Boundless Buddy Read!

Jenny and I (and maybe Karen too?) are going to start a buddy read of Boundless by Cynthia Hand (the third book in the Unearthly series) on Friday, March 29th!! Anyone else who wants to read and discuss with us are more than welcome!

We keep things pretty relaxed, you can read at your own pace. Please post what Chapter or % you're up to and use spoilers for anything that might ruin it for someone else who's not as far along :) And most of all, have fun!

Ready for Boundless! Just finished Hallowed and looking forward to our buddy read. Some comments/questions before I start reading: (view spoiler)[Wow! Such a sad last part of the book!

Does Jeffrey become a Black Wing? I'm not sure I buy into the amount of anger he has for not fulfilling his purpose. Where did he go every day?

Who is Angela's mystery guy? I assume the summer in Italy will answer that question. Lots of others, but too tired to think any further tonight. (hide spoiler)]

The first question would be a spoiler, so I'm not going to answer that. lol But if you read Radiant, that will answer your second question. I would recommend reading it; it's not very long.

Radiant is pretty short and I think it does make the events in boundless easier to understand.

I'm 15% in! (view spoiler)[ Awww I miss Tucker already! But I like the switch to college life, very cool. She's going to try to be a doctor, which feels strange considering how different their lives are that they'd have normal careers like that :)

And wow, Tucker is an ass! I didn't really see him fitting in the story any longer so part of me hopes he's gone for good now, and that Clara gets together with Christian already. He seems to be her soulmate to me. Always has been and the whole Tucker thing is just her trying to fight it.

And what the heck is up with Jeffrey? His story is bugging me. Maybe Jeffrey is the seventh?

David, I wish you had read Radiant. Here's something I learned when I met her: The events in Radiant were originally the beginning of Boundless, but the editor felt like it slowed down the pacing. Cynthia thought the events in Italy were really important, which is why she decided they would be the novella when they asked her to write one.

I think there were some major items in Radiant, like Phen's true nature that he shows to Clara but not to Angela.

I'm at 33% now. DeAnna, you're right about Tucker. (view spoiler)[ I was annoyed with him when I read it. Ha! I get so wrapped up in characters. I just wanted Clara to move on to Christian. Maybe she needed that scene so she could move on.

And OMG... Angela is pregnant? That's huge! The baby will be a Triplare! But why is Angela now sleeping with Pierce? To give the baby a human father?

And yay! Clara and Christian! (hide spoiler)]. I'm really loving this book.

Lol I usually just skip the novellas unless I'm really into the particular series, but I should start reading them. I just hate it when they're not sold for $.99 or free. They really should be that cheap as a thank you and bonus to readers. Just my opinion :)

Karen (view spoiler)[I love Tucker. But I love Christian too. I think Boundless was the book that completely muddled my feelings, and I couldn't decide who I loved more. I think Angela is sleeping with (or pretending to sleep with) Pierce to hide the baby's true nature. Honestly, I don't remember if that's fully explained or not. I kind of flew through it. David, I get it. I think they should be cheaper, too, but last I check, it was only $1.99, and I think it was worth it. Then again, I'm addicted to any and all info, so I don't even think twice about paying $2.99 for it. Hell, I paid $9.99 for the House of Night and Twilight novellas on my Kindle!

Lol I hear you, it's only a dollar more. It's more a principle thing for me than the money :) Obviously the authors put work into them and the readers get more backstory. I just think they should be free like Patrick Ness's was for the Chaos Walking series. I'm thinking about writing some for the Country Saga, but mine would be free if Amazon lets me, otherwise $.99.

It's the Delirium short stories that were $2.99 each. That's what I was remembering. I ended up buying the paperback of all 3 of those for $5 something. I just couldn't see spending $9 on short stories.

I did something similar with Soul Screamers. I already had the audio version of one of the books, but it was cheaper to buy one of the volumes than to buy the books individually.

Yes, Karen, I also got the Delirum Stories paperback for about $5, and that was worth it! I also did the same thing with Soul Screamers, DeAnna!

Okay, I'm 39% in right now. (view spoiler)[ I am so glad I read Radiant! I did pay 2.99 for it, though, I got it when it first came out, I just couldn't wait to read it! Angela is PREGNANT! GAH! This will throw a kink in things, I think!
I'm also loving the college scene, David, and I think Christian and Clara are fitting in better in California! I absolutely LOVE Tucker, but I agree, he was being an ass! I will be kind of sad if that's the only role he gets in the final book!

Wow, Jeffrey's turnaround is somewhat incredible. That he wants to compensate Tucker for the damage he caused is admirable.

I know how you feel, but I am more curious at this point and will probably speed through the end now! I have to find out what happens next and how it ends! I've read this entire series back to back so will be really sad for it to be over. :(

I finished a couple of hours ago and had to sit back and breathe for awhile. YOWZA!! Epic finish to this series!!

(view spoiler)[Awe, for all that I really thought Tucker was out of it there at the beginning, here he ends up with the girl and seems to now be a little bit of an Angel-blood himself.

I love how the book finishes with a glimpse a decade down the road and lets us know how everyone is doing. It's right that Clara is a small town doctor and that Christian became an architect although I felt bad somewhat for Christian for NOT ending up with the girl. I was rooting for him!!

And Christian and Angela are siblings. CRAZY, right?

So many amazing revelations and everyone is all intertwined with each other.

Phen kind of disappeared from the picture, but it seems that Angela and Web don't need him. Web has Aunt Clara and Uncle Tuck and Uncle Christian! And it appears that Jeffrey is finally ok. I was worried about him throughout the entire book. Hahah, David, (Lucy - evil little "bad word"). (hide spoiler)]

So when all is said and done, this series was deeply satisfying for me! I give it a full 5 stars!!

I couldn't stop! That's for sure! Plus I have the whole family coming tomorrow for Easter so I wanted to be finished so I wouldn't be thinking about it all day and not having the chance to read! :-D It's too loud and noisy when the clan is here so I couldn't even sneak off for a page or two! Ha!

Well, that makes sense, I don't blame you! We are not having any family for Easter this year. Usually we go to my parents house for a nice quiet Easter with them, but my grandma hasn't been doing well, so my mom has been going over to her house (she's about 3 hours drive away) every weekend to care for her.

But we will have a big weekend next weekend! The girls and I are going with my mom to Grandma's house, my sister who lives in Colorado is coming to visit, and my aunt and uncle who live in Texas are also visiting! So our big family weekend will be next week! It will be nice to see everybody!
