I ordered the hard cover. Amazon says it should be here by the 11th. I know it comes out on the 4th. I'm not sure if you guys preordered Kindle versions or when your delivery is expected. Do you want to wait until the 11th? Or are you planning to read it on release day?
Just realized that I have the first 5 chapters on Kindle, so I could probably start a bit earlier than the 11th. :)
I purchased a physical copy of the book and it's supposed to come on the release date. I'll definitely be starting it as soon as it's in hand! :)
I figured as much! Lol You'll probably be done before I get my book, but at least I'll have the first few chapters. :)
Yup, I've pre-ordered it for the kindle and supposed to be getting a 'delivery' of it on the 6th.
I think most people will be reading it as soon as it's available to them, so I'll put the start date as the release date.

They said the delivery date would be anywhere from the 7th to the 11th. Hopefully, I'll get it sooner rather than later.
You probably paid for faster shipping. Or you have Prime, which I don't have.

I also pre-ordered Cress for Kindle, but I will start on the 6th as I have my last exam that day, just after leaving the classroom, I am getting the book!!
Is anyone interested in joining Angela and I in a buddy read for Gathering Blue
(The Giver Book 2) by Lois LowryWe were thinking March, how about March 1st? Let us know and I'll start a thread.
If anyone has been meaning to read The Giver, this gives you a 3 weeks to get onto it :-)
Maybe we can keep the buddy read going for the following 2 books as well.

ah, not sure I'll get to it soon. these buddy reads are my way of pushing a book in front of the other. I want to read so many books, I always get distracted XD.
What do people think of this series that starts with
? It looks intriguing. Should I give it a shot?
Alycia and Rida,So glad that you will join Heather and me on Gathering Blue
Heather recommended The Giver to me and I loved it so when she asked me to do a buddy read I was more than happy to do it.

I will join in too. i read the first one years ago and just recently realized there were sequels! I have them on my kindle.
Kirsten wrote: "What do people think of this series that starts with

All my life I've been a HUGE fan of Disney. I still watch these movies on a regular basis. Although I like the idea of a fairytale retelling the execution usually leaves me frustrated because its not what I wanted (and expected) from the story.
I didn't like Cinder,Cruel Beauty,Splintered
I did like My Name is Rapunzel a lot. But I think its because I was unfamiliar with Rapunzel's story.
Splinter was bad in execution, but I found Cinder really easy to dig and the book overall was fun.Don't read it if you're expecting something deep, cinder in the end hits it's target really well: and that is the YA/Teenage population. It has easy to dig characters, a little romance, some SF. A little for everybody and for me it was a fun experience, but if you start this expecting an epic fantasy you might be disappointed.
In the end, it's just another story where good will win against evil after many hardships. :)
No harm in reading the first 5 chapters. The writing was easy to read. Mindless almost. I finished the book in a day. I just felt no desire to further pursue the series.
Kirsten wrote: "So, if I liked The Hunger Games and other YA dystopian fiction, I should give it a try?"Probably. I haven't actually read The Hunger Games, but I saw the film. I would say Cinder is more fun and less serious, but there still are arch-enemies and deadly plagues. And the female characters are strong and resourceful, like Katniss. I really liked (4 stars) Cinder and loved (5 stars) Scarlet.
My only warning is that these are all cliffhangers. It won't get wrapped up until the last (fourth) book.
Lynn wrote: "Heather / Angela - Start a discussion thread and I'll add it to the Buddy Read Calender :)"Thanks Lynn, I've set one up (hope I did it right, its my first one).. for March 1.
Added to the calender :)

can we add
to buddy reads?. I know the group has read it last year, but I wasn't in group at that time and really want to start this triology with a few people to discuss it with in march. Hope its not against group rules
Not against the group rules, you just need to find someone to read it with you before it gets added to the buddy read calender. Posting here does that finding for you hopefully :)

Ah, I'm glad you found someone Rida :)
I'll put it on the calender once you've decided on a date and started your thread.

Ok, lets wait till someone else is willing to read it too
As I said in the other thread, we'll be reading it as a group read starting on the 1st of March so no buddy read needed :)
Ooops this reminds me that i have to start reading Shining before march starts. Thnx for unintentional reminder Nikki :)
