Riya Right now I'm 2 ahead for the overall challenge, so hopefully I can maintain the momentum and keep reading. Most of the books I read will probably be done during the weekends, so hopefully my weekends won't get too busy!

message 1502: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Darn, sad to hear that we dropped. I haven't looked yet. I read one book slowly the last few days, as I had some other things to do but I finished it up today, read another book today and am 10% into my 3rd book. Hopefully we'll shoot back up with the reading we've already started out with for today. :)

message 1503: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Bummer, we can still make it up easily enough though!

We have 1 Triple Threat and 21 Bouncing Cupcakes to turn in from August. I was waiting for the month to be over because of the series - makes it easier to keep track of - but I'll be turning them in after I get home! :)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I'm back (sort of) in the swing of reading so hopefully I can contribute to our number going up next week. I'm on page 100 of one book and have read the first chapter of another. A headache is making it no fun to read today, which sucks because this is my day off! I'll take a shower and see if that makes me feel better, then get back to the books.

message 1505: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I turned the TV off and listened to 2 discs while I worked on my tapestry and did the dishes. Which puts me half-way through disc 5 of 10 of The Lost Hours by Karen White. I am liking this book a lot. I will try to finish it tomorrow since I'm off.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I'm glad I didn't plan a BBQ or anything for today. This is what the weather is here today, complete with flood warnings:

Sarah | 3273 comments Been lounging around all day but instead I have been sleeping the day away. Every time I lay down to read I get drowsy and nap.

message 1508: by Riya (new)

Riya I finished another book today, and hopefully I can keep up my momentum of 1 book each day or two! Sadly I have tons of homework to deal with as well, so I'm not sure :/

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Been making my way through Calculated in Death (In Death, #36) by J.D. Robb . I like it but I'm a little bored of the formula for the night so I am thinking of starting something from a different genre to accompany this one.

message 1510: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I'm home, yay!

I got home last night after a fairly irritating drive. I started off getting stuck behind a caravan of "oversized load" vehicles on a road where I couldn't pass them and ended with traffic due to an accident about 20 minutes from my home.

I was hoping to get two audiobooks done on the drive, but I got up a bit to early and had to forgo my second audiobook in exchange for loud music to keep me awake, lol. I did listen to Storm Front though!

I'm off to catch up on everything. Glad to be back in business as normal. :D

 48 Hour<br />Puzzle Crazy

Cool Text: Logo and Graphics Generator

We've had the addition of a few new Teams,
Who are also sharing our TTRC dreams.

It only seems fair they should get a chance,
at all those puzzles that hold you, as well as entrance.

But I don't want to leave you out of the fun,
so you'll get an opportunity, too, at those NOT done.

I'll give extra hours to Banana Mania, Forest Green, and Pewter & Cadet Blue,
who also has a lot of members who are new, too.

Still, all the rest of you are granted forty-eight.
“Rev Your Engines!” to get a running start at the gate.

I've given you some important links below.
Remember, there are more links in Post #1, to the puzzles, you know?

Okay, 48 hours to you, and 72 hours for the Teams that are new.
I'm excited! Let me see how many cupcakes you can accrue.

Oh! By the way, your time starts now!
Stop reading this and get working. Holy Cow!

Here is where to post!

Cupcake Puzzle Crazy 48 Hour End for Old Teams

Cupcake Puzzle Crazy 72 Hour End for New Teams

May Puzzles for Cupcakes

message 1512: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Hmm. I think we've been pretty good about earning all our possible cupcakes. Maybe not for May since we didn't form until Mid-May and didn't have a full team until June.

Vicky has been keeping track of our cupcakes.

message 1513: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments So.., I wasn't around last night because it was Grandmere's wake.

I don't know if I'll be around tonight because I really need to mow my lawn. Then I need to fix my computer. It worked fine this morning when I synced my IPOD. But then I tried to turn it on when I went home for lunch and all of a sudden it doesn't recognize me as a user. Hopefully I can just do a system restore.

message 1514: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Yay! I was able to restore my computer to a previous date. I have no idea what happened. I have a habit of closing the lid before it's fully shut down and I wonder if that caused a problem this time. I noticed when I opened the lid it immediately did something before I even hit the power button.

Yay!

message 1516: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments We have all the June/July/August Cupcakes from Puzzles. I've done about half of the May puzzle today but got an e-mail from Captain Cupcake about a situation that might give us more May cupcakes. Waiting to hear back about that before I carry on with the rest. :)

message 1517: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Just picked up my baby girl from her first day of preschool. When one little girl was dropped off she was screaming and crying for her mom and mom was crying and the teacher urged the mom to just go. Lola is like "Mom, will u stay with me at school?" then we get there and she is like - See ya. No good bye, no acknowledgement when I left. Nothin!

message 1518: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments My daughter was like that when she started school.

message 1519: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments So which May puzzles do we need to do? We only need to submit one of the picture ones right? I'll take a look and see if there's any Doublets or crosswords to do.

message 1520: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I did #11, 13, 15 & 18 from May. But my eyes hurt and I need to get off the computer.

Hopefully the spreadsheet will be updated tomorrow and we can see what others we need. It looks like they've added all of the ones Vicky did.

message 1521: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Vicky were any of the puzzles you did ones that more than one person can do? #18 is a doublet but I don't know if we can all do it or if just one person needs to do it. I'll go ask.

message 1522: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I did not like The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald when I read it in high school, but OMG, the movie was amazing. One case where the movie was better than the book.

message 1523: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Sent #128 & 129 for the new Sept Cupcakes.

message 1524: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Thanks Brooke.

Today is the day where I'm alone at the office almost all day. I will see if I can get another puzzle or two done from May. Will depend on how much the phone is ringing.

message 1525: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) NP Mary. :)

Sent #130. I'll try #131, but I'm not good at the word wheel ones, if someone else is able to get it done before me. :)

message 1526: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I couldn't get any done. Will try tonight after I take my daughter shopping for a new bathing suit and some school supplies.

Are we missing 130 & 131? I haven't checked out the september ones yet. I'm pretty good at the word puzzles & the jigsaws but I suck at the sliders. It takes me forever to do those and many restarts.

message 1527: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I just sent in a bunch of puzzles for the May catch-up. Unless I got one wrong, we're good there. Although as always feel free to do any puzzles as we get more options when more of us do them.

message 1528: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I just sent in #131. I think it's correct, but there is one clue I'm a bit iffy on. I'll let you all know when I hear from Captain Cupcake. :)

message 1529: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I did a couple of the word puzzles for May. But I'm beat and going to bed. I don't think I'll be up early enough to do any in the morning.

As far as I know, there's only a deadline to get older puzzles done. The Sept ones should be good throughout the month.

message 1532: by Karsyn (last edited Sep 07, 2013 06:22PM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I am. :) Trying to finish this book (on my Kindle) tonight, but hubby is getting sleepy so I don't know if I will be able to before he heads to bed with it to read.

message 1533: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Just busy with family stuff for the weekend. Wish I was reading.

message 1534: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) He went to read before bed, I was only at 80%, so I'll finish it up after he goes to sleep. :)

Sorry you are unable to read Sarah.

message 1535: by Riya (new)

Riya I'm actually in Boston right now and I'm finishing up some books on my flights!!! Right now about a third into A Thousand Splendid Suns. It's really good so far.

message 1536: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Oh what a great book - A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini . Khaled Hosseini is an amazing author. I hope I get to The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini next year.

message 1537: by Riya (new)

Riya The kite runner is amazing. Definitely one of my all time favorites; hopefully this one will be just as good!

message 1538: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Boston! You are about 2 hrs from me.

I spent the day at Rocky Neck State Park in CT with a friend, my daughter and my daughter's friend. I had my Kindle read to me this morning while getting read and I'm going to have it read to me now while I get ready for bed.

I'm going to a Woman's Expo at the Hartford Civic Center tomorrow with a couple of friends. I'll probably have my Kindle read to me in the car. It's 30min each way so an hour of listening ought to make a good dent in my Kindle book. It's not long.

message 1539: by Riya (new)

Riya Oh nice Mary!!! Boston's great- it's my second time visiting and it's already one of my favorite cities. Tomorrow I have to leave though and return to Wisconsin :(

message 1540: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Just did the Sunday Update. We are at 661 books read and have 725 with our BAP. We are at 53% of our goal which is 12% above "on-track".

Go Team! :D

message 1541: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Thanks for doing the update Vicky!

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments We are back up to 5th place. Way to bounce back team!

message 1543: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) sent puzzles 132, 133 and 134.

message 1544: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Yeah team, cause it sure wasn't me who helped. My reading has slowed down this past week. Working on three books right now and missing out on all my BR and BOTM reads. I am so behind.

message 1545: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I'm behind too. But I got through disc 3 of an audio today. I would be done with disc 4 but for some reason Itunes locked up on my phone and I couldn't listen in the car on the way to my TOPS meeting and back. It's 20min each way so that cost me 40 min of listening. I had to reset my phone to get it to work again.

message 1546: by Riya (new)

Riya My book count has gone significantly up. Since school started I haven't been able to read a ton during the week, but each weekend I finish at least one book if not 3 or something!!!

message 1547: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Everyone has gone quiet again.

The “Cutthroat Competitor Cupcake” is coming!

This is a cupcake that’s NOT fooling around.
Hard to conquer, but your BAPs will surely mound.

You thought the “Triple Threat” was hard to earn?
This one’s NOT vinegar; yet, neither is it sauterne.

This cupcake counts as ‘cuatro’ – which translates to four.
With a 350,000-word-endurance, these books are worth tons more.

This Captain will give you four BAPs to really increase your points.
After all that page turning, this isn’t one that disappoints.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I finally finished Calculated in Death (In Death, #36) by J.D. Robb

I'm currently reading two books: The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen and White Lies (Arcane Society, #2) by Jayne Ann Krentz , and I'm about to add The Camel Club (Camel Club, #1) by David Baldacci into the mix sometime this weekend. I need to return White Lies and Camel Club SOON so I need to get through them both as fast as possible.

Other than that, work is busy and random hours but i am off tomorrow so I hope to get some more reading in.

message 1550: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I finished 2 up today. The Mackenzies Boxed set by Liliana Hart and Crystal Gardens by Amanda Quick.

As a team we are at 673 books. Maybe we can hit 700 over the weekend.
