I could post pictures of boy parts, they just wouldn't be mine...and we have hi-jacked another thread, sorry Lucas! It's what we do best.

He is right here reading all your comments making fun of me which is quite naturally permitted in the official rules of the Complaint Department which forbid you folks from complaining about each other but says you may complain (insult) me. I'm glad to see you are following the rules.

Of course I did not mean to type "he place." I meant to say "teh place."

Cmbwey wrote: "God is that you? Is teh Greek or Latin, dumb airman here"

First I want to make it clear I only appear to be a god. I'm really quite human.

And I regret that even though you knew the fake typo of teh was supposed to be a joke you had to rub it in anyway fly boy!

He must be dumb because he's 24 years old and still needs to be in school.

Also only a dumb person would singlehandedly use his time and effort create and run a place like this for people who need to blow off steam, get some cheering up or just have some fun.

He's so dumb he even wrote a rule that says members cannot criticize other members but anybody can criticize him.

I think this is somewhat reassuring.. "In an interview, he [Goodreads founder Otis Chandler] said the Goodreads service will continue to link to other retail sites. However, he added that Goodreads plans to provide better integration for people who use Amazon's Kindle e-reading device. "

However this the following is quesionable considering the title of the fellow quoted. "We think there is a lot we can invent together," said Russ Grandinetti, Amazon's vice president of Kindle content

Does inventing together for the Kindle mean that folks like me who use other devices will feel out of place or less well served?

Who knows?

Rick | 15794 comments So after complaining elsewhere I've been told this is where I can complain about amazon.com buying goodreads. Can I complain about have to move to another discussion board to complain about this? Anyway, this whole amazon/goodreads thing pisses me off. I mean, I LOVE goodreads; but I HATE amazon. Is there no love in the universe? I guess I should be happy that goodreads is not getting purchased by Valdemart, er - I mean Wal-Mart. Now that really would be a disaster.

Wouldn't it? As I have said many times, I just don't see how they won't change it. I hope it won't be too drastic.

A lot of people agree with you if you checked out that link I gave you for the Goodreads Blog I think about a third of the postings are from people who are not happy with the idea of this becoming Kindle City.

message 19: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments I'm upset with Amazon.com because my kindle's screen froze and their solutions was that I purchase a new kindle. Wait, I just complained about Amazon.com on the complaints about goodreads.com - can I say how upset I am that I have complain to the right discussion board? Or is that too much like griping?

I'm pissed that I don't have enough time right now to check it out. I've got to get to class: History 391 History of the Future. Yes, I'm not kidding I'm taking a history class called 'History of the Future.' :P

It's okay, I buy from Amazon, both books and stuff that I can't find in store around here. I just don't want anything to change like it did at IMDB. Even though I know that wasn't a social site, it still changed quite a bit when Amazon bought it.

That is so annoying!! I had a Kindle Keyboard that lasted for 18 months and then kept crashing and freezing and taking ages to reload my books. I was fortunate it was under guarantee and so I got all my money back and then went and bought a Kindle Fire which I love. I still had to shell out on new insurance which is expensive but I really wanted to make sure my Kindle is covered for everything including accidents just in case it happens again.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know where to complain about this so I picked. Sorry if this is the wrong area. I don't know why I can't keep some of my Facebook friends from seeing what books I read. Now, I did change the setting to not allow Facebook Friends to automatically become my friend so it is too late because too many showed up now. Now what can I do? Can I keep my same account and change my name on it? Will the GR people know me or what? I am just disgusted because all these holier than thou people are seeing what I am reading.

When you sign in, do you sign in through Facebook? When I access Goodreads, it asks me if I want to sign in using my Facebook or through my Facebook, something like that, but I don't so my accounts are seperate. Not sure if this is it but it is the only thing I can think of.

I think you may have to set up a new account (either on GR or on FB) using a different email address - that's the only thing I can think of. I have two facebook accounts (yeah, naughty I know) one which is linked to GR, the other isn't.

JustJen "Miss Conduct" (just_jen) LOL. I have two GR accounts. My main one, and my virginal vanilla one. But I've never linked my GR to my FB for that very reason.

In your Profile go to the Apps tab. Right at the top is a box with Facebook stuff in it. You can unclick all of the boxes or you can disconnect your Facebook profile from your Goodreads account. I just did this. I'm now very happy. :oD

message 35: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1962 comments Disturbing to wander into other groups (upon unrequested invitation) and find the ballyhooed category New Adult, whereupon a review of said group's bookshelf finds a gem like this Heart of a Stripper. That's so many kinds of wrong.

Eeek! 0.o That is not a book I'd put into the New Adult category. I would think something like Hold Me Closer, Necromancer and Necromancing the Stone would be more appropriate. (Both of which are really good books.)

As for GRs math? I've never understood it! LOL

message 37: by Mirkat (new)

Mirkat I'd like to know what is the point of the WORD GAMES. Why must just about every book's discussion areas include these inane word games where folks do word association? How is that productive or interesting? Why?!?!?!?!?!?!

message 38: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments It's just for fun.

I figured, but I guess I'm finding them frustrating because they keep popping up when I'm looking for interesting discussions instead of "angry"; "happy"; "sad"; "blue"; "green"; "colors"; "flavors"; "sweet"; "sour"... and on and on and on.

Preston | 20148 comments Mirkat wrote: " Why must just about every book's discussion areas include these inane word games where folks do word association?..."

Because this isn't a book discussion group, it's registered with Goodreads as a Friends group. We do not do book discussions, reviews, book of the month, group reads, buddy reads and other book related conversations than "What I hate about M/M" and Author Self Promotion, serious library there is nothing in the Complaint Department about books which is in accordance with it's intended purpose of complaining, commiserating, having fun and making friends.

The reason the games are their is because our members enjoy them. And there are not just word association games, there are group story writing games too plus this or that which gives members an insight to other members choices.

There are 11,800 postings in the games, far more than in all the other sections put together so it is safe to say they are popular and something our members want.

To avoid running across the words associations just don't look in the Games section when searching for interesting discussions.

message 42: by Mirkat (new)

Mirkat Colton wrote: "Mirkat wrote: "Because this isn't a book discussion group, it's registered with Goodreads as a Friends group."

To clarify, I wasn't actually referring to the word games here in the "Complaint Department" group. I was referring to discussions about individual books. At least three books whose discussions I follow have word-game discussions attached to them. One of them already had a current (as in updated today) discussion going on this, and someone just added a new one.

Then you must shout your complaints loudly everywhere here and we will commiserate with you (that really doesn't makes sense to have them inside a single book discussion) and support you (you tell 'em Mirkat, we with you in this) and hopefully cheer you :-)

Colt says to tell you and I agree:

"Sorry for the mix up. I'm right behind you carrying protest signs now!

So glad we got all that out. Cheers!"

message 44: by Mirkat (new)

Mirkat Thanks, Preston and Colton. :)

message 45: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments The Everwending Story and other of those single-word association games here in Complaint Department (**Note to moderators, I left off the "s"**) that kind of ran away with themselves to become "limited" to 500 words (!) could be turned into a "proper" book, and then we could hold puzzles and word-games related to it. Woo knows, it might even become a GR bestseller…?

message 46: by Mirkat (new)

Mirkat Then before you knew it, the kids would be writing fanfic based on it and getting into all kinds of mischief. :)

message 47: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments And then it'd grow into a whole new industry: C/D Romance…

It would need some serious editing, an editor who can put a foot down about clarifying characters, plotting, and even asking such questions as "where the heck has the story has gotten to?" or "is there even a story here?" ... LOL

Fanfic on a story that is in itself a type of fanfic ... interesting idea.

message 49: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I think the fact that it's "Everwending" proves its impossibility to edit! Maybe James Joyce or William Burroughs could take a post-morten stab at it.

Meantime, I'm fed up of GR constantly telling me it is "Over Capacity". Eff's sake, it's owned by Amazon now and they must have enough tax-dodged dollars to fix the servers.

message 50: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1962 comments AMZ owns the servers for Instagram, Pinterest, Netflix and more. If they can't keep them up all the time, why should GR be any different?
