Am giving it a lookie loo . . . I know what you mean. Amazon is a bully about this whole thing, but there isn't really a lot we can do about it until we all stand up and work together to do something. But with the power they have, and how B&N has such horrible management, allowing them to fall out of the running totally if they don't get their acts together. It is starting to look a lot like the VCR vs. BETA thing, or DVD vs Bluray, maybe? Whomever is the biggest bully with the most money wins.

I can't say as I blame them but I do wish that Kobobooks and B&N, etc would give them a run for their money!
LOL.... bullies... muscle... reminds Me of high school!I do hate to think that they will wind up being the only choice we have. Hopefully, things from B&N and Kobo will hang in there.

It would be a good thing for all of us if they both were able to hang around!
Make no mistake: Amazon is trying to control the playing field with KDP Select. By enticing the authors with higher returns, they guarantee that more books are available on their site. Over time, this freezes out their competition based on selection/availability. Additionally, the 90 day window continues to renew automatically until the author physically opts out, which most forget to do.

Of course, I won't know until a month in whether it makes any difference. Yes, I know Amazon is trying to not only control the field, but also entice more authors, especially backlist authors. I'm trying very hard to avoid putting all my books in the program. In the long run, having a broad audience with multiple ways to read (print and various ereaders) is a much safer way to go. But if I fall into a trap of complete lack of visibility, I lose the game before I start.
I'm open to ideas if anyone has them.

I want to let everyone here know in case they have Curse on their wishlist. I plan to put Under Witch Curse into Amazon's exclusive program for at least 90 days to see if it helps sales. The move will happen on Tuesday May 14.
Please let me know in this thread if you have concerns, etc. I want to hear from readers--your thoughts matter to me!!!
Under Witch Moon is the first in the series and Under Witch Aura is the second in the series.
