Kaitlin Johnson I am DONE with vampires, wolves, angels/demons and magic. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE paranormal romance and such, but I seriously need a break! I need some HUMANS to read about. I am looking for help everyone. I would like to read something more along the lines of The Hunger Games series or The Host (I loved them both). It can be a series or stand-alone book. Some sci-fi, post apocalyptic, dystopian style of books. I'd love some recommendations please!! I have GOT to get away undead creatures for a bit :)

I Am Alive (I Am Alive, #1) by Cameron Jace very similiar to hunger games
Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1) by Moira Young if you love hunger games, you will love this too

Drew Are zombies included in your no I will read no more of that kind of book list? If not then the forest of hands and teeth is a good series. Also, life as we knew it is another apocalyptic book

Snowblue~ Rachel is AWESOME!!! :p I was thinking Divergent. I haven't read it, but my best friend was telling me about it.

Hannah I'd definitely recommend Divergent and Delirium.

NO!! Zombies are not included lol ( I am currently biting my nails waiting for Gena Showalters Through the Zombie Glass - Alice in Zombieland was AWWWWWESOME!!)

No, I personally wouldn't consider it scary. It does put a whole new, never before gone there spin on Zobmies that makes you think... hmmmmm, but no, not really "scary". It is wonderfully written, the characters are great, and there is a nice humor that runs through out the book also. My favorite book of 2013 so far!

Kaitlin Johnson I heard a LOT of hype about Divergent!! Now you guys have me excited!! I am loving all these recommendations!! I can't wait to get some of these ordered tonight!!

And I heard about the forest of hands and teeth, but I thought it was like that horrible M. Night Sholam movie, The Village, so I passed it up. But if it is about Zombies, I am on it then!

M.E. Lorde This has been compared to the hunger games, but by beta readers who've read the first three.

The second book will be released next month.

Elizabeth Mills I highly recommend this book. It was published long before the Hunger Games, but similar premise.

Library Lady 📚 A lot of people say The Hunger Games was based on Battle Royale. There's also a Stephen King short called "The Running Man" that's very similar.

Who wrote the Alice in Zombieland book you read? I looked it up and there are SIX books called that, all by different authors.

HAHA!! WOW! The one you want is by Gena Showalter.

Robin I second the Maze Runner series.

Drew Alice in zombie land sounds awesome. I will add it to my overly long list of books to read

Jenelle Kellin Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, Ashes by Isla Beck, Divergent by Veronica Roth, Legend by Marie Lu, Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi, Partials by Dan Wells, Archived by Victoria Schwab, Article 5 and sequel Breaking Point. If were you to read any of these go with Darkest Minds and Article 5, they are the best!

Snowballina DIVERGENT By:Veronica Roth

Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a book about humans and survival.

Andria If you have a child who wants to read Hunger Games and he/she is not old enough/mature enough/ready enough to read it (or you are not ready to let him/her read it), here are some books to try:
You'll Like it Here, Everybody Does
Roar by Emma Clayton
Whisper by Emma Clayton
They have similar topics to HG but not much in your face violence. Don't get me wrong, I love HG but would not necessarily think every fourth through sixth grader is ready for HG.

Troy Lyons Legend by Marie Lu is pretty good. It is dystopian and had some similar themes to Hunger Games. Well, besides the whole "hunger games" part. Each chapter switches between the main characters. One chapter is the male point of view, the next switches to the female. Sounds weird, but she pulls it off really great. The sequel just came out in January.

Ashley Let me know if you find anything interesting :) I've been kinda obsessed with dystopian type fics long before "The Hunger Games" so I'm always looking for new stuff.

Paiton Wright Read legend by marie lu <3 or divergen by Ross ;p
maybe shatter me (cant remember the authors name)

Andria Starters by Lissa Price is absolutely fabulous. The second one, Enders should be out soon.

Marie Divergent is definitely one you should read :) You could also try out the 'Chaos Walking' series by Patrick Ness, they are AMAZING :D xx

Andria Olivia wrote: "Andria wrote: "Starters by Lissa Price is absolutely fabulous. The second one, Enders should be out soon."

that interesting."

Bakkian Chronicles...book one is a free ebook, book two was 99 cents last time I looked, book three was 2.99. It is a fantasy trilogy, well written and funny. The author is an independent author and his books are only offered in ebook format.

battle royale by koushun takami--liked it better than thg

Samantha Boyer Try Gregor the Overlander. It is by Suzanne Collins, too. It is a series.Gregor the Overlander Gregor the Overlander (Underland Chronicles, #1) by Suzanne Collins

Louisa Law Definitely recommend reading Maze Runner by James Dashner. The prequel that he released in December 2012 was not as good but still worth a read x

Heather Uglies. It's the first in a series, semi-post apocalyptic, and really good.

Emily http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...

It's not a dystopian novel, but I like it as much (if not more) than The Hunger Games.

Shamma8 I'm reading Divergent , and it has reminded me of the Hunger Games , so go for it
