Sorry I have been MIA the last few days. I went back to work on Wednesday and I have been working the middle shift, 10 am- 7 pm. I am on day 4 of a 6 day stretch and then I will have two days off. I'm feeling a bit better...thanks for asking!!! My voice is getting better, but I still get tired fairly easy.
I will be participating in the RaT with a goal of 1500 pages.
I should have some books to post to my shelf on Tuesday when I have a bit more time. Enjoy your reading and hope to see you all soon!!!

I finished reading

I've been thinking about the theme, just wondering if there's a genre that either everyone likes or people hate?
3 DAYS AND 6 HOURS TO THE READ-A-THON START!!!!
Are you ready??? I know I am excited :o)
Any question I let it pass unanswered? I was away for a week, a lot to catch up!
For team captains
Only 3 more days to submit your team's mini-challenge ideas.

Robin, glad you're feeling better!

Almost the end of the weekend here :( Off to the lab shortly to do a few bits. Unfortunately my idea of doing jobs today was thwarted by the delivery of the Hunger Game trilogy yesterday and I may or may not have accidentally read the entirety of

The mini challenge is a non-reading challenge so like 'collecting' covers. The theme is something everybody reads something to do with.
I'll post a link to the rules and Robin's ideas for a mini challenge when I get home in about half an hour- just finishing at the lab and I'm gasping for a cup of tea so I'll do it then :)

Robin's mini challenge ideas:
1.April Showers Bring May Flowers
Since April showers bring May flowers!!! It's also the month to celebrate Mother's Day and what mother doesn't love flowers ☺ With May being the 5th month of year find <5>books on your shelves with flowers on the cover OR the name of a flower in the title/author's name. Take a picture and post it on the thread.
2.Green with Envy
May's birthstone is the emerald. Find five books on your shelves that are at least 50% green. Take a picture and post it on the thread.
Which one do you all prefer?
I'm still thinking about the theme, have some ideas but I'm not sure if they'll work

I'll let you know if I participate or not in a few days

Oh no ShoSho, I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you're ok.
Don't worry about the reading, you don't have to take part, you could always just join in with some of the challenges if you felt like it. Sometimes life does need to take over.
I'll be thinking of you on the other side of the world.

I'm currently trying to get through a book which everyone else seems to love but I think's terrible!!
I like the second mini challenge idea too, shall we go for that one?
As for a theme, how about, a book from your favourite genre, a book with a flower on the front or a book from a series you've started already?

I'm fine with going with the second mini-challenge - send it in! LOL

A book from your favorite genre would probably produce more points from me, so I'll say favorite genre.

**hee hee**

Does that make sense?

Each team should choose a theme for the read-a-thon and read at least one book representing that theme.
*1 point per book read
*30 points if 50% of team members read a book representing the theme
*50 points if all the team members read a book representing the theme
It says to read "at least one"; doesn't seem optional to me. Also says you get 1 point per book read under theme chosen, which makes me think that the more books I can read in the theme means the more points I can help the team out with.
I already have my TBR list of books for May; I have a lot of series I've begun, but just not able to read them in May. I will read

Question: I have a bunch of books slated that are firsts in a series; would these count or do you already have to have started the series before this read-a-thon?
Oops, wait a minute, Cathie...just read the words in black, not what you think the words mean ;-). It says team, doesn't it...not individual members...this is not a good brain day.

If anyone's still confused, there are some updated rules here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
And a list of orange cover ideas is here http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/78...
I shall post this in the RaT thread as well and use that to update on how people are getting on pages wise during the challenge :)

Doesn't it start tomorrow?

It does but they'll accept changes in goals and participation until about halfway through incase people find real life gets in the way (for instance, if I find I'm not working next weekend, I might chose to up the goal or people might find they've got less time to read instead). I'll note your starting page tally too and then if you want to join in, you can :)

That's good because I might not might be reading but I'll be listening while I do my daily walks.
Just a question the page number thing adds the pages of the edition I've added, what if it shows 0 pages or doesn't have page numbers?

So sorry to hear about your loss ShoSho. Sending out prayers to you.
Which ever mini challenge you all choose is fine with me BUT I doubt I will have any series reads coming up for the RaT. I am working on all my other challenges and most of those books are stand alones :(
I hope everyone is doing good and enjoying your books!!!!

Robin, see all the posts where I said the same thing about series books; apparently only the Team, not individual members have to read 1 series book; I've been told the team can do this ;-)

So if I am understanding this right if I can't work a book in based on our theme that would knock us out of the 30 or 50 points.
I have some new series that I am getting ready to start but no continuing series. If the theme was any book from a series I could do that ☺
