Multiple Author Profiles - Joseph Alexander Altsheler

I have come across Author

Joseph Alexander Altsheler who has multiple profiles on Goodreads, loaded by amazon due to the author name on the book being either:
Joseph Alexander Altsheler
Joseph A Altsheler
or user added ones where they have mispelt the names.

Should I leave the Amazon entered ones alone and not combine the author profiles and just sort out the user added versions or should I merge profiles together and combine etc

They should be all merged together if they're the same person. Generally you would merge under the name that appears on his books. If there is more than one way it appears on the book covers, I merge into the most popular profile, since it will likely require less editing later.
