Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Can I get challenge qualification/chunkster verification on this one?

Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams, read by Kayla on 10/11, 496 pages
this one confuses me, because AR Bookfind lists it as 484 pages in all the editions, but then says like 27k words? I'm not even sure this one counts for the challenge, much less a chunkster!? how does it have that many pages and that few words????

glimpse on AR bookfind: http://www.arbookfind.com/bookdetail....

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Barb, I am still looking into The Aunt Sally Team book. Sorry for the delay.

message 913: by CountessPaige (last edited Oct 23, 2013 07:25AM) (new)

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Steven - Glimpse is actually a novel-in-verse so the word count is probably correct. In looking at the Amazon preview, the first page is only 55 words so it definitely is not a chunkster.

I'll talk to LK about if it will work for the challenge or not.

ah, so it's play/poem-like. That would explain it. I was wracking my brain trying to understand that length with that word count and it wouldn't reconcile!!! X)

If it doesn't, we'll have to get Kayla to take it off that shelf!

message 916: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Steven, I'll allow it for the challenge, but not as a "chunkster."

message 919: by Barb (last edited Oct 23, 2013 02:44PM) (new)

Barb I know this one is long enough for the challenge, but I'm wondering if it would count as a chunkster. It's a brand new book, and I know that's hard for you guys to find, so I'm posting now and hoping you'll be able to figure it out before the challenge ends :)

The Final Cut by Catherine Coulter   The Final Cut, by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison

message 920: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments The Final Cut by Catherine Coulter = 455 pages Approved for "chunkster."

Ohhhhhh...Scotland Yard... are you using that for the Mystery Challenge, Barb?

message 921: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Oh I need some Scotland Yard books! Tagged!

message 922: by Barb (new)

Barb Yes ma'am :) I haven't read any JT Ellison books, but I love Coulter's FBI series, so I have high hopes for this one!

message 926: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments New question. I have just finished Percy Jackson and the Sword of Hades and this edition is the one I have read. I just don't believe it is 196 pages and I dont know where the number comes from as at the end of one book it says 71 and end of the other says 79. I just can' figure out where the last 46 pages has gone. LOL.

also Groovy Greeks (Horrible Histories) has got a lot of drawings in it.

would you check the wordcount of this book ( 2 books) and if it is not approved I will remove it from my MangTango shelf.

Thank you.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Dearest Countess Paige and LK,

I hate to be a bother, but is there any way I can get rulings on which of the Dresden Files will count as Chunksters for turning in bouncing cupcakes? It looks like only a few have been "tested" and I would like to know, since I'll be reading many more of the series in the next bit.

:D

Hopefully that's not too much to ask!!!

Steven

message 937: by CountessPaige (new)

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Steven -

I can tell you that Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2) by Jim Butcher and Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1) by Jim Butcher will not count as chunksters based on word count.

For the rest of them, that would require a little more research. When I get through the cupcake redemption thread, I can try to look at the next few in the series.

I saw book three (Grave Peril) on the approved list already, so skip that one, along with books 7 and 14 (Dead Beat and Cold Days). None of the rest could I find on the list.

Thanks so much! And no rush. I've just finished book four and won't read the next til Mid-November.

I'm starting to read Ancestor by Scott Sigler that has 421 pages and I can't seem to find the right version of it here on Goodreads. If you can find the right version of it, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Nichole | 980 comments Hi, I was hoping you could find a word count on The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson by Brandon Sanderson. I have found several different page counts but not a word count. It would be great if you could also magically make it 200k so we can use a triple threat *heehee* :)

Thanks!

I'll add it to the datebase, if you give me a little more info, Nancy. Hardback or paperback? Is that the cover? Large print or regular?

It is in paperback. The cover is different. It is this cover Ancestor by Scott Sigler and it is regular.

Thanks LK!

Can you work your magic for 2 more books? :) You were able to find a word count for the first one and it counted as a chunkster! So, if you would be so kind to repeat that magic for these, it would be great :)

The Fall (The Strain Trilogy, #2) by Guillermo del Toro & The Night Eternal (The Strain Trilogy, #3) by Guillermo del Toro by Guillermo del Toro

message 947: by Barb (new)

Barb Would Dreamland by Kevin Baker   Dreamland count as a triple threat or just a chunkster? Thanks!

message 948: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I'm not having any luck today, Nichole. I'll turn these over to Countess Paige. I don't think the first one is a "chunkster," but the second one might be.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Barb, I can't find a word count on that one. I'm pretty sure it is a "chunkster," but unsure if it is a TT. I'll turn it over to Countess Paige, too. Sorry.

Can you find word counts for London by Edward Rutherfurd and Paris by Edward Rutherfurd ? They are definitely Triple Threats, but there's a question over whether they might be cutthroat... Thanks
