Amazon just bought Goodreads!

I find it ironic that Goodreads librarians were never allowed to use Amazon as a source of information, to keep the books on this site up to date...And now it might be the #1 place for us to go. Of course it's not clear yet, but hopefully it might make it a little easier to update book info on Goodreads.

Any speculations as to what other changes might come about? I wonder if the other booksellers' purchase links will still exist?

You can bet the other links will be increasingly harder to use/find as time goes on. Part of that is because Amazon bought them, but the biggest part is because B&N and the others are asleep at the wheel.

What chance does B&N, Apple iBooks, etc have if they didn't make an offer for Goodreads six months ago? Nuts.

Thanks Seeley. I sense a general uncertainty about some things around goodreads. I guess I'm not the only one with a Randolph Lalond like paranoia of large corporations. (That's really more from his book. I don't know about him.)
