Penelope Wallace I don't have a favourite Austen heroine, but my favourite Austen hero is Charles Bingley. (Henry Tilney is excellent but a bit patronising.) Darcy is never properly punished for his rudeness when he first appears.

Krisztina Voisa I really liked Elinor from Sense and Sensibility and Mr Knightly is my favorite leading man!

My favorites are Catherine Morland and Elinor Dashwood. As a book lover with an overactive imagination, Catherine just gets me. She was so amusing/endearing to read about. Meanwhile Elinor is everything I admire and aspire to be. I wish I was less of an open book and could be more emotionally reserved like her. Her dedication to her family in hard times is beautiful too.

Mr. Knightley had my heart from page one of Emma and will always be my favorite Jane Austen man. And Henry Tilney is definitely my second favorite.

Mr. Knightley is my favorite leading man of Jane Austen. He is a complete gem and I love reading his line “I don't approve of surprises. The pleasure is never enhanced and the inconvenience is considerable.” I never got what was so great about surprises either.

As for leading woman I just can’t decide between Elinor and Elizabeth. Two amazing women in two wonderfully delightful books that I reread yearly. So...both!

Alba Marie A lot of people have said that they started loving Pride and Prejudice and Elizabeth Bennett, but as they have grown older, they prefer Persuasion. This is definitely the case for me, I re-read Persuasion quite recently on a whim, and loved it (though when I first read as a teen I only thought it was so-so)! I can related to the more mature voice of Anne Elliott now so much more as I have matured myself.

That said, I do still love Lizzie. I also really like Elinor Dashwood (though her sister drives me insane).

I hope to re-read Northanger Abbey soon (saw the film recently after I visited Lismore Castle, the place where it was filmed), and liked the film version of Catherine Moreland, but I'll have to wait for the re-read to see if I still like book version of her, since I haven't read Northanger since I was in high school.

Cande Anne and Frederick, up till now. I kind of love the whole awkward situation between them, 'cause it made it even sweeter. They're grown-ups but many times act like the teenagers who fell for each other 7 years ago.

hellencherries Hellen You know, like, I still love Elizabeth Bennet. And she's clearly one of the most iconics female characters in literature, but my favorite protagonist in all Jane Austen's books needs to be definetly Emma. Who can resist her...?

Angelica Mamani I love Anne Elliot. Like many others I connect with her maturity and admire her quiet strength. She really thinks before taking action, then does what is right despite the personal sacrifice. By way of men, I grew up in love with Darcy, but think Charles Bingley may be the perfect man. He is just so kind, loving, forgiving, generous, humble, smart (he is the one who built up the family business after all), hard working, and loves life. He is respectful, takes "no" for no, loyal and patient. He sees the good in people and can accept them on their own terms. He is the ideal of my adulthood.

Kate That is soooo hard! I'm stuck between Elinor Dashwood, Lizzy Bennet and Anne Elliot. For the men, I'm stuck between Darcy, Wentworth and Knightley. I have to say Knightley and Lizzy win!
