Do you like the new Wanda at the end of the movie?
Definitely agree! When me and my friends went to see the movie, we were so excited. I couldn't wait but although I thought they did a reasonably job on the film (considering how good the book was) but I have to say that the Wanda at the end was SO ugly! She wasn't how I imagined her and I was really disappointed. Luckily, all the guys were fit so it kind of made up for it. LOL!
THIS IS ALL WRONG!!! She's supposed to have golden blond hair, really fair, fragile, and slight; AND she's supposed to look really young! And her eyes are supposed to be a pretty grey colour, which they're not, and the 'soul' rings around her pupils which look cool on everyone else just look weird and creepy on her. If you ask me, Emily Browning would have been HEAPS better and more convincing if she'd had long blond hair. IT REALLY DIDN'T WORK!!!

i totally agree with you. in the book Stefinie Meyer said that Wanda had long golden hair!

yes I did like the new Wanda totally envisioned her that way. And for twilight fans which I am not one but anyway Stephanie Meyer wanted that actress to play Bella Swan don't believe me it's was in the magazine with the sneak preview of the Host. Do you think the movies would have been better this way?
Personally, I didn't like what she looked like at the end. she didn't look like what I expected at all!!! it was a disappointment.
I was cool with it. She was sort of non-threateningly innocent and that's what I expected with the new Wanda. Honestly a smaller deal than it's being made out to be
I was stunned at the Wanda they chose at the end. She looked like a weird version of the movie "Reneesme."Bleah. And my apologies to the actress, but honey, they really loused up your make-up.
And am I the only one who felt the romance, in the movie, was really rushed? It builds up so slowly and nicely in the bookyes it was very much rushed but honestly in the book it's mostly internal. IT would be a very boring translation. Yeah I think they did focus a bit much on the transportation of the goods (because it gave the movie a bit of action) but I think it's because the book doesn't have a lot of meat to it. Without that action you're left with a rather thin story. It was pretty decent for what it was but Stephenie Meyer isn't exactly Richard Matheson
I agree, I really didn't like the girl they put her in. It didn't fit her character at all, and tbh the girl just looked weird and creepy.
http://www.hdwallpapers.in/walls/emil... She has been blonde! Why couldn't they make her blonde for the movie?
I imagined more of a Dakota Fanning type for Wanda, but I thought Emily Browning fit the innocent, fairy-like look that fit Wanda, too, even though she wasn't exactly what I'd imagined.
I wanted AnnaSophia Robb to be Wanda. But since it wasn't her, I at least expected for the new Wanda to be blond like in the book. I guess they eliminated that because Wanda would only appear for a short time in the film.
The new Wanda at the end gave me the creeps for some reason--I found her appearance very disturbing. Though I will say, I wasn't fond of the way her new body was described in the book, either. It bothered me that she was put in a teeny-tiny, weak, younger-looking-than-her-already-young age body.
I haven't seen the movie, because I heard it's very different from the book, and I tend to hate movies that change the book. I loved the book though.
I did not love Wanda's new look.
It was just so different and that really freaked me out, I could never have expected her to look that way. I didn't like it that she was really small, dainty and her age kinda creeped me out. I don't know, but it really annoyed. I think she suited Melainie's appearance or at least I grew to think of that as her, and then when it was suddenly changed that much it was weird.
i did not like her, i'm sorry, but i think she was pretty ugly. and I expected her to look very different.
Her facial features looked perfect, she looked innocent, and she was short, the ONLY thing that bugged me was the fact that I could have sworn the book described her with having blonde hair... is that me just imagining it?
Mackenzie wrote: "I could have sworn the book described her with having blonde hair... is that me just imagining it?"You didn't imagine it.
Emily Browning was the girl who apparently was Stephanie Meyer's pick to play Bella Swan in Twilight but Emily turned down the role to play Babydoll in Suckerpunch At least thats what I read a few years ago (correct me if I'm wrong). In my opinion, Emily looked super adorable and innocent looking in Suckerpunch and she had, in theory, the innocent looks to pull of Wanda's look in the filmShe looks fine with blonde hair and the Nordic look and I thought Wanda was supposed to have:

The film-makers probably didn't bother asking her to dye her hair blonde because Emily''s role was pretty small.
I thought the contacts she wore in The Host looked really weird on her, but she can pull off light eyes. I do have to agree that Wanda should've been played by a teenager. Although Emily isn't old, she is in her mid-twenties and the role would have suited an EVEN MORE baby-faced girl to match Wanda's description. I think if The Host had been filmed about 4 years ago, Emily would have been just about perfect for the role.
I don't deny that she stuck out in an odd way otherwise you guys wouldn't be mentioning it. And although I'm fine with everyone having their opinion, I don't think that her look is really 'offensive' enough to warrant negative comments saying that she is too big, too dark, too creepy, too ugly or too strong looking for the role.
Yeah she doesn't resemble Wanda's (very brief) description from the book, but its not too far of a stretch, and also, I find it kind of amusing and fitting that Emily was supposed to play Bella but didn't and then for some reason ended up in this movie instead. Also, she's a fellow Aussie and I remember watching her on a TV show called Thunderstone when I was a kid :') so I have nothing bad to say.
I kept watching the movie going, "Who are they going to cast as Wanda." I knew that even though it was a small role, they had to be careful, because if it was a sequel that person would play a significant part. And, sure enough, they got frickin' Emily Browning.
They should have cast someone blonde or given her a wig, because that was very distracting. I kept thinking, "Isn't the hair color off?" It almost makes me wish there would be a sequel to see what she would have done with the role, but I'll settle for the book, when and if it ever comes out.
Bree, Browning doesn't look bad in the pictures that you posted. Something about the way she looked at the end of The Host was unsettling too me, though I'm not sure I can pinpoint what it was, exactly.
Mirkat wrote: "Mackenzie wrote: "I could have sworn the book described her with having blonde hair... is that me just imagining it?"You didn't imagine it."
That's what I thought! I did NOT see her as a brunette. It threw me off, but her facial features matched the description almost perfectly.
I actually do like the actress who played the "official" Wanda but no I did not think she was right for that role. It isn't that, she wasn't what I imagined but.. she just didn't look right. I don't know if it was just me but when they first showed her, she just seemed off to me. The movie was decent though, a little slow for my taste and as always I prefer the book :)
Amber wrote: "No i hated her! But then i hated the whole movie :P"It seemed really rough huh?? It really REALLY bothered me how much information they didn't add or had changed.. but I guess that was to make the movie exciting to people who hadn't read the book, but obviously they didn't account for the fans who'd be watching, they could have at LEAST got the scene with Wanda and Ian right. Just that one scene and I would have been happy.
@mackenzie Yeah they took out a little to much and changed just a lot. The movie came out as basically just a love story and the book was way different.Yeah they could have got a lot of scenes right but they didn't. Something else i would have liked is if they showed parts of wanda's previous lifes. That would have mad a difference instead wanda was just kinda... idk really. DX
I don't like the movie, the movie was blah. But the thing that I hate the most is Emily Browning as Wanda, kissing with Ian. Ugh noooo. Because I already have vision that Wanda is always Melanie/Saoirse. I agree with most of the comments here.
I so not like the new Wanda, she didn't seem cute enough like Pet's description in the book, plus she was supposed to be blonde and Emily Browning did look creepy with the strange eyes, she and Ian didn't make a good couple. So disappointing!
Believe it or not. I don't like the new Wanda either. But if I have to choose her or Melanie's body, I'd choose the new Wanda. The cast was a bad choice except for Max Iron who played Jared.
I am completely disgusted by the movie vs. the book so much was wrong wrong wrong. I imaged the seeker shorter and darker and it was said that she wore dark colors when other seekers did not and am I the only one that imagined jarred being more umm... more James Franco, Jensen Ackles as Kyle Jeremy Remmer or Emile Hirch as Ian. Wanda new body was only 17 but lied about being 18 for Ian and it said in the book that she was very cute and irresistible to be loved and cared for which the actress looked very young so I guess that part is right. but I imaged the cell that they kept her in to be cramped and dark and no where to stretched out and all the tunnels dark and hot and damp and the movie had it lit up like the fourth of July and what happened to the story telling and trying to get her to teach the children. also the attack of Kyle really nowhere near as gripping as the book and what happened to Kyle disappearing to find his love only to find sunny someone who was just like Wanda. My favorite part of the book got cut from the movie which is Walt and Wanda togetherness which I thought was a turning point in the book and showing real humanity from Wanda's point and developing Jared's feeling and belief in Wanda. I was over all disappointed in the movie.
Leni wrote: "HATED THE WANDA THEY CHOSE. Not cool at all. The whole movie was honestly very disappointing. Any one agree or disagree?"I totally agree with the fact that I hated the Wanda they chose! She was supposed to be tiny and have long bouncy golden hair! Also, me and my friend burst out laughing at the huge duck lips that the actress had. Is that wrong? haha another person that I was mad about was the guy at the end who was supposed to be a redhead but instead was black... talk about major difference! I liked the movie though, it just could have been better in some areas.
I loved the book and thought the movie was not bad. I agree Wanda's face was awful silver eyes did not work on her. Talk about taking a beautiful girl and making her look like a mutant.I liked the other girls they picked for their roles. The ending felt a little off too. Them getting pulled off the road randomly in the city for no reason seemed weird and forced. It's been a while since I read the book but I thought it happened in the desert at the car hideout. Oh well it's just a movie.
NaKayla wrote: "She was supposed to be blonde. She doesn't look like I expected her to look like that. But the movie was good. THERE IS SOOOOOO going to be another movie like the book."Why is it that when people make movies out of books they always seem to overlook the fact that some characters are blonde? The actress who played Wanda in the end seemed nice, but she was supposed to represent sunshine: blonde and tiny.
I hated Wanda at the end, like seriously black hair, its suppose to be blond. There's a reason why the author puts detailed description in the book.
Manna wrote: "I hated Wanda at the end, like seriously black hair, its suppose to be blond. There's a reason why the author puts detailed description in the book."I agree with you!! Because the movie was WAY better than I thought it was going to be, but that was one thing that kind of bothered me. I am sure the actress is amazing, but it just isn't what I pictured.

Emmanuel wrote: "I was disappointed too. Because it was said that she was put into a child's body, but at the end.... "To be fair, the book specified a teenager's body--age 16 but young-looking for her age.
Totally agree with you. I thought she was pretty looking, but more in a striking way, where in the book she was depicted as just small and really pretty. She was supposed to be blonde and I understand how hair color and such doesnt always translate into a movie from a book but she just looked the complete opposite. She was also supposed to look so young. Like 16... movie was pretty good overall, but that casting for Wanda at the end after she was out of Melanie's body was just a poor choice.
Kayla wrote: "Totally agree with you. I thought she was pretty looking, but more in a striking way, where in the book she was depicted as just small and really pretty. She was supposed to be blonde and I underst..."I TOTALLY agree.
I agree, in the book she ended up looking like a young blonde girl but in the movie she looked like a teen with brown hair! but otherwise the movie was a great representation of the book! I was actually astounded with how well they did :)
i think the new wanda looked a little odd..you had to get used to seeing her that way to like it.i wish they would have kept it closer to the book...also in the book i wish they wouldent of put her into such a weak body.but you cant really pick what body you pick, now can you haha.
Wanda in her new body Pet, was overcome with shyness so much so that she could hardly look anyone in the eye. She was more than petite, delicate and very childlike. Everyone wanted to protect her and were constantly looking after her and patting her on the head. Regardless of hair colour the actress portraying Pet was too similar to Melanie and was not enough of a contrast to reinforce two separate personalities. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
Well, i like the actress playing Pet. She was beautiful and delicate and definitely made me want to prick her cheecks :P. When in the movie they showed Wanda's new body in the mirror, i was genuinely afraid that maybe the actress wont play the role of Wanderer as good as Saiorse, and i was even trying to find some faults (hey, i know everyone was doing it!!!). But gladly, she played the part very well, i dont care about the Hair color (seriously guys, whats the matter of hair color??). All in all, i like the new Wanda. I'll give her 7/10.

So this new girl who was Wanda at the end, was really Wanda to me, she didn't look like a new girl I didn't know. So no, I wasn't dissapointed. But I do understand why other people didn't like the changes.
