How long do you read for? Just felt like asking! Also do you finish a whole book in a day? This is just to share!

i can finish a book that i like in a day...but depends of my schedule.also if it's a boring book i read it in a week or even more
I try to read whenever I'm not wasting time on Goodreads. If I have enough hours to read then I finish a book a day. It's usually on weekends and when I have days off but, as Andreea said, if the book is interesting enough then I'll even read at work and finish it :)
I personally don't like to speed-read, so I won't finish a 400 page book in 2 hours like some people.
Usually for two to three hours every night before bed. If I have a book I really like I may read throughout the day depending on my schedule.
I read for 1-2 hours at night. But if I am sick, have some time on the weekend etc.. I can sit still for 2-3 hours without getting up. But then I have to run around a bit. I have finished books in a day but at a different phase in my life. (pre-kid, babies that napped etc...) That can be so much fun!
Right now, since I'm a college student, my schedule is super crazy. So I mostly read for like an hour or two a day to finish a book. During the summer though I will finish a book in day, unless like others have said, the book isn't that great.
It highly depends on the book, mostly, and partly on my schedule. If I'm super busy, I read max around like 30 pages a day, because i read at night and by the time i reach around 30 pages my eyes are closing. If I have time I can read for an indefinite amount of time. I've spent whole days reading, but that only happens when a book is so interesting that even when my eyes start hurting, I can't put it down.
If a book is boring though, it goes really, really slowly for me, or if I don't like the writing style.
And yup, I have finished a book in a day.
I'm a grad student, plus I have two jobs and a family to take care of, so it doesn't leave much time for leisure reading. I do, however, have a job where I sometimes work over night and can get in about 3-6 hours of reading depending on the night and the book. If a book is slow-going it will put me to sleep in the middle of the night, so that doesn't work out! I try not to pick up a book unless I have at least 1/2 hour to spend on it. I am a super slow reader (I love to absorb the book and get lost in the detailed worlds...) so I never finish a book in one day.
Check out our novella. The Canarsie Flash. We're fairly new here and are excited about growing our presence within this community at goodreads. Best wishes, Hunter and Osa. Add us as a friend, add our book, tell us about your book or blog.
I get so wrapped up in the story, hours can go by without me noticing. If it's a book I really love, I usually finish it in a day!

It's a residential facility for teenage girls that don't live with a family for any variety of reasons. We need staff 24/7, so my schedule varies. I usually work overnight once or twice a week.
read every night before bed, work and family do not allow me anymore time, however just lately have become slightly more selfish, on my days off have been cavorting with my book for 2/3 hours......bliss. never finished a book in a day!!
i've read a book in a day before. i read a lot, up to hours a day, and sometimes just minutes. depends on the book ;)
I get in some reading everyday, usually before bed, but on the weekends, a couple of hours would be average...and today I read a great book in under 2 hours, Buddha in the Attic, it was written very well and different than I am used to.
I read a lot. I can finish in less than a day. My average is around one book every 2 days. Depends on how good the book is and how long it is :)
I can finish a 400 page book in a day, but only if it's really good. Otherwise, it takes me about 2 days, max.. Sometimes more, depends on the length.
it depends on how good the book is. I finished a series of three books in a weekend recently because I literally couldn't put it down. but regularly it takes 2-3 days to finish reading a large novel.
I read a lot and everywhere. My book goes on the bus, while I wait for appointments, when I'm a passenger in the car. I read during commercials while I watch tv...gives me a good reason to mute those nasty commercials. It's not a hobby, it's a way of life.
If its a good book then I can finish a 400-500 page book in a day otherwise I spend about 5 or more hours reading per day.
It depends when I'm busy or not. If I don't have anything to do, I can finish two to three books within a day.
Melissa wrote: "I read a lot. I can finish in less than a day. My average is around one book every 2 days. Books that don't flow can take up to a month, but I will be reading something else; yes I read two to three books at once.
It depends on the book and of my schedule. Usually I need 3 days to finish one book. But if books is really good and I have a lot of time I can finish it in a day.
I'm a housewife, I know it's super lame, but it gives me TONS of time to read. I have a pile of 7 books next to me that will be read within a week. I have from 830am until my elementary kids get home from school to read as much as I want and then another 2 hours to read after they go to bed.
1-2 hours does me well. After about 90 minutes my concentration tends to tail off. If I'm reading a good book, I prefer to spread it out rather than cram it into a 24hr session!
I read for about 1-2 hrs on average in a sitting. Usually I'll pick up the book about 2x a day. Sometimes its less depending on my schedule. I don't usually finish a book in a day...it can take a few days to longer than a week depending on the length and the number of books I'm reading at once.
It depends, on full college days I may just read 1 hour in the night. If I am home early I might sit and read a hour in the day and a hour in the night. If I have a free weekend I normally get through more. On free weekends I won't sit for anything over half a hour though, I will read on and off getting up in between to do something else. On average I would say I read 150 pages a day and the time it takes me to do this varies. About 80% of books in my favorites, however, are books that I've read in one day, but I'm going to stop doing that.
I dont read as much as i used to since some evenings i get home late for work and just hang out with my husband. I try to do my readings on lunch breaks but then sometimes i end up talking with coworkers. I think i need to set up a reading schedule because i love to read and need to make more time for it!

I read for probably 1-2 hours a day and more if it's the weekend and I'm off. I have finished a book in a day before but don't like to make a habit of it because if it's a really good book then why try to rush through it.
Average: about 100 pages in half hour, if the book interests me.I read every day. is like an addiction.
at least 5 hours a day if you count my job reading and school. I usually read at work on my lunch hour and after dinner at night and then I read during school. At work I have youth story time and teen reading time as I am a social coordinator. The books I read at work I usually do not count towards my challenge though. I read about 300 to 400 pages a day
For me it really varies with my schedule. Maybe from only 30 min up to 4 hours per day. This weekend, I went from my averge of 2 books ahead of schedule on the 2013 reading challenge to 8 books ahead.
I can read all day if I didn't get yelled at. On weekdays, I'd say I read maybe 2 hours. On weekends it's like 3 or more. I am a pretty fast reader, so I can read books in a day if they're interesting. The most memorable ones would be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling and the Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I read them both cover to cover.
I like to read on public transport, about an hour a day, and just at home, for at least two hours a day. I'm sort of a slow reader so I can finish a book in a day only if that's literally the ONLY thing I do (well besides eat and stuff like that), even if it's a really good book.
I read more than I should. I will honestly ditch my friends if the book I'm reading is good. It's a sad life I live but the books are great.

I try and read as much as I can- it's literally one of my favorite things in the world to do so I'm always looking for time to read. I even read when I'm in like grocery queues and stuff.

I even read when I'm in like grocery queues and stuff. This is one reason why I love my kindle and iphone (I always have one or both on me) - I can use that queuing time productively.

I can't do this anymore (I did pre-marriage), but being married and having children has stopped me - its not worth the ear bashing that I get from them. However my daughter doesn't moan about my reading anymore as her head is struck in a book too!
Linda wrote: "read every night before bed, work and family do not allow me anymore time, however just lately have become slightly more selfish, on my days off have been cavorting with my book for 2/3 hours........."I have to read every night before bed or I can't fall asleep. Even if it's 2 a.m. Sometimes if the book is dense and/or the print small, I nod off right away. I started reading "Admission" last night and got through 2 pages. The print is way small and story slow to get going. Maybe it'll pick up. It was good enough to make a movie of, so I'm hopeful.

On the right note...whenever I can get the time, get hours sometimes, sometimes not enough time to do as much as I'd like.
I often exhaust my eyes, because a book will be so good, I'm unable to take a break. If the book is riveting enough, I'll read it in one day. Usually I finish books within a five day time span.
When i read a book, if its good, I don't stop until I finish it. So 2-3 hours. And when I'm free, I'd start a new one every day :D
I read for as long as I can. usually it happens in hour long bursts throughout the day unless I am really sucked into a good book.
Now that I have a Kindle I can track my reading hours by how often I need to recharge it! the Kindle Paperwhite is supposed to go for about 8 weeks (or so they claim) but with mine it's more like 3 to 4.
I read that most people lose their concentration after about 45 minutes, so I've adjusted my reading patterns accordingly.
I am a total bookworm and when I read I read for hours sometimes the whole day if I have the time like right now because I'm on spring break I can do that. But during school I usually read for an hour or two. I try to read as much as possible :D
