I found this page out of a book, and the story looks kinda interesting, by there's no title or author. The page is 7-8 and there are three or four girl standing in what might be a grave: Daphne, Anne, Mary, and it talks about a Shirley (but he' not in not of the page). The girls mentioned a "red room" and there's a bunch of bones around. At the end of page 8, Shirley starts talking about a Russian foketale where God comes to a peasant and asks what she's praying about. She wants a cow like her neighbor's that gives good milk.

And that's all that's on the page. I know it's not a British story, because the quotation marks are the American way.

possibly Lurker, first in the Wicked Dead series... or another from that series. It has girls with those names.

Further Googling turns up Torn from that series as having a "red room" mentioned inside.
