❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments In case you didn't see it on previous page so I'm reposting it....

We opened a thread for our August game to keep easier track. If you have any question about it, please post it there. And reserve your posts if you are playing.

You can find it here - Scattered Hobbits.

For easier tracking (yours and ours) I'm asking you to use one post per letter (that means if you're going with 3 letters, you'll have 3 scattergorie posts) or use post per book (in that case you'll have to indicate letter and category used).
For this challenge part of the tracking you'll have to do yourself. We can only keep track of spell-out part (author, title, characters).

Again, books finished in August can be used.

@Karen: never read Sarah Mclean. I will try her.

I've read the Gamblers, Wallflowers too. I'm on Married By Morning (The Hathaways, #4) by Lisa Kleypas .

You've got to tell my why you didn't love Devil in Winter.
Next to Reseph in Rogue Rider (Lords of Deliverance #4; Demonica #9) by Larissa Ione , I cant think of a more despicable guy the author had to redeem. Harry in Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas ranking in my top 5!

LK did her thing with St Vincent and even worked in Ivoe Jenner! She is the queen. Excuse me while I go kiss her feet :)

Oh ! there I agree , it was pretty much impossible to redeem st vincent and she actually did , and it was a great story , I just like the 2nd and 4th one( my fave) better.

I have to get back to hathaways , there the second book ruined it for me , my expectations were sky high for the couple and I hated it , but im sure the rest are good will get back to it soon :)

I have read bow street runners 1st and 2nd too , have you?

ooh ! Please do , you will fall in love with her I guarantee you.

come on tea , you have to read these , atleast read lord of scoundrels .

message 1208: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) I tried Elizabeth Hoyt twice...and wasn't as moved. I haven't tried Loretta Chase yet. I will see what they have at audible.

I have the bow street runners (Lisa Kleypas) in paperback from a garage sale for 25cents, and it's at my job for a time when the kindle, ipod and electricity goes kaput. We had a few times when that happened at work and we were bored. So I brought some paperbacks and left them at work :)

Then I have Where Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas in the car for a time where I run out of gas, have no phone and my kids are playing with my kindle. That's never happened as I never plan to run out of gas especially carrying my young kids, but hey, a girl has to have a contingency plan in the event of an unexpected emergency.

(okay, I know I am a tad nuts)

I have a charger at work, one in my purse, one in the car and one at home. I'll be doggone it if my kindle or phone dies on me (LMAO).

When we went on the cruise in May, my husband was mad I was reading, he took my kindle and locked it up in the safe. I didn't know the combination. That clown forgot my ipod, so I had to wear my hair down in that heat so it can cover my ears, then put the ipod in my bra so the wire things were inside my shirt. I got through Divergent, Insurgent and City of Ashes before he caught on---then confiscated that one too.
I had to drown my sorrows with the fruity drinks with an umbrella.

Happy vacations Tea :)

Btw do rereads count or not?

message 1218: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Karen wrote: "Btw do rereads count or not?"

Everything you read in August counts (of course if it's over 160 pg). For most challenges rereads have to be older then six months to count. In this case, it will count if you read it before this Round started (aka before April) - only because if it's later than that we won't get another book in our challenge tracker ☺.

It's fine by me, if Mods don't have anything to say. ☺

Mods turn a blind eye, as they have way too many other things to track. Like someone who read a book with only six words to a page.

There's a new cupcake coming.
It's mad and it's bad.
Some of you will be humming.
Some of you will be glad.

It's called the "Triple Threat"
And as it's name implies...
While it isn't a sure bet,
It increases your book count size.

very curious about this now :)

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments This is a new cupcake that will be earned by puzzles. It will let us(the captains) post books our team members have read that are over 900 pages, and if they can be confirmed by the mods, we will get to add 2 to our book total. Essentially, this means a book over 900 pgs could be worth 3 books instead of one.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Just a reminder:

If you are participating in the August Challenge of Scattered Hobbits, you will need to post the items you find in your books. We can not tell just from tagging the book what you have found in it except for title and author. The team will need to read 75 books this month for this challenge to earn Book Advantage Points for August.

The items to look for and what letters they should start with are listed in post 5 of the Scattered Hobbits thread or found on the August Scattergories spreadsheet.

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE. This is meant to be a fun and entertaining game to play.

I agree with Tea. Bartering works for me.

We are definitely not trying to make this hard and we are not going to scrutinize what you put in each category. As long as it starts with the right letter and is not completely different, such as just putting the phrase 'lightning bolt' under the category animal, we are taking your word for it that you feel it fits the category.

message 1243: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) the challenge is made more tricky by the fact that half of my monthly reads comes from audiobooks :)

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments I don't think we need an exact pg number. If you are listening to a book and find something you want to use, maybe you could put chapter or how long into the book instead? Something like that may work for you.

Maybe do away with recording the exact location as long as it is in the book....need more input on this first though.

I think it's more that with audiobooks you don't really pay attention to words so it's difficult to spot one if you're looking for something. Well, that's in my case. :) I'm thinking that if I do go with audios this month I'll use them for first part (author, title, names) only

well, I happen to have the e-book version of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires (Half Moon Hollow, #1) by Molly Harper and Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers . so I was able to listen to the books and quickly jot the down the word on my notepad and search my kindle.

message 1247: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) I decided to use my kindle books or audios where I also have the kindle book. I am enjoying the game.
I think I will try for all the letters, but let me finish the 4, then do another 4 next week :)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I'm glad you are enjoying it. :)
I have so many things highlighted in books I've finished that it'll be fun to sort them out when I get home. I find myself even marking words like guitar and then after few pages I remember we don't have that letter. :D
Do you have any idea how many things I found with letter S? Oh, why didn't we put that one?! Or W? All books were quite windy. :P

message 1249: by Ezi (new)
