I did like the Ponds but I think they'd run their course before they left the series.

I finished
and I can't begin to describe how unpleasant and vile that read was. Unbelievable horror and a very sad commentary on how low a mind can sink. 1 star and I don't think I will ever feel clean again.Need lots of fluff readings for the next few months.
Cathie, how about a Terry Pratchett book (Discworld are usually at the very least humouress) or some of those chick-flick type romances?
I remember years ago I saw that movie Cathie, although I'm not sure why as I hate that kind of thing! I definitely couldn't read the book! Perhaps you need some children's lit now? artemis Fowl? Flavia DeLuce? ;)
Claire wrote: "Cathie, how about a Terry Pratchett book (Discworld are usually at the very least humouress) or some of those chick-flick type romances?"That's what I'm going to be aiming for Claire. American Psycho was a horrendous read; I may never feel clean again :-(.
Great suggestions Karen! (It was a BOTM for a group on here...)
A decision has been made regarding the use of juvenile/children's/middle grade books for Round II. We have decided that we will accept all non-picture books equal to and greater than 160 pages. Little children's books are still not acceptable (for example:
,
, and
).As you are reading your book, think about the following: does it seem like there are 250 words per page? How many pages have you read in 15 minutes - is it more than normal? When you tag your book look at the other editions - does that version's page numbers look similar to the others. If you have a question, ask in the Page Numbers, Just About Page Numbers... and we will help you out.
For all electronic books (ebook/Kindle/audio) that do not have an equivalent print copy on goodreads, they will still be verified for a word count. In situations where electronic books vary by 100 pages to print editions, those will also be verified.
The Moderators and Countess Paige will still be conducting random spot checks. We reserve the right of veto power over some books, specifically ‘gift books’, ‘novelty books’, or ‘coffee table books’.
Thank you for your time and understanding!
I finished Interview with the Vampire
and The Knife of Never Letting Go
.Thus ends my already into have to finish non-fluff reads. Now give me the lighter fare!
@Cathie - well you should read The Vampire Lestat soon as that is the best in that series ;) (maybe after some fluff!!). How did you find Todd and his endless wandering from Prentiss town?
need help ladies , I'm solving puzzle 73 and I'm stuckcan you message me these words if you can find them?(don't post them here)
25)oresnmtmniecoad
Hey ShoSho - I can do a swap with you. I can give you either 13,27,28 or 33 if you give me 15 :)
Karen wrote: "@Cathie - well you should read The Vampire Lestat soon as that is the best in that series ;) (maybe after some fluff!!). How did you find Todd and his endless wandering from Prentiss town?"I found The Knife of Never Letting Go very chaotic and noisey. I might have enjoyed it more if I didn't read it as I read American Psycho. My thoughts on it in a tiny bit of more detail is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Looks like we felt similarly, although I only gave it 2 stars. I can't believe it will be made into a movie?! You're right, that would be so difficult to do without being massively annoying. I found the audiobook good & bad in that way - I experienced the noise, but too often for my taste!
sent!
ah gosh I feel so stupid! of course!
sometimes it just takes another set of eyes perhaps...lol
ok. I need 25. If you can set your sights on that I will give you 27 & 28 :)

I'm giving up on it for the moment!
I'll try again tonight
;)
Do you think it is meant to have a capital letter (and be more than one word)?

Ooohh, I've been looking at that one. :)Sorry I've not been on here as much, I've been reading but I've also been desperately trying to finish in the lab (last day in the lab is next Friday and all of my cells died last week, putting me a week behind! And I'm moving house this weekend :D Looking forward to it but I've been trying to pack everything (and I've not finished yet :s)
Hope you're all ok. Once I've moved, I'll be back on here a bit more posting things again :)
I finished Shatter Me which was a Buddy Read/BOM which is for Option 4 :) I should have 2 more done over the weekend which will leave me with 2 more to go. YAY!!!!Shatter Me

Yes I am planning on reading the third one. A little bird by the name of Karen told me the last one is better lol :)
Let me clarify.... It is better, but Katniss is still whiny and the love triangle stuff is still alive and kicking. Don't blame me if you give it 1 or 2 stars....lol
I finished Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald
. A 5 star read imho.I'm so confused about this 7 in 7 challenge; there are so many categories and so many rules; I have no idea if I have met the requirement, fulfilled my part of the challenge, etc. I know I have read a lot of books this month ~ 24!! (The most I have read in any month!)
So...how many books do each of us have to read?
Karen wrote: "Let me clarify.... It is better, but Katniss is still whiny and the love triangle stuff is still alive and kicking. Hi Cathie, sorry, busy weekend and no internet! In theory, we only need 7 books read each but they would all need to fit perfectly. I'm going to go through and see if I can finish any of the other categories off and I'll let you all know what we have left to do.On a plus, I'm now in my new little flat, so lovely and looking forward to being there tonight :) The 20 (ish) minute commute means plenty of reading time!
And one more week in the lab and then deadlines every week for 3 weeks after that!! Eeeekkk!! :)
Happy reading everyone
So, just submitted 2 more categories, leaving 2 more to finish, Behind Enemy Lines, which I'm halfway through a book which will fit that and BOTM/Buddy Reads, which Robin's working her way through. And then we'll be done.Robin, I know you're happy working through the BOTMs but if you want me to, I'll reread Discovery of Witches and join in with that BOTM disscussion, entirely up to you, I don't want you to think you HAVE to read all of them (although you're more than welcome to :) )
Everyone happy with that?
YAY!!! I'm fine with what you've done :)And YAY for being in your new place, Claire :) I've got my clothes sorted and most of my books packed. The girls have packed some of their toys and sorted through clothes. We're going to try to get our stuff moved next week. I'm working on lesson plans today...just watched a series of videos on the Dark Ages. My book kind of glosses over the entire period and covers it in 1 section.

and thanks for sorting the 7% challenge.
anyone for doing the puzzles? we still have word find , a doublet and another puzzle left!
I shall try and do them tomorrow over lunch at work :-) hopefully, I'll get my dongle sorted tomorrow as a temporary measure.
Hallo everyone! I've had to come up with a challenge for us to do during August and I wanted to check my idea with you all before I submit it. Let me know what you think and I'll submit it on Thursday depending on what you say :)7 books, one set on each continent
15 books to spell ATOMIC TANGERINE
August was the sixth month of the Roman Calendar until named after Caesar Augustus so 6 books which are number 6 in the series, have 'six' in the title or series, six words in the title/series/authors/combination
X books read by other team mates since January 2013
X books read by people in other teams since the challenge started
X books, each featuring a different form of transport on the cover or as a main part of the story (view spoiler)
X summer tales (set mostly in the summer or with either 'summer' or 'sun' in the title)
August was a busy month in ancient history, eg Mount Vesuvius erupted in August 79 AD, the last day of Roman Civilisationw as August as well etc: X books set in Ancient times (not just Roman)
Several inspirational people were born or died in August and famous speeches were made, X books which inspire you. (view spoiler)
The Great Train Robbery occurred in August. X Crime books
The 'X's must total 47 for an overall total of 75 books between us but with at least one from each category.
Hope that makes sense, I'll post it in a better format if we decide to go for it.
Also, were you happy with just reading and then deciding where they went or would you rather pre pick where your books go? I tend not to plan more than a couple of books each month and then see what I fancy but I would be willing to try doing that (might be a good experiment actually) if you would all prefer that. Equally, we can do a mixture if that's better for you.
