message 1901: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I know we have more books than cupcakes, correct? I came to the library and I've worked on the Encryption one for a half hour now, and I can't figure it out. It's the first one, ever, that I can't find two works to work on to get it going. I'm just stumped on that one. If we desperately need it, I'll give it another go, but if we don't, I'm gonna give up. I hate that it stumped me!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Brooke, have you tried using Manual Cipher Decoder? It makes it easier, but doesn't give you the answer.

message 1903: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Don't worry about it Brooke.

message 1904: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments But if the short is on goodreads, it needs to have a read date, correct?

message 1905: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I thought we had enough cupcakes to cover us with the limit given. But if we can turn in more than 5 today, do we need more cupcakes?

I messed up the word wheel and never went back to it but I could fix it if we need the cupcake. I've been concentrating on finishing a triple threat because Vicky said we could use more books for those cupcakes.

No, I'm taking "currently-reading," if you post a link to an anthology from which the Team Member only read a few.

For the hyperlinks to websites, I'll just use the honor-system.

You can put the 'date read' by the story and book (if there is one, please add), like you've always done.

message 1907: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Lisa Kay wrote: "Brooke, have you tried using Manual Cipher Decoder? It makes it easier, but doesn't give you the answer."

Nope, I never used that. It won't open up on the library computer, so I can't now. I've just always done it on my own through Word. It was always easy. I think it's because of the nature of the book, there are probably different words in it. I thought I had a roll going but one of the letters I thought was right was clearly not, so I had to start over. I'll be doing them next round though, they were so fun, usually. :)

Sorry I don't have the longer books to read to help out with those, non of my to-read books are more than 600 or so pages, I guess I just read the normal length stuff.

I don't want the challenge to be over. What will I do if I can't check in on Pewter Blue everyday? :)

message 1908: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Any puzzles we can do that will get us bouncing cupcakes, we could still use. I only have 17 more cupcakes to spend there but ~30 books that will qualify.

message 1909: by Mary X (last edited Nov 15, 2013 11:06AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I'm both relieved and disappointed that it's over. Relieved because I'm tired of doing the Sunday updates and checking peoples page counts and read dates etc.., Also I have a bunch of print books I put off reading because they didn't meet the page count and I'd like to get those off my bookshelves.

But I will miss the team. I'll miss the mini-challenge too but not having to organize them, plan them and submit them. Looking forward to just being a team member next time and not a captain.

I'm also disappointed that it's over because for awhile there I thought we had a real shot at cracking the top 3 and then after we made the big drop we just couldn't get a good lead to cement us into the top 4. I think we did pretty darn good considering we had more than a couple people leave, we formed late and half our team rarely if ever posted onto the team threads.

message 1910: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I looked back at the encryption, and found what I was looking for. Should be smooth going now. I just needed to step away from it I guess. Working on it now, will send it in ASAP.

message 1911: by Mary X (last edited Nov 15, 2013 11:25AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I suck at the sliders but I can see if I can fix the word wheel. Not sure if I can. I even looked online and couldn't find enough words that start with P that aren't too obscure to use.

I think Andrea said she did the crossword but I don't think she submitted it yet.

eta: she did the word search and we already have the cupcakes for that. I did that one as the test bunny too. I printed out the crossword. Let me see if I can finish it up. I lost patience with searching for the trivia clues.

message 1912: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Sent in the Encryption. It should be correct. :)

I'm sorry that this challenge stressed you out some Mary. I will miss it but I know you did a lot of work and I think our group did GREAT for the in and out people we had and some other issues, plus starting later. It was great.

message 1913: by Mary X (last edited Nov 15, 2013 12:02PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments OK made some progress on the crossword. I have no idea how to find the answers to some of these. Like how many players left and came back. It's one of 2 answers but I can't fill anymore letters in from other clues.

For the ones with team names, I've just been counting the spaces and seeing which team names fit best.

So if anyone knows some answers, please PM me, don't post them here. Like most common name. I think I know it but I could be wrong.

message 1914: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Mary: HDLS, the direction tell you how to check and see if you got the crossword right, if you want to try that.

Also, there is a note about B'Dazzled being spelled wrong (sorry).

message 1915: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Well, since I have no Team now, and I'm still turning in cupcakes for Cadet Blue (since I used to belong to them) - and I used to belong to Pewter Blue... I can do the Sliders for you. Just give me a few.

message 1916: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Oh i forgot about that. I will go do it online now.

message 1917: by Mary X (last edited Nov 15, 2013 12:33PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments finished the trivia crossword and turning that in for another cupcake.

message 1918: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Hmmm... minutes ago I was just talking to the person that has the most overall... on the Team that has the most. Has a Christmas-y name. **hinthint**

I'll charge you a hint if you continue! :D

message 1920: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I finished the crossword so not sure what you are talking about.

I just needed to refresh, Mary: HDLS.

BTW, sliders for puzzle #189 are done.

Captain Cupcake | 628 comments New jigsaw puzzle posted here... worth lots of "bouncies"!

message 1924: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I am going out in a few minutes and will be late. But I will check for short story updates first thing in the morning and do the jigsaw if no one has gotten to it yet.

message 1925: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Ok I submitted the jigsaw puzzle. I finished my triple threat book. We still need an N and an I for the spell out. I have an ebook anthology by Jackie Ivie that I've already read 1 story for. I'm going to finish that up to give us the I and another book read.

When my IPOD is charged, I have a super short audiobook by Nora Roberts that I can do for N called Winter Rose. If no one has gotten to it by then. I don't think it's even 3 hours long.

message 1926: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments I finished As They Slip Away. I won't send in the word search then if we've already got the cupcakes for it.

message 1927: by Mary X (last edited Nov 16, 2013 07:20PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Everyone is so quiet. If you have books you are about to finish up, remember they need to finished pretty early tomorrow. I think it's about 2pm my time (EST) but I need time to click all our links, update our spreadsheet and submit the update.

I'm hoping I can finish one more book tonight/early tomorrow. Probably the other 2 shorts in the anthology that Be Still My Heart came from. I've already read 2 of the four.

message 1928: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Oh and I submitted Task 5 for us and we got those points. Vicky has been busy submitting cupcakes and I believe has 1 more submission she can do early tomorrow. Normally they don't allow cupcake redemption on Sundays but if I read the thread right, they are allowing them early tomorrow. Probably to give people one last chance to finish those long books.

message 1930: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Alright posting my two books this week - hope they make it in. The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

message 1931: by Vicky (last edited Nov 16, 2013 10:52PM) (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Whew, just posted our last cupcakes. I'm hoping to finish another book before the update tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it happen, we have lots going on around my house lately.

message 1932: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Sarah they will make it into the count. Books posted too late today might not.

I fell asleep and didn't get anymore of that anthology read so not sure if I'll have another one to add. Maybe if I have my Kindle read it to me.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Sorry I won't finish any books by today. I've been busy with work and other things and haven't had much time for reading.

Either way, we did a great job on the challenge! I am so happy for us all.

message 1934: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Finished up the book I was reading. Sorry I didn't get more in. The group have been so fun and we did great. Awesome job everyone.

message 1935: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I decided to finish up a murder mystery instead.

I will be doing on our last update very soon. According to the Mods they are starting to the final update at 2:30 pm my time which is almost 3 hours from now. So I will wait just a little longer in case someone is finishing up something.

message 1936: by Riya (new)

Riya Sorry- I won't be finishing up my book until tomorrow morning- so I guess it won't count...

message 1937: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments We passed 1000 books guys! Way to go. Our final official total right now is 1001. Nika has been messaged to add a book she finished to our shelf so maybe 1002 if she see the message in time.

I just clicked on all the links and updated the spreadsheet.

message 1938: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Oh and please don't delete your shelves for this yet. Not that I think any of you would but apparently at least one player on another team has. I know the winning team has already been picked but I'd like to see where we are in the final stats.
