Pewter Blue

This is also pretty clever, though I can see the book flying up quickly and the leash flying off the hook.

I clean when I'm feeling down:

One of my favorite things to do when I'm blue is listen to music. It usually lifts my spirits and I often find myself in a funk if I go too long without listening to music at all, other than what is played in the car. Those rides are short and not quite as therapeutic as when I put on a favorite playlist. My standby spirit lifter band is Keane.

Sometimes I veg out on the couch watching some sort of "comfort" show ("Frasier" is a favorite) or a movie that I've watched a million times, something like "9 to 5" or "Clue" usually does the trick. One of my newer favorites is "Pitch Perfect." I love just popping that in while I do other things or when I nap.

I've been in a reading funk and a Goodreads funk (horrible combination!) and posting this has kind of helped!

So, my friend must be a little psychic or something. I left work early because it was slow and I was just laying on the couch reading. (I already had my pajamas on a 4:30 in the afternoon). Anyway she calls my cell phone & when I told her I was at home she talked me into meeting her at the mall. We had dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then did a couple of laps around the mall. I got myself a new camera. Mine is broken and Radio Shack had some on clearance. I had a pomegranate margarita w/dinner. Yum.

My friend and are doing some stuff later in the week so that will help. Nothing we couldn't do with my daughter here but still.

Why do we need a new player? Did someone leave or become inactive? I thought we had a goal of almost 1350 (something like 1347) but maybe I was looking at a different team's goal.
Well, I kind of tackled my reading funk, I hope. I looked over my reading plan for July and at my library books on the bed and I found a challenge that fits a lot of my books, plus I discovered a bunch of buddy reads this month that sound pretty good so hopefully July will be my month to READ READ READ!!!
@Everyone, be sure to read the NBRC newsletter for July! There are a lot of buddy reads this month, plus the regular Books of the Month. Lots of good options, I think. If you haven't participated in BoM (book of the month) or buddy reads, they can be really fun and quite motivating. I've only played along with one, so far, but I loved it. It's so fun to compare thoughts and perspectives with others from this group.

I'm also reading

@Mary:HDLS -- I did not know that about Melissa. Bummer! Well, I'm sure we'll get someone else soon enough.
@Imke -- You and those yummy covers for the Play by Play series, LOL!!! I'm definitely reading The Dovekeepers, especially since that was my nomination. I am getting When She Woke from the library today so I may start it tonight.

It seems to be a very polarizing book! I thought the writing was lovely. I could smell the caramel corn just from her description of the carnival at one point. A lot of people don't like her "purple prose", others said the book is too much telling and not enough showing, which is something I don't think I really notice when I read books -- "show, don't tell." I'd like an example of showing vs telling so I know what these people see that I don't, but then again, if I find out maybe it'll make me enjoy favorite books less for all I know! Anyway, glad you enjoyed the book! I will start again for the buddy read.

Man, just thinking about the book makes me want some gooey caramel corn so bad!
I agree it is a great book and everyone I know loves it. Personally I preferred Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, but that is c.1000 pages!

(There are SO MANY cute Good Morning graphics on image search at bing.com!!!SO MANY)

Van Gogh's "Cafe Terrace at Night"

Van Gogh's "Starry Night Over The Rhone" (probably my favorite)

Van Gogh's "The Starry Night"

Edvard Munch's "The Scream"

I also like some Salvidor Dali and Escher's optical illusions.

I saw this painting in Newport RI and fell in love with it. I bought a post card of it:
Mrs-Henry-Lehr-Lady-Decies by Giovanni Boldini

Some of my other favorites:

Woohoo!! Good one Riya, and Welcome Alexia! :) I invited a friend of mine when I joined up, hoping she'd come here with me, but she was put in to start Forest Green. :( She reads even more than me. :)

I still don't know how everything works here, but I should think the ones she read prior to her departure should remain. The group shouldn't lose out on what was already there because she couldn't honor the commitment to the challenge.
Perhaps a compromise would be to keep Melissa's that she did up til the book she did before she stopped posting, then just add Alexia's books from that point on, plus everything else that she does?
Just my thoughts.

I like Riya's idea that we get to just keep Melissa's 26, her goal is set to 26 and then she's just done with her challenge. But it's not our decision and I don't know what they did with other teams who have lost players.
