Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments Can I get Lost Homicidal Maniac: (Answers to "Shirley") verified for pages?

I can't find a reliable source for pages (though the Kindle edition is listed at 180), but Smashwords lists 56,486 words / 250 = 226

Done, Vicki. I left the Kindle/Amazon data alone, but I did put in the word count into the synopsis. Changed the page count on the eBooks.

I haven't seen a decision on these books from posts 343 and 347 last week.

message 411: by CountessPaige (new)

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments I am trying to get through the outstanding ones. Some of these are a little more difficult to make a quick decision and require a little more research.

Hacker by Malorie Blackman - Accepted ~199 pages

Thief! by Malorie Blackman - Accepted ~210 pages

Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern - Not accepted ~158 pages (and from looking at the book, a lot of white space)

No Page Count Updates on Sundays.
Cool Text: Logo and Graphics Generator

Due to the time-consuming nature of the Sunday Update, we will no longer update page counts on Sundays.

If there is an unknown page count on a book by one of your members, we will temporarily allow it. However, if it does NOT meet the requirements, we may ask you to remove it before the next update.

Of course, you may continue to post your requests on Sunday; we will just get to them on Mondays.

Well that's rough. I spent a lot of time reading these because their page counts fit the challenge... and mine have no pictures or anything, so I'm out SIX books based off a word count when my page count worked for at least two Sunday updates?

message 420: by Barb (new)

Barb When did word count become the deciding factor instead of page count?

In the official rules thread that was posted way back when, it says that The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe WOULD be ok to use, but now you're saying it's not? I had that on my list to read later this summer, but if it's not going to count for the Tower challenge, I'll postpone it till this ends. My team needs every book we can get!

message 421: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Yes, Barb, I was sure TLtW&tW counted, too.

The issue arose with the frequent posting of children "chapter" books and juvenile books, which lead to an inquiry into the word count for all juvenile books.

However, the Mods are discussing this issue with the Captains. And the Captains have asked for a 48 hour notice prior to all major Mod decisions affecting them. For this reason, and for your input, could you please contact Steven? Thank you.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Hina, I've got nothing on the first two; I'll have to turn it over to Countess Paige.

However, on the last one I found it on Smashwords

Hell, Fire & Freedom (Fighting for Freedom, #1) by Shannon Callahan = word count 77,350 = 309 pages

Fry's English Delight (Fry's English Delight, #1) by Stephen Fry

message 439: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I'll have Countess Paige look into it, Karen. However, I recently listened to a novella that was 1 hour and 41 minutes long and it equaled only 68 pages. Your CD is 1 hour and 43 minutes long.

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments I need confirmation for Skin in the Game (Play Action #1) by Jackie Barbosa , I forgot which site showed this as below 160, or GR shows over 200 pages. And also just to confirm page count for Secret Maneuvers (Ex Ops, #1) by Jessie Lane (Countess Paige I think this fills the requirement for a great cover) LOL.

message 444: by CountessPaige (new)

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Hina, it is a great cover *wiping away a bit of drool*

What were you asking for? I got a little distracted there, lol!

I am currently away from my computer and will respond to your request and the ones from earlier today when I'm not remote.

message 445: by CountessPaige (new)

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Hina, regarding Skin in the Game (Play Action #1) by Jackie Barbosa , I cannot find any wordcounts. Amazon shows an estimated 145 pages and is only 241 KB. According to B&N, this book is only 192 KB. Based on this information, it seems that the book is less than 160 pages. Sorry :(

According to Smashwords, Secret Maneuvers (Ex Ops, #1) by Jessie Lane is 100,223 words (400 pages) and is approved.

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Ashley Marie - We are currently working with the captains and the mods to iron out some details regarding children's book, juvenile books, etc. If you have read any books from the Series of Unfortunate Event books, please do not delete them from your shelves just yet. This was a bit of fun research and very helpful for a real life challenge I'm doing this summer so thank you!

Unfortunately, based on the information I have worked out from the website below it would appear that this work is approximately 20,000 words and would not count. Sorry :(
