Goodreads has become such a great platform for new writers, especially those whom are opting to self-publish.

Are there any members whom are published or attempting to become published in the near future? What is your genre, and how do you incorporate multiculturalism?

I am an aspiring author as well. While I have several concepts, I am planning to release a Young Adult Fantasy book with my writing partner by fall 2013.

We plan to plan to self publish, but we are attempting to gain an audience first. Goodreads seems to be a good platform to start with :)

While our leading lady will share a dual role as main character with whom the series is going to be named after, her role is very pivotal in the growth of the storyline.

While in my head she is a Black female, she and the other protagonist live in an alternative universe that isn't Earth. The other main protagonist is what I perceive to be white, but they dont use the term white in their civilization.

His love interest is technically mixed race(Asian-White in our terms),and if I could use our terms to describe the races of several other characters I'd say we blend Asian, Latino(mulatto), Middle Eastern and Black. But like I said, their world doesnt use the same terms to describe race.

The interesting thing about it is,the two main characters are able to travel to other worlds, so they meet people who will refer to them as white or black in the future :)

It has Urban Fantasy elements as well as Science Fiction elements.

We are in the process of hiring a digital artist to design our cover and possibly make some conceptual art as we would enjoy a companion book to go with it :)
