No. I thought it was quite pathetic compared to the first and second instalments in the series, but I'm sure not everyone will agree ;) I just thought Katniss changed so much that it wasn't believable and the ending was terrible.

Catching Fire was okay, but not as good as book one. I thought it was too repetitive.
Yeah, most certainly. The only Hunger Games book I like is the first one. I think they get worse as they go along.
I hated it the first time I read it. Prim dying was so sad and Kantniss and Peeta being together was depressing! I enjoyed it better the 2nd time though

I don't mean to be Simon Cowell here, but this was absolute rubbish.
Disappointing!First, the characters changed too much. I hated Katniss, going all depressed suicidal zombie on us! Where was the Girl on Fire who fought like hell for her life in the first book? Peeta got caught by the Capitol, so what? Shut up and wait till he returns, there's no reason to be mentally instable because of him, and the new Katniss had her family with her, she had Prim but she didn't spent time with the sister she scarified herself to protect, she ignored everyone who cared about her.
Then there's brainwashed Peeta who is far more interesting than the original one who was quite boring. And Gale going all Bomber-man on us, where's the boy who hunted squirrels? Who's that inhuman crazy jerk?
Just to say that all the characters became crazy and mentally instable. District 13 should be renamed District Nuthouse.
Second, it's depressing from the beginning to the end the only funny moment was Finnick and his underwear! I cried my eyes out when everyone died, specially Finnick who is my favorite character, when I was reading that part I was bitting my lips, chewing my nails and almost pulling my hair! I didn't believe it when he died, I had to read it again so my mind could process the information. And sweet little Prim! What was she doing on the battlefield for heaven's sake?
And finally, the freaking love triangle! Come on this is not Twilight! Katniss ending up with Peeta is absolutely awful! After what she did she deserve to end up alone, getting old surrounded by cats, dying alone, and have her body discovered only because the smell disturbed the neighbors who wanted to have a BBQ in their garden. In fact everyone should be dead!
But I guess it was OK.

I actually struggled for a long time trying decide which I loved better, this or Catching Fire. Then I settled on Catching Fire, with this a close second, and TheHunger Games in third.
Selma pretty much summed it up. though i have one thing to add. WHY THE HECK DID PRIM DIE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? THE WHOLE SERIES WAS ABOUT KATNISS SAVING PRIM FROM THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!! GAH!!!!!!!!!!! I HATED IT SO FRICKEN MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a huge thing for Katniss. "Yeah, you do everything for your sister and now she just died, all your work was for nothing, have a nice life."

Thanks guys. I hated Prim's death it was so shocking. I cried while reading all the last chapters. It depressed me so much that I didn't appreciate the last days before the new school year. My sister was bored of my rantings and always told me to stop annoying her so I didn't have anyone to talk to about that book. So I tortured myself more by reading heartbreaking fanfictions about Finnick and he dies everytime! :'(

I found Gale really cowadly in Mockinjay, running off. All the characters changed so much... it was dreadful. I guess that's just my opinion, though!
Yeah you're right. Gale changed so much, he totally lost his humanity. If it was Katniss it'd be understandable cause she went to the arena and stuff, but Gale?? He doesn't have any excuse for blowing people up!
That's true about the blowing up stuff...but wen it cane to the lovey dovey thing Ididn't like how everyone blamed Gale when he ran off. He left cause he couldn't bear seeing katniss with peeta.
And I bet he was disgust to see what Katniss became.
I like the 3rd book, it's definitely not my favorite. I think no one likes it because it's sort of depressing, and I agree with them.
I liked the third book.....at least it was better than the 2nd one. Though the third book was really depressing and somehow it had an unsatisfying end
How can people say it was bad? I think third book was amazing! First and second books were good but the third one blew me off, it had the best description of the circumstances and the emotions that Katniss was having.

I really liked the series, I LOVED the first book, the second book was good but slow and dull in parts. I was really disappointed with Mocking Jay (3rd book) I found it boring and slow to the point were I wanted to stop reading (but I didn't) which is such a shame because the other books were so good:(

The "disappearance" of her mom. No wonder she fell apart.) But Peeta. We didn't see enough of his recovery. It was like "Oh he hates everyone - nope he doesn't think you're a mutt now - oh look he's all better!" kind of thing. I wanted to find out what happened to everyone else!

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this book! First of all, Katniss was so out of character, she was crying and depressed the whole and was really useless! Tons of characters died, Cinna (well, he technically died in the 2nd but we didn't find out till the 3rd), Finnick, and Prim! Like, why the heck would Collins kill Prim?! The whole reason Katniss volunteered was so Prim would live! This book was just a big mess, and the ending wasn't really even satisfying. :(And I will forever be upset over Finnick and Cinna. Cinna was brilliant and Finnick had just gotten Annie back! ARGH, WHHHHY?!
I enjoyed Mocking Jay, not as much as the first book (my favorite), but still. The way it ended was a high point in the novel for me, minus how Katniss went a bit crazy. I've been "Team Peeta" all along, despite the fact I'm didn't care too much about the romantic aspects of the series. What I found particularly sad was Prim's death. My theory is that it was Coin who dropped those bombs, and had strategically placed Prim in harm's way. Thoughts on who dropped the bombs?

I use to have a 'team' in Hunger Games but I just think Katniss doesn't deserve Peeta or Gale (sorry shippers).

And I mean, I get that Katniss is suppose to have emotions and be mentally damaged by the Hunger Games but the book was hardly making any progress! It took like the last 100 pages for it to get moving.
The book was very slow compared to the first and second because there was no Hunger Games. It was really just a bunch of Katniss in front of the cameras. It didn't have much action until the end. A lot of trilogies are like that, though. Take Divergent, for example. The first book was awesome. The second book was cool. And the third book was a slow bloodbath that dragged out for hundreds of pages.The ending was sweet, though :)

Yep, agreed here as well. Fantastic book, but the epilogue could've been better.
I just finished this book and I was so disappointed. There was a few main elements that really struck me in a negative way. First of all, I understand how much of a traumatic experience going through the Hunger Games TWICE may have been but as the main character and the Mockingjay I expected her to be more positive and resilient! Not some depressed, anxious mess! Also, she didn't have much opinion on anything which really defeated the purpose of her being the Mockingjay because everyone else controlled her and told her what to do and she just let it happen and didn't have a personal say in anything because she felt nothing.
Secondly, no one cared when a character died. For example, it didn't seem to have any effect on anyone when Finnick died. Katniss watched him die, everyone back at 13 knew him and Annie and him recently got married and no one cared! This also happened with Cinna, Prim, the people in the Star Squad, Boggs and Madge.
When she killed Coin, it didn't really give an explanation as to why she did it. She just did.
This book never explained what happened to people after the war was over. For example there was no explanation of what happened to Gale, only that he moved on with a new career which I think wasn't enough explanation as he was a significant character. This also happened with her mother, Effie Trinket, Gales family, Johannah Mason and the other Tributes.
The ending annoyed me mostly. This book has a pretty much perfect plot to get everyone guessing and keeping everyone interested but the ending was nothing like I would have expected. I thought it would be much more uplifting and significant. It didn't explain the reaction of how the rebels felt that the war was over, the changes to Panem years after the war, how people got back on track, what life is like now etc. Also, I thought that seeing that Katniss and Peeta ended up having a life and kids together would fill the emptiness in their hearts and replace with with happiness and love but it seems that they never really became happy and still lived in those dark times.
All in all, I think the writer got sick of writing this book and quickly wanted to finish it and forgot to include the most important themes in this novel. It really didn't explain enough for me and I was quite disappointed.
I agree with you, it shocked me that no one cared when Finnick died, and we never knew what happened to the others.
The indifference everyone showed on the deaths is what annoyed me. Everyone was important in helping Katniss become the mockingjay and were supporting her by all means. They gave sacrifices for her and no one paid tributes to their deaths as if they had no real importance in the first place etc.I, however, agree with Katniss mood and behavior throughout. The experience of THG was just too traumatic for her to recover quickly. So I think her anxiety and everything was pretty much justified. I also liked the ending. It was like the end to HP Sure it wasnt detailed but atleast we know everything was okay in the end and things were beginning to get better and people were starting to put things behind them.
I heard from some fangirls from Instagram, that the Mockingjay trailer is out. I searched YouTube for it, but I can't find it anywhere...can someone tell me if this is a fake or??
I think I may have seen that trailer too although it wasn't a full trailer, it was more of an ad as such. it was a shot of Peeta, Johanna Mason and President Snow presenting a Capitol announcement. it didn't show anything else of the movie other than that tiny part and didn't reveal anything about the movie.
Am I the only one who absolutely ADORED mockingjay??? I don't understand why people get mad at something heartbreaking in a book. i love crying over a book, its a great feeling. I think what turned most people off is that in the third installment, Katniss' voice has really matured, and she has PTSD from the previous games. I personally believe Collins did a great job of articulating the story that is, readable, yet relatable.
@Jazzy It's a propaganda film, like thirty-seconds long. Meant to build up the tension, I suppose.
