fix this, so I am re-posting for help. Thank you very much.

Librarians cannot set editions as primary; authors must do it themselves. See http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/31...

D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments I will read the link you've provided. But I had spent SO MUCH TIME yesterday getting the new editions to be listed on my page, and someone removed them! Who would do that?

What you did yesterday was get those new editions added. And they are all there.

What you seem to be asking for is to have them show up as the default edition, which is not automatic, and which is something you will need to set for each of the three books.

D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments The new editions are NOT there, they are the old editions except for FALCON LORD--BOOK TWO. Meanwhile, I just blundered. I tried to resolve the issue by "combining" the different editions of my books. Apparently, I did not understand the dashboard controls and ended up combining ALL my books (except ANATOMY OF A WEREWOLF) into ONE book! And now it's saying only a Librarian can Uncombine them. I don't know, I'm ready to abandon Goodreads, I've been having so much trouble. And I'm a web guy! If you can help, I really appreciate it. Thank you

I got your books separated, no worries there.

I'm not sure why you think your books are missing, the ISBN numbers you listed above are here:

1482773376: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17...

D.A. the new editions do show up, if a user clicks the "old" edition from "books by ..." it will show up on the top right as an "other editions". If you set the primary edition as described in Message 4 the "new" book page will be the one that comes up when clicking one of your books under "books by...".

D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments Thank you very much for un-combining. But, if you look at "Books by D. A. Metrov" it now appears the books are the correct, latest editions, and can be purchased EXCEPT for MACHINE OF GOD, and THE TERRIBLE QUEST OF THADDEUS PENNYBROOK'S KNEE-HIGH STEAMBOTS. If you try clicking on the "Barnes & Noble" buy buttons for those two, you'll see they say, "Unavailable." But the newer editions are also on Barnes & Noble and ARE available. Thanks again for your help.

D.A. Metrov (metrov) | 29 comments I'm afraid this has all become a little confusing at this point. I had gone through and configured all the books to be "Primary Editions," but two of them resorted back for some reason, so I re-configured them. And now Barnes & Noble is saying those two don't exist at all. I think it might be best to let this be for awhile, and see if things propagate, update, and correct themselves. I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's help.

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments The primary edition is an attribute of the work (which is what we call the set of combined editions). When you accidentally combined the works and I separated them, this got reset. It looks like you do have the primary editions set correctly now, though.

Barnes and Noble is selling eBook editions of both Machine of God (here) and The Terrible Quest (here). I do not see them available as Paperbacks (which is seems those two ISBNs are), that might be something you have to take up with B&N.

If it is the eBook version you intend for people to be able to view, we will need to add editions using the BNID numbers (they start with 294). Like Cait mentioned yesterday we can't take the information directly from there, but as the author you can provide it for us so we can get it set up.
