Laura | 124 comments Hi! Is anyone in this group familiar with Amazon policies on reader reviews / threads / content ? Mostly I'm wondering if there are recommendations on changing settings, deleting info, etc. Sad to see another independent fold to the giant. Wondering if someone more familiar with Amazon has started thinking about changes to their goodreads account. I avoid Amazon like the plague so my first instinct is to bail - but I use the goodreads app for ratings and reviews whenever I'm in a brick-and-mortar store. Thanks!

Trice They're at least saying it shouldn't affect general operation other than improving the experience for Kindle users. I guess I'm kind of hoping that's true and willing to wait and see, but I was surprised and disappointed by the move too. This and the linked-to article were some of what I've come across: http://www.teleread.com/amazon/goodre...

Goodreads probably had to make this move for the long term health of the site. It doesn't have much of a way to make money that I know of and it's numbers (costs$$$) keep going up.

That doesn't mean that the long-term will be all positive but I think having this community only helps amazon. We all look around before we end up at amazon in certain cases but we often end up there. A recommendation, a book review, a mention of a "want to read" by a friend all equal dollars for Amazon. If they make it obvious that it's just an Amazon marketing venue there are other options people might seek out.

Overall I am a huge supporter of Amazon in that without them many books would be out of print that we like to read. With them we lose some small stores but with them the reader wins.

Feel free to disagree with that opinion, that's all it is.
