Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) | 32 comments I have two contemporary romance books (a four part series) available for sale currently.

Book sizes are 5x8. Both are around 300 pages. The cost to print these books for amazon.com is $7.34.

I currently have them for sale at $7.99 leaving me to make only .39 per book.

I don't get a lot of paperback sales since I'm an indie author. Most of my sales are digital.

I've had four sales in the last day and I've made a whopping $1.70.

I've spend a lot of time & effort into making my covers, writing my books. etc... But, these books will be out there floating around forever.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Tracie McBride | 3 comments There's no easy answer to this question. You have to hit that sweet spot where the price is high enough to give you a decent return yet not so high as to discourage buyers. And there's no magical formula to work out what that price is.
Best advice I can think of? Play around with it. Try setting them at different prices. You can always change them back. And give them a good month at the new price so you can more accurately measure the effect of a price change. Have a look at how much the bestselling paperbacks in your genre are selling for, and price yours accordingly. Many authors have found with their ebooks that if they increase the price, they get more sales, because a higher price implies higher quality, and it's probably the same for paperbacks.
