I'd better get going on reading some of these 2013 books, if I want to have any opinion come voting time!
I'd like to suggest
, not out till 20/08/2013 but the author is being hailed as the new JK Rowling (big shoes to fill) and one comment I read about it was "like The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but for adults". I'll definitely be looking forward it!

I think The Rosie Project will be on the list
. It's already been picked up by publishers in 26 different countries and is a PWeekly favourite. It's wonderful; I just finished it ~ 5 stars.
My review's here if you want a bit more info; no spoilers http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I wouldn't bet against you Cherene :-). I like how the cover kept with the other cover themes in the series.

The Rosie Project is my favorite book of the year so far out of the 97 I have read so far! I absolutely loved it. 5 stars for me also!
is an absolute delight! It hasn't gotten a lot of press but everyone I know that has read it has given it 4 to 5 stars. May be the sleeper hit of 2013 and should definitely be nominated. My review/thoughts are here: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...
Amanda, if you loved The Rosie Project I think you would adore Nowhere But Home :-)
If you want a good historical mystery that was published in translation in 2013 I recommend The Corpse Reader
Should be nominated:
Reading and looking promising:
To try soon:
Soon to come:
Disappointments:
I'll come with a more complete list after I've read more. :)
So many books, so little time.
I'm always amazed at the magic in books and storytelling and how each of us can read the same books and have completely different views on them. I think that's what makes reading and sharing on reading so wonderful; Different tastes, different perspectives.
So far:Mystery: The Da Vinci Code
Ya: Scarlet
Literary Fiction: The Universe Versus Alex Woods
Urban Fantasy: Magic Rises
Historical: River of Stars
Food & Cookbooks: The American Craft Beer Cookbook: 155 Recipes from Your Favorite Brewpubs and Breweries
I'm just reading the latest from Louise Penny, How the Light Gets In - it's wonderful, and includes characters from all the previous books in the series. I would nominate that one.
Cathie, you are correct.I totally mean Inferno. I clicked the wrong button. Grrr. Although, why Da Vinci Code is at the top of the list when I search for Inferno, I just don't know. LOL.
Since I agree with so many books that are already posted, I'll post for the underdog! I hope to be able to vote for;
All fantastic! ☆☆☆☆☆
Yes you are. It's a 2013 release and it seems to be somewhat popular (I've seen this book many times in the past few days). Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks for the link ! I'm looking forward to voting - I did last year but now that I'm part of this book club it seems all the more important !
Here are the rules for the nominees:Books published for the first time in the United States in English between November 26, 2012, and November 16, 2013, are eligible for the 2013 Goodreads Choice Awards.
We analyze statistics from the 250 million books added, rated, and reviewed on the site in 2013 to nominate 15 books in each category. Opening round official nominees must have an average rating of 3.50 or higher.
A book may be nominated in no more than one genre category, but can also be nominated in the Goodreads Author category. Only one book in a series may be nominated per category. An author may receive multiple nominations within a single category if he or she has more than one eligible series or more than one eligible stand-alone book.

Hi! While I'm slightly disappointed that once again the cutoff date is after the nominations have begun (wouldn't it make more sense to restrict it to books published until today?), I guess it was expected after last year...
That is curious and doesn't make sense to me either. Have you ever got in touch with Goodreads to ask why Andrea (not that they would necessarily answer you but no harm in asking I suppose)?
