message 51: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra (cassandra_ray) I read for as long as my children allow me. I usually get at least an hour in the mornings while my 3 year old eats breakfast and lounges around for a bit and my 3 month old plays in her swing. Then they both want my attention until nap time, I usually get about 3 hours at nap time and then an hour or so at night. unless of course I'm completely captured by the book then I might unwillingly stay awake all night to finish :)

message 52: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (sinfullykarmatic) As long as I possibly can!!

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

if I'm not doing something, I'm booked .

message 54: by ariel (new)

ariel Calderon (coco13) If i like the book a can finish it in like a day or 2. But if i don`t have anything to do in a day it just depends if i want to read it fast or enjoy it. during the week i finish a book in a week during school in free periods.

message 55: by Camille (new)

Camille | 12 comments It depend on how long the book is but over all on how beautiful it is!! I did read a book in a day, it was 13 reasons why :) But I like enjoying book and not read it so fast!

message 56: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 37 comments I try to read about 2-3 hours every evening and if the book is 300 pages I finish it by the end of the week.

message 57: by Eric (new)

Eric My work schedule factors in heavily, but I try to read for one hour each day at a minimum and longer on off days. I don't care to rush through a book, so I don't read one in a day unless it's a novella or something of that size. Malaika is the last book I read in one sitting; excellent read from Van Heerling.

message 58: by Violetta (new)

Violetta Rand | 3 comments At least an hour a day (more if possible).

message 59: by Sarah (new)

Sarah McMillan | 111 comments I can finish a book in a day if it really takes my interest but usually it's 1 or 2 a week.

message 60: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Usually 2 to 3 hours at night. But then also on the bus ride to work, and in between patients, and after hours on the days when I'm at the clinic overnight, and whenever I go to the restroom. I have a problem. I know

message 61: by Tcoco (new)

Tcoco | 12 comments i usually read, a about 2 hours. can be longer if im really sucked into the book which i can finish in a day.lol

message 62: by Becki-boop (new)

Becki-boop | 3 comments Like everyone else it seems like it depends on the book. It took me two months to read Jane Eyre but I haven't read a book in a day yet. On average I read about an 30mins a day before bed and then what ever I can fit in during the day. It also depends on my schedule as well if i've got coursework then I very rarely read but on hoilday then its at least 5 books :)

message 63: by Francisca (new)

Francisca (kika5673) Depends on the book and if I'm on holiday, too! I can take three days do finish a book, or I can take months.

message 64: by Joanne Farley (new)

Joanne Farley I like to read for at least an hour but the problem is staying awake long enough to read.

message 65: by Angel (new)

Angel (angel4sue) | 48 comments that really depends on the book and if i am off of work the next day. the longest i read was 24 hours (2 books) that i just could not put down. usually around 4-6 hours. i try not to put the tv on so i do not get distracted. and i do not answer my phone. usually i read a book in a day or two. the 24 hour spree i was reading the series "The Demon King" I was at the 3rd and 4th book. Just could not stop myself and i had the time. i did take an hour break in between. of course i am obessive about everything i do so...

yes i know that feeling. do i want to go out? "no sorry i'm reading" is my standard answer!! most of the time i would rather be reading. and i won't answer the phone either if i am into the book. i simply love to read! :)

message 68: by Kimi (new)

Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) Anywhere between 20 mins and a whole day!! Depends on what the book is, how I am enjoying it and what else I need to do. If I have a free day and a good book, I will spend the entire day reading.

message 69: by Arlene (new)

Arlene Mcintosh (arleneromeogmailcom) | 1 comments I read on my morning commute so that would about 20 minutes in the morning and my lunch break give or take about 45 minutes and then on my way home is another 20 minutes and I read when my kids go to bed so I can fly through books because that's all I want to do is read especially if it a really good book. This book I am reading right now it's all I can think about and cannot wait to get on the train because I just love reading.

message 70: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Cobley | 8 comments pretty much whenever I find the time to, so long as school work isn't important or my parents aren't asking me to do chores or stuff: I live on books

message 71: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 10 comments I read as much as I can.Sometimes I can read for Hours at a time or 30 mins in between house work and other duties. If it's a book and I just want to finish it I'll make sure I have time to finish it in one sitting.I love to read before bed as it settles me and I can think about the book while I fall a sleep.

message 72: by Emily (new)

Emily (creatorlimbs) I usually squeeze my reading in where I can. I'm lucky if I can read for a solid hour.

message 73: by Kay (new)

Kay D (kaylovesbooks) | 7 comments Once I really get into a book, it's hard for me to stop reading. Most of the time I will finish the entire book in one sitting, usually a couple hours.

message 74: by Jeanette (last edited Mar 27, 2013 07:45AM) (new)

Jeanette (rhajie) | 1 comments Before, I usually read during my free time (which basically means during off-peak hours at work, weekends or before going to bed), but since I was bed bound after undergoing surgery and had to stay home for almost 3 months, I had all the time I wanted just for reading and I barely notice the time flying. Although I still have a long way to go to reach 50% of the ebooks I want to read and I'll be returning to and catch up on work after Lent (sigh!), I sure hope I can still have time to read, especially the follow-up books to the series I've read.

message 75: by Wendy (last edited Mar 27, 2013 11:51AM) (new)

Wendy (temagami) | 54 comments I read about 150 -200 pages a day but I read quickly; a habit from my University days as an English major. And I must say young adult books seem to have more adventure, mystery and readability than most adult books. Lately I have fnished Kathy Reichs new release Code: A virals novel. As many of you might know she wrote the 'Bones' series which is on television weekly. And I finished a dysopian novel by Dan Wells entitled ' Fragments' as well as Dan Krokos's riveting novel False Memory. I have to continue to catch up on the novels I still have on my KOBO pad and Kindle reader, but then I prefer a good book to television so it hopefully won't be hard.

Oh man that is totally me as well! Haha my husband always says that I give more time to my books then to him. ;D When I was in jr high and high school, I use to leave one book just at school, and one at home so I was always reading and never with out a book. Now I always have one in my purse! Because you never know when a chance to read more may pop up! ;)

Gwen Rowan (jadedempathy) | 14 comments Dave wrote: "if I'm not doing something, I'm booked ."

That is exactly how I am. I can't even watch movies anymore because they leave me saying "Wow that could have been time spent reading" I have two kids and when they are in school I often read for hours. I also like to read in the morning like it's my morning cup of coffee. I will wake up an hour or so early just so I can fit some reading in before I wake the kids up for school.

message 78: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Stoeckel (andreastoeckel) As a disabled person, books can be my savior and my addiction too. I'm dyslexic, so when I was young I'd read EVERYTHING but not comprehend much of it. Now that I'm retired I have begun divesting my self of my "pre-internet" theological library, and filling in th holes with used Amazon books, as well as ebooks.

My spouse gauges how I am doing by my running list of read books in the back of my calendar. Even at my worst a few years back, I read 100+

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

I read whenever I have free time which is every day all day minus a couple hours cleaning the house, taking care of my cats and fiance, baking, eating and sleeping. Otherwise if I'm not doing any of that, and when I do do those things it only takes a couple hours a week, then I'm reading. I once told my fiance if I go blind kill me cause if I'm blind I can't read and I despise books on cd mainly cause I can read faster than they do and I like to be able to see the words and digest them fast and then slowly to better absorb them.

message 80: by Kätlin (last edited Mar 30, 2013 04:46AM) (new)

Kätlin I actually don't like finishing a book in one sitting, even if I had the time to do it. I like to read for an hour or a few hours, then put the book down and do something else for a while. I feel like if I take my time with the book, the story begins to live a life of its own in my mind. I think about the characters and the story, or I find relevant questions if it's a non-fiction book. I sort of like it that the book stays with me for a few days or a week and I won't be done with it within the day. It's not about the speed of reading for me, it's about enjoying the reading. I don't think I read particularly fast, but it's at least partly also explained by the fact that these days I do most of my reading in a foreign language.

I usually have a book (or two) with me wherever I go though, because I read during commutes and in places where I'm likely to wait in line for something, or if I am having a slow day at work. Sometimes these things are unexpected, so I have a book with me just in case there suddenly appears extra time for reading.

message 81: by George (last edited Mar 30, 2013 04:49AM) (new)

George (sandanglokta) I usually start reading a book and finish it in one sitting no matter how large it is..but then it may take a couple of days to pick up another book.I like doing a little research after finishing :)

message 82: by Krista (new)

Krista | 8 comments I read when I eat - sounds strange but I have to or else it feels wrong. Sometimes I even have to go buy a mag or grab a newspaper. When I was little I'd try & hide my book under the table, propped on my knees, under the tablecloth. My Mom didn't like that too much. I read while eating breakfast, on breaks at work, then at dinner, rarely in bed - unless I've been captured by a real good book. And whenever I get bored - I open a book!

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

It usually depends on the day. For example when I'm busy, I read for about 2 hours less and if I'm not, I read for 2 hours and more. Same when I eat, I also read books especially if it's a good one.

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

I read till I finish the book or even the series . The only thing that can stop me is my mom, sleep and bathing

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

Meghna wrote: "I read till I finish the book or even the series . The only thing that can stop me is my mom, sleep and bathing"

Especially when your mom keeps yelling "Come down here and eat! Stop reading that book already!"

But that's just me...

message 86: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) I like to read at least an hour a/day. There are times when I read more like when I am commuting to and from work. But I have so much going on that I would be lucky I would be able to read an entire book in on day.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

That is a loaded question for me since I work full-time and do volunteer work. Also, I read multiple books at a time. Generally speaking, I read at least two hours a day. I'm a bit of a slow reading since I always seem to get distracted by something, but I typically get anywhere from 100-200 pages a day in.

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

As a college student most of my homework is made of reading. I also enjoy reading for pleasure. So I spend pretty much my entire day reading.

message 89: by Avery (new)

Avery (ThePagemaster) (averythepagemaster) | 57 comments I usually read for 2-3 hours. I read during commercials because I like to multitask, plus I just feel more comfortable reading with the TV on.

message 90: by Emily (new)

Emily (creatorlimbs) Eileen wrote: "Now that I have a Kindle I can track my reading hours by how often I need to recharge it! the Kindle Paperwhite is supposed to go for about 8 weeks (or so they claim) but with mine it's more like ..."

It's 8 weeks with the brightness turned all the way down and minimal page turning. Whenever they do power tests, they do it on the lowest possible settings.

message 91: by Michael (new)

Michael (lovechild) | 280 comments I read so long that people feel that it is okay to ask "How much do you read a week?" But they ask the question more as if it is problem, much like a Dr asking a alcoholic how much do you drink? >.<

message 92: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 4 comments Hours. I read as an alternative to the Internet (eg tumblr). I've read upwards of 4-5 books in a day, each about 300-600 pages. Plus I read in class, during orchestra, instead of doing work, etc. oops c:

message 93: by Ester (new)

Ester (ester395) | 2 comments During school I read maybe for an hour or two. If I really like a book I can finish it in a day, usually on weekends.

message 94: by Christian (new)

Christian Maria Morgan depends. could read 3 (thick) books in day or it could take two weeks to finish one. depends.

message 95: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 56 comments Books that require deep thinking like The Rise and Fall fo the Roman Empire, The Iliad, the Odyssey (sp?), could be a week or two. Have to read, contemplate, go on reading...

But just regular fiction of 250-300 pages, about a day. I am so very lucky to be retired now. Just a few months and I am finding I can read so much more. That was one of my dreams for retirement!!!

It can be addictive though. If I get into a book I can read all day and into the night. And then do it all over again. For me the best way to go is to get up and moving a bit, have other hobbies, and even belong to a few reading forums!!! Good to talk about books, get ideas for other books and discuss issues related to reading. Sadly I don't have any friends who enjoy reading as much as I do and they don't enjoy talking about books at all. So this is great!!!

message 97: by Mahnoor (new)

Mahnoor | 19 comments Depends on the book...the Ilied took me week...only because I had college, and work. other wise would have finished it faster.

I can easily finish a book thats about 150-200 pages in about 8 to 10 hours...but it does never takes me more than 4 full days to finish any thing thats not 40000 pages. :D

message 98: by Sheena (new)

Sheena Binkley | 61 comments Usually a couple of hours if it's a good book.

message 99: by Christian (new)
