Nice haul, Sarah!!

Hope you get some much-needed rest! And I hope you have a good day at work.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Woot, woot, message 1000 accomplished! I guess getting up too early had one merit today, LOL!

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Wow when I said I wanted to bump it up into a 1,000 I thought it would take a few days. There's teams with over 2,000 posts. Of course there's also ones with much lower than 1,000.

Anyway, I like it when the thread is active.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I also love active folders to discuss books, etc.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Seems like daily topics help to garner interest in posting. Last night/today it's animated films! And of course everyone has a favorite and then others recall that they forgot one or two so we have to make a new post for that, hehe.

And any excuse to post pics, right Sonia? ;)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Oh yeah! I forgot all about the Pixar movies!! I love Wall-E and Ratatouille and Up!! I love the rest but I think those are my faves. Oh, and I cannot decide which Toy Story is my favorite. Wait... how could I forget Finding Nemo?? Love Dory! So... I guess I just named all my faves but I love the others, just a little less, haha. Least favorite is Cars and I think it could have done with about 30 minutes of the middle cut out.

Some of my love for these movies is definitely inspired by watching them with my son as he's grown up. Finding Nemo was a favorite of his for so long. He'd scream, "NEMO!" when he wanted to watch it, hehe. He imitates Wall-E, saying his name in that robotic tone. And we both just love to watch that adorable little rat do all of the cooking in Ratatouille.

message 1012: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I love monsters in and finding nemo!

I also spent like one month begging for the ant from a bug's life to my supervisor when I worked at fnac - we had boxes and boxes of the cute ant to offer to the ones who bought monsters inc dvd. I was 27 back then.

I GOT THE ANT!!!

:D

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Up was awesome. Loved that movie.

I've been meaning to do a question of the day for awhile now. If someone comes late at night or early in the morning and there hasn't been a new question posted, feel free to do one.

Oh yay Sarah, you got The Edible Woman. I hope you like it!

My favorite cartoon has to be the Lion King with The Little Mermaid a close second. I also really liked Mulan, Pocahontas, Rapuntzel, Lilo&Stitch, Finding Nemo, Happy feet, Wall-E, Shrek 2 (one of the few times I thought the sequel was better than the first movie) and Toy Story 3 (I was in tears at the end of that one...). I liked the recent live-action Snow White movie "Mirror Mirror" too - I thought it was fun in a silly way.

Riya Up was so so sad!!!

message 1017: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments So many posts since I went to bed last night!

I have so many favorite animated movies.

I love Miyazaki's films! Laputa/Castle in the Sky my favorite but I've never seen a film by him that I didn't like. I also love Grave of the Fireflies which is another Studio Ghibli film that wasn't directed by MIyazaki himself. Other Japanese movies I love are Akira, Perfect Blue, Spriggin and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

If I had to pick a favorite Disney movie it would be Mulan, other top movies are love Pocahontas, The Lion King, Brother Bear and Meet the Robinsons.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I am a magnet to books and movies about prep schools, camps, universities boarding schools, public schools and private schools. I loved School Ties, Mr. Holland's Opus, A Separate Peace, Prep and on and on and on. I recently read a blurb about a book called The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girlsand immediately reserved it from my library. I picked it up yesterday and read the first few pages and found myself really enjoying them and then made a critical error by reading some reviews at Amazon. With 3 and a half stars I don 't know if this read will be worth it. I am so annoyed that I id this and should be able to use my own mind but since there out there I read them and mainly only the 1 star reviews at that.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I feel like I should get 3 days of posting out of my system, LOL. I'll have a tablet with me but I can't stand using it for GR stuff or most anything, other than a quick IMDB look-up if someone looks familiar on TV. I hate not having an actual keyboard, I hate that I can't see most of the page because it's a small screen or else the page is tiny, I don't like having to use apps just to access a website, etc. Yeah, I'm not a tablet girl, LOL!

Christmas movies...

My all-time favorite:

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments LOL, dunno, must be along the same lines as that packing you mentioned...

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments (For the record, I have gotten up to look for stuff to pack, only to realize I can't remember where the bag I want to use is...so sitting here refreshing made much more sense than looking for it right now).

I have to go. In 6 hours I'll be regretting my refreshing skills.

Have a nice trip.

message 1031: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Oh gosh, I hate packing. My fiance lives in Canada and I'm in Delaware, since his job is much less flexible than I, I visit every other month or so. I usually start packing a day early and end up frantically packing everything else at midnight before I plan on leaving by 9am the next day. Whoops!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Sweet Dreams, Sonia!

LOL, Vicky! I am such a last-minute packer. I actually do best when I wait until the last minute. I've already gathered up all of the clothes I want to pack because being so last-minute means I won't agonize over this shirt or those shorts, etc. It's just "grab and go" because who has time now??

My son and I packed his bag earlier so he's almost all set..just have to pack the little things you can't pack until you're done using them.

Oh, I have not packed my books yet! I think I'm making this a contemporary YA/mystery thriller trip. I just checked out Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson and it feels very fitting for a car ride. Only problem is, it has a bunch of playlists inside and that reminds me that i haven't picked out music for the ride. Woe is me...

So, I'm almost done, which means I can justify the refresh button, ha!

I *really* should get to bed, LOL! Fear not, I shall bombard you with posts and images when I return, hahaha. Or maybe if the tablet cooperates, while I'm in the hotel before sleep!

I am a packing machine and do it very easily and quickly, I must admit. I begin by making a list of what I want to take and checking that everything is clean. Two days before by selecting my clothes and hanging them in the front of my closet. The items which are folded and underwear are put on a chair or the couch in our second bedroom. I put all of my toiletries into my cosmetic bag except for those items I still will be using and these are packed shortly before we leave. The night before I make changes sometimes but usually my wardrobe is pretty much set. Mind you I don't travel on business but rather on vacation and for long periods of time overseas. We usually cruise but ship life has changed and even on tours or going it alone, if I learned one thing it's not to take a lot of clothes. One can have laundry done or you can always do it and I also take underwear that's worn and I just throw it away. We've traveled for as much as a month and I don't sweat what I wear as long as it's clean.

But if I pack quickly I used to agonize over which books to take. I would stand at my shelves and choose and then put back and choose again. But now that's all changed since I just pick up my I PAD, I have tons of books downloaded, and the charger and off we go. Our next travel plans are a tour of eastern Europe for three weeks in October. If you've traveled there, any suggestions for where to go, what to do and where to eat.

message 1047: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I don't travel much. But now that I have a Kindle, I just grab that and maybe one paperback as a just incase.

I actually don't read much when I travel. If I go somewhere new I like to be busy the whole time. I'm not a go to the beach and relax type person. While I love to relax, I can do that at home. I like to take busy vacations.

message 1048: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Yesterday I was a bit bored which may annoy some of you who work, take care of children, etc. and would love to have free time. After teaching full time for may years I am semi retired and substitute teach and during the summer most of my activities are put on hold and it's supposed to be relax time but I don't deal well with an unstructured life. So while I am sitting here and should be enjoying myself reading and writing, I feel as though I should be doing something. I already made a large list of things to do and I feel as though I should get up and do them but I still want to spend more time here so I guess I will just do that.

We also do busy vacations and when we cruise we usually are in a port every day except when we did a reposition cruise and spent a week without any sight of land. But even then, there's lots to do an a ship and time to read as well. On tours we generally have time on a bus or plane to read. You will never see us sitting on a beach (we can do that in New Jersey at the shore and rarely if ever do this either) but before bed I can generally read or on an overseas flight that's all I do.
