Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9510 comments I'm missing Lorraine, our Texas biker gal -- or did I just overlook a post? And Cindy, my fellow Massreader.

message 2: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 547 comments Cindy is here. DJ (DPanzy) is missing. There was a message on the yahoo board that she had come home to over 100 e-mails. I figured I would give her time to clear those up. I think we're missing bernermoms, burgendy A, Julie (JRaffety), Kit and Snap that posted regularly. I am sure there are others.

I really hope we don't lose Snap. She was moderating the Yahoogroup, so she may have thought it would be our home.

Julie emailed to say that she was glad we'd relocated in Goodreads and she would have to wait until April 16 (after tax season) before she'd have the time to learn the ropes here.
I think the proliferation of emails around the AOL expulsion was probably overwhelming, but I don't know how we could have done it any other way. I'm sure everyone will surface eventually, but maybe an email with "Waiting for You in Goodreads" or something will get their attenion.

Good idea, Carol. At some point I will match my list of M/T posters with our members here and send non-nagging inquiries to those who haven't appeared.

I saw an email from Snap--not sure if it was group or personal--that said she's all wrapped up in blogging these days. I've missed her since she quit posting regularly and hope she at least drops in on us occasionally.

Jan O'Cat, misses her dragon

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments DonnaJo in on Goodreads and will probably find this group tomorrow or Monday. Burgendya is on Goodreads. We do need to find Lorraine, she had said she liked a Delphi MT board. I hope Snap will come over. I really appreciate the Yahoo group she set up - it has been a life saver for keeping us informed.

I haven't really visited here yet but I have joined - happily.
I've been caught up in reading a BFB for Book Nook Cafe and have been off my mystery kick for about three weeks. I am anxious to get back into the m/t mode and am eagerly looking forward to the monthly reads thread.

Just wanted to check in and let all of you know I found my way here. I'm still figuring out how to get things to work (every once in a while I find I've wandered into the Twilight Zone) but I'll get the hang of it.

Cheryl and Lorraine are on the M/T board on Delphi along with me. Nice folks and lots of good book recommendations (just what I need!)You might want to try it:

Donnajo | 4355 comments Hiya gang, I'm here I just saw the email. Thanks for letting me know. I'm almost caught up with emails just got a few newsletters to get though. Didn't come online yesterday even though I was home all day. I know I'm bad especially with all the change here I should have still come online. I had 55 emails today. I can just see what it will be like in the summer when shore every weekend comes. I might have to stop the digest from the grps. Yet it's easier reading those then signing on and off the different grps. A few of the people from booktopia mentioned that groups are finding empty board stops on AOL to fill up over at Finance. I checked around this morning African has a book board and living it says books and reviews but I can't find how to get there. I just hate to give up. LOL. Well not giving up AOL since I paid for the year already and that is how I get emails and such anyway. Just not in the mood to figure out a new online service. Maybe when I get around to getting a new laptop which might be in the future sometime. Oh by the way I will not list them here but did go to the ubs and did some damage. But for the price I paid it was okay. Two of the books were hcs and only paid 5 and 7 dollars. So where can you go wrong. I'll list them someplace.

message 18: by Dan in AZ (new)

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments I looked at our old birthday list and was unsure how many of the following were here (due to name changes): Sherie (SbSkidwell), Patti (PattiPurple), Debbie (Debid 1000), Elanor (EGW GOMA), Diane (Rilsong), Burgendy (BurgendyA), Kay (Yiyah), Donna (Cedarville922), Susan (TWIGSX4), Kit (KITC627305), Lorraine (Brakedrum), and Lisa (Bernermoms). We know Margie Misanthrope), Snap (Sdragon) and Nancy (Hrdcovers) haven't made it. Julie will be here after April 15th. Latna, Kymberlee, and Brenda hadn't posted for a while on the old board. Sond about right?

Cathy | 180 comments perhaps someone could e-mail them?

Dan, am I supposed to call you Daniel now? Without sounding like you're in trouble and I'm your mom?

I can report some info on some of the people you list:
DIANE (RILLSONG), PattiPurple and Eleanor (EGW GOMA) are mostly lurkers and sporadic at that. As you've already surmised, Latna, Kymberlee, and Brenda are infrequent posters. They're on the birthday list because they enjoy it and because I usually wait at least a couple of years to drop people off it--sentimental.

Kay Yiyah was on my lurker list so she's gotten an email already.

Donna in Cedarville is on Goodreads. She has to go to the library for computer access, so she posts less frequently.

Nancy (HRDCOVERS),Burgendy and Debbie (Debid 1000) are on Goodreads.I think we're just not hearing from them much.

Susan TWIGSX4 is also tax-involved and I assume will arrive later.

I've been in email with Snap. She's got a big show at the museum and will come on after that.

So that leaves Sherie (SBSkidwell), Kit, Lorraine, Lisa, and Margie among frequent posters. Anyone know anything about them? I hope Margie feels up to learning a new system. Has anyone emailed to tell her it's easy?

Dan, I was planning to email in a week or so--give everyone enough time to feel like I'm not nagging. I'm adding the infrequents to my lurker list and will email anyway. If you'd like, you can email separately. I'm sure everyone would enjoy knowing we've notice their absence.

Jan O'Cat, whoever this "Daniel" is, he's a nice guy.

I already e-mailed Margie. She was in the hospital again for a time. She's out now, and she said she will be over here soon. (Her family is coming into town for her B'Day this weekend, so I assume it'll be after that).

The "Daniel" thing is inadvertant. When I signed up for the Author Section, it was suggested that I use my full name because there are links to sites with my books. I didn't realize it was going to change my name over here too. Needless to say, "Dan" will do just fine. Dan/AZ

I can just claim I forgot to add it to my list. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm having fun with the trivia! I don't think I've missed any TKAM trivia questions, but some come up and as soon as I've submitted my answer, I smack myself in the forehead because I know I've missed it.

I've made it! For a while I had thought not to get involved with any boards as they take so much time away from actually reading, but I have gone into withdrawal and when Dan's e-mail arrived, I decided to give in. It will take me a while to get used to the format here, but after Wednesday I'll have my life back! Have to catch up on posts now!

I've been enjoying the trivia here on Goodreads. My TKAM answers aren't too consistent, and I find I'm pretty bad at the Shakespeare questions! However, I haven't missed a Twilight or Sookie question yet!

OMalleycat | 1448 comments Melodie confessed: "My TKAM answers aren't too consistent"

Melodie, I even missed a TKAM question today. Are the questions arranged to become harder the further you get into the list? They seemed harder today!

I missed one about Jem saying that school was going to be harder because they were going to start teaching . . .new math?. . .the Dewey Decimal System?. . .and I forget the other two choices. I chose new Math and it was one of those that the minute I chose it, I remembered the right answer!

Anyway, Melodie, at least you've READ TKAM, unlike some other people I'm glaring at.

I get frustrated at all of the Harry Potter questions. I haven't read beyond Book 2 and I don't even remember much about the two HP I've read.

Jan O'Cat, gonna get wrinkles from the years of glaring I've been doing at Carol

Kay | 3 comments Hey everyone, I found my way here (thanks to jan's email) but that's about all I can say. Questions! Wow, the things I don't know how to do ... how do I save a post to reread and how do I get rid of ones I've already read? How do I quote a portion of a post that I want to answer? And then ... there's the Yahoo Group. I'm completely at a loss because it says something like four new messages and all I can see or read are old ones. Obviously I'm doing something, a lot of somethings wrong. Help !!

Hi Kay, and welcome! I'll give a couple of quick answers here, but suggest you go back to the Discussions link and look for the Goodreads Tip folder, where I bet a lot of your questions will be answered.

1) you can't really save a post in a way that makes it stand out from other posts that have been read.

2) likewise since all posts are saved and only moderators can delete them, the best way to read messages is to learn how to use the "unread" botton. At the top of the page, look over to your right under the "search" field and you will see "unread". If you click on that, you will get a list of all the posts you haven't read yet. They are listed under their appropriate folder and topic, with a total in red. Click on that and it takes you right to those posts.

b) to quote, click on the teeny tiny "reply" under the post. But, most of us have discovered that the quote feature is inadequate (has a character limit). so I copy the exact phrase I want to quote, then hit reply, the paste it in the appropriate space, overwriting what's there.

I hope this gets you started, feel free to ask other questions in the Goodreads Tips folder.

OMalleycat | 1448 comments Hi, Kay! I'm glad you finally caught up with our group. It's good to see you here.

Hey, everyone, you may recognize Kay by her screen name, Yiyah. Kay, you'll see that a lot of us have added our AOL screennames to our Goodreads id's to increase our recognizability and also to sort out all the Donnas and Debbies.

If you want to add Yiyah to your name here, go to the link in the far upper right corner where it says "Hi Kay." Pull that down and click on My Account. Once there, you can type virtually anything into the first name, leave the last name blank, or use the last name blank to combine names. Doesn't have to be your legal name, in other words.

If you originally signed up as your real first and last names and are not making your real last name public, then you can just combine Kay and Yiyah in the first name box.

Somehow, as I'm typing this, it seems about as clear as mud, but it really is easy.

Jan O'Cat, still hoping no one remembers her middle of the night "they've made my name public!" tantrum when she talks about how easy it is to change names here.

Jan O'Cat
