Same name, different author!

I don't know of a way to make the non-apostrophe searches work. Adding another edition will only work if the title (sans-apostrophe) is correct in whatever language or special edition or box set is being added. Deliberately adding a fake edition with a false title would result in the edition being deleted and a threatening flag sent to support. Fake books are not allowed.

Since I'm not likely to get down to clear this out anywhere soon, maybe somebody else would be as kind as to have a look at Paul Martin. My guess is that at least three different Paul Martins are mingled out there.

Ouch! Just looked at LC for a starting point, and they have 24 listed as just Paul Martin... Hoping like hell they're not all on GR yet! Also hoping that some of the Paul Martin-s listed are actually Paul "something else" Martin... Will make a start now though...

I need help separating my books from another author whose name is the same is mine. I've read the instructions but feel a little unsure about this--I have 20 books on Goodreads and an extensive author profile, and I want to make sure I don't have to do all this over again. I would greatly appreciate if someone would explain exactly what I need to do - with these 20 books and my profile - if this can't be done easily, without recreating a lot of this content, it won't be worth it to me. Thank you.

Mike, since you are the 1-space author of your name, as books are added to the database they will default to your profile (whether they are yours or belong to another Mike Wells). If you notice any more that aren't yours, just post a request in this group and someone will move them over for you.

Any other books by Kyle Richardson aren't mine.

Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated. :D

I moved your books to this profile. You are now Kyle^^Richardson, where ^ stands for a space. Inserting multiple spaces between the given name and the surname is the method used by GR to differentiate between authors with the same name combination. The extra spaces do not show and have no consequence for the search function. Please note that most of the time new books are entered into the main (one spaced) profile by default. They will have to be edited once they are added to Goodreads to move them to the right profile. You can always request this in this group.
