C. (Comment, never msg). An unpleasant thread by someone disliking "Le Petit Prince" kept cropping up and I chose to not dignify it. I will start a NEW topic! We have the pleasure of being among others who enjoy discussing this novel: so let's! :-)

Was there a part you liked least? I did find the snake part unpleasant. If Petit Prince walks on asteroids and planets to visit alien atmospheres, he doesn't need a bite to return.

FYI, I suggest it would have been acceptable for the irate poster to share something they disliked, if it hadn't been conveyed harshly. We can't help asking, if someone is THAT uncomfortable with a novel, why dump disdain among fans? Direct time/energy on books one LIKES.

I am Carolyn and from Canada... wish a wonderful Easter to you all!

Rebecca I feel like leaving the world had to be awful and undignified and feel painful and frightening... because that's what it's like in real life.

If he had just sailed away in a balloon the book would have been worth a lot less. I, like the prince, came into the world full of hope and joy and curiosity, and like the prince I will some day have to leave it. When that day comes I will be terrified.

How could the book speak to me if the prince had the privilege of just painlessly floating away in all certainty of returning home?

C. (Comment, never msg). Grácias para otra opinión. :-) I enjoyed the book from page 1. I didn't need an unpleasant part to give it value; the poison occurs near the end and we don't KNOW it's coming. Something about all of the other pages was enlightening anyway.

Melanie I thought it was a cute and sweet book.

C. (Comment, never msg). A beautiful children's book I just read is, "Time For The White Egret", 1978 by Natalie Savage Carlson; a lovely lady who lived to be 97. It is similar, not with different planets but the life importance of a very basic concept; written for a child.

An egret bird, who depends on cows for insects, visits different animals to ask a simple question. The end is beautiful, the drawings are sweet, and you close the book feeling happy you met them all.
