Simply Put: 49 books in 49 days, 7 books from each category per Team. A Team Member may mix and match their books - as many as they want to read, all 49, in fact - from any of the categories.

I'm too tired to understand the 7% rules. I'll reread them in the morning. I also contact Michael & Andrea about it since they don't participate in the discussion threads for Pewter Blue. They do active read and mark books read so they might want to do the challenge.
It's 49 books per team right? Not per player? Do we all have to read an equal amount or can a team member who reads more than the others pick up the difference?
Your books would only count until we get a replacement player for you. Plus, you would work the 7% Challenge with Teresa, even if you only do three categories for 21 books. Then I would take you off Cadet Blue. (Feeling like a yo-yo yet?)
The challenge is 49 books per Team, 7 books from each Category. A player may elect to read as many or as few as they desire - mix and match.

We are hoping we'll get more people interested in the Tower Teams Reading Challenge with the next newsletter. We usually get a couple. (Members who are NOT "bogus.") If you know of anyone, be sure to invite them.
We also put the Mod Account on Blast Off Bronze, until we can find a replacement for their one "bogus" player.

*snort* Yes, I need Mrs. Dresden because she was my challenge queen and well, because I just plain miss her! This challenge is just feeling kind of over my head right now but I've got a lot of things brewing in there so it's kind of cramped for thought-space, hehe. Summer vacation is fast approaching here and I want to focus on specific books/types of books for my summer reading, plus I've got to make a summer plan for quality time with my son/husband, and I'm working a lot of wacky shifts for well...eternity! Having varied shifts really drains me.

I sent messages to Michael & Andrea who have yet to post in the team threads. But they are marking books read so maybe they'll participate in the challenge.

Yay, Jackie!
Yes, Mary: HDLS. And remember, you, as Captain, can use any book they post, whether they "officially" participate in the 7% Challenge or not.

FYI, I'll be reading 27 books in this period, and I think all of them will fit somewhere. I'm flexible; just let me know.
Cat#1 - 4 books, possibly 5 - or more. I stopped looking after awhile.
Cat#2 - 2 books, possible 3
Cat#3 - got it cover with at least 1 book, all Teams
Cat#4 - got it cover with at least 1 book, all Teams
Cat#5 - I think I'm fine here; I have the hard ones "O" "W" "E" "G" "I"
Cat#6 - one book, at least, not counting the Spell-it-Out, of which I have more. I do have a book with a moon on it; however, I was going to use that for the "buddy read." I also have flowers and green cover covered. If you go with spelling "S.E.V.E.N. U.P" - I have the "U" covered.
Cat#7 - 5 books, for sure, maybe more.

I really hate planning what I'll read that far ahead. But let me see what I was thinking of reading for other challenges and how I can work them into this.

Do I need sing up again for Cadet Blue so that my books count for both until replacements are found?

Maybe you could do what Lisa Kay did and post a breakdown of what you can read from the different categories. I will try to do that same. I haven't heard from Michael or Andrea but we can use any books they read during that time even if they don't actively participate in the challenge.
I know I can read more than 7 during that time. But I need to plot out how many.

GOAL: Your Team’s mission is to read 49 books. That would be seven books from a choice of seven categories. Yes, you may read 14 books from one category that you adore (essentially doing it twice), and ignore another completely. However, you may NOT read two books from one category and five from another to equal seven. Nor, if you are doing a category twice, read 10 from one and four from another.
I just don't understand this at all. When it says we can read 14 books from one category that we adore that means as a team right? So really we have to confer as a team as to which categories we can fill? But then some can only be filled a certain number of times. What if we don't have enough participating players to cover all the categories?

REPEATING: Please note that Category #5 is the only category you may repeat three times, and ignore two other categories. All others, you may repeat twice, and choose to ignore one other category.

I might be willing to do a buddy read but I don't normally like to commit to a specific book that far ahead. I'll make a list of some books that I am thinking about reading for other challenges in June and maybe someone will want to do a buddy read for that.

I'm hoping Michael and Andrea will actively participate. But neither has been posting in the team thread so they might not.

I'm so confused and the questions I want to ask are just too jumbled. I need to leave this one alone for awhile.

If we (Cadet Blue and Pewter Blue) as a team read (for example) 14 books for category #1, 7 for category #2, 7 for category #3, 0 for category #4 (the buddy read category, skipping it), 7 for category #5, 7 for category #6 and 7 for category #7 that makes 49.
The books within a category can be filled by different team members. For example for category #1 I could read 3, you could read 7 and Lisa Kay 4 that covers 14. The other categories could be divided likewise. Maybe make a sign in sheet/thread.
Mary: Harry Dresden's Love Slave wrote: "Right but can one member read multiples of one challenge and none of another? Like if I don't want to do a buddy read, can other team members do it multiple times to fill that category?"
Yes.
Yes.

We can make it simple, and put a thread over in the "sister group" and reserve seven spots, or we can make it spreadsheet. Really, the challenge is easier than it looks.

Remember, we have Lisarenee and the Mod Account doing all those "buddy reads" - so we more than have that covered!

So if everyone could make a post in that thread as to what they can read for each category, I'll do the same and then I can make a master post to keep track of it all. I'll post a link to it in cadet blue. I'll be easier to keep track if I have everyone in one thread.

Done! ☺ Thanks, Mary: HDLS.

I don't know if I have the energy to go through my books to see what categories I can do. But I'll see if I can put a list together of says they can do what categories.

OK here's some books I plan on reading very soon if anyone wants to do a buddy read with me:

or feel free to look at my to-read-shelf and suggest something and I'll see if I can work it into my other challenges.

Please if you want to do the spell it out challenge but can't do anything with the letters left open-post what letters you can do. I know I can do different letters if needed and others might be able to switch as well.

eta: I'm tired and going to bed. I managed to figure out some of what I can read and will check out the other categories tomorrow.
SOME CHANGES and an EXAMPLE:
The letters “N.B.R.C.” have been added to Category #5.
md, from Cerulean (AKA “Hobbit Blue”) provided this example, which I tweaked a bit to include an example of a series name and to include the newly added letters.
You're not allowed to reuse a letter and since “N.B.R.C. T.O.W.E.R. T.E.A.M.S. R.E.A.D.I.N.G. C.H.A.L.L.E.N.G.E.” only has two letter 'T's in it that's all your allowed to have. We couldn’t read 7 books that qualified for the letter 'T,' we'd have to pick another letter.
For example:
B - The Bridgertons #4 - Romancing Mister Bridgerton
T - The Da Vinci Code
O - The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje
W - Where'd You Go, Bernadette
T - Tom's Midnight Garden
E - Everything is Illuminated
M - Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
We've completed challenge #5 because we've read 7 books (and used 7 letters).
If we wanted to do this challenge again instead of doing one of the others (say #4) we can do so; but, we can only choose from the letters we haven't used already.
In this example it would be: “N.R.C E.R. A.S. R.E.A.D.I.N.G. C.H.A.L.L.E.N.G.E.”
We're allowed to do it a 3rd time, but we would only be able to choose from the letters that are remaining.
The letter 'E' appears 5 times so that would mean there could be 5 books that qualify for that letter and the remaining 2 books would have to be another letter.

I didn't think we could read 7 books with the same letter for it to count. But 1 book for each letter of the spell out words. The words made 21 books for 3 times each. If letters can't be reused then they should be in the spell out more than once. Or am I not getting this.
I'm losing my enthusiasm for this challenge because it seems to be complicated.

You only have to read seven books total for this category, if your Team decides to do it. Unless you want to double that, or even triple it, for 21 books.
I think I've got all the duplicate letters:
You may read three "N" books. If you like, I can keep track of this category of the challenge, checking to see if you have used a book elsewhere (and therefore NOT using it). I don't mind. ☺
You may read three "R" books.
You may read two "C" books.
You may read five "E" books.
You may read two "L" books.
You may read three "A" books.

I just figured we'd go by your suggestion somewhere to try to do this category 3 times. So I have been filling in who has volunteered to read each letter until we get to 21 plus maybe the extra slots incase someone can't do their letter for some reason. Or I figured I'd fill letters in with books from players who aren't actively participating in the 7% challenge if I can't fit them in anywhere else.
So is the way I have it layed out here useable?
