Flashman fans should be aware that a book published today (The Speedicut Papers: Book 1 - Flashman's Secret) debunks the entire Flashman legend. Apparently he was a remittance man in Paris and did none of the the things he claimed in The Flashman Papers. It's pretty compelling stuff...

Hmm, 'The Speedicut Papers' . Just seen a review from The Times of this from Monday (April 1st). Written by 'Thomas Arnold', with quotes from Prof Elspeth Morrison and Prof Thomas Hughes it's an April Fool's joke. My only excuse is that it wasn't April 1st when I saw it !
