I usually go by chapters. I'll read for as long as it takes to get through at least four chapters. If some of the chapters are short then I read about six chapters. So that's usually about an hour and a half, depending on if I'm distracted, then it's two hours probably.

If the book keeps my interest and stays constantly interesting to me then I usually get through it in one day. Usually quick reads too like short stories or graphic novels.

Melissa (mkc2192) Oh, the user is deleted? Who am I replying too? Haha, I'm confused.

Connie Wisniewski | 110 comments I do finish a book before I start another one. If it isn't really good, I skim.

message 105: by Asmaa (new)

Asmaa Arqawi | 30 comments it depends about my mood and the book but mostly I can finish a book in 1-7days

message 106: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Estime (kathyestimewrites) | 3 comments When I am actively trying to read a book for pleasure, I shoot for an hour. It can be longer if it is a really good book and I have time.

message 107: by Gen (new)

Gen Hazwood (ohsnapitsgenny) | 1 comments In the perfect world I would read all day everyday. But sadly in the real world I only read when time permits. When I'm not at practice, school,or work. If it's a really good book I'll read when I'm supposed to be doing other things. My optimal times though are usally in the morning and and night before bed for a couple of hours.

message 108: by Joie (new)

Joie (serenityjoie) | 6 comments During summer I can read a book within 24 hours or 2 days at the most (THIS IS WHY I SO LIVE SUMMERTIME). But during school days, it's a shame to admit that I only get to read 2 books a week, or worse 1, especially now that I'm on college.

Besides, I can not sleep without reading a chapter or two.

Joie (serenityjoie) | 6 comments @Genesis, let's go to a perfect world!

(Sorry, can't reply. I'm on mobile)

message 110: by Sara (new)

Sara Shaw | 25 comments 4 to 6 hours a day. School days only 3

message 111: by Mariann (new)

Mariann (emt3225) I read about 2-3 chapters everyday.

message 112: by [deleted user] (new)

5 charpters a day

message 113: by Nicole (new)

Nicole L (lolamosk3) | 1 comments Depends on how addicting the book is, but usually 6 hours a day if I am involved in a very good book!

message 114: by Regina (new)

Regina Foo (reginafoomy) Most of the time I'll only read before I sleep, that'll be around 20 pages every time.

message 115: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 6 comments Not long enough, so many books so little time! I can read for hours up often it is just squeezed in on the train to work or while waiting for the dinner to finish cooking. Oh to be retired, or a millionaire, and can spend more time to read while sitting in the garden with a glass of wine

message 116: by ♫ Maryam ♫ (new)

♫ Maryam ♫ (goodreadsmaryam) | 26 comments I read everyday, I don't remember not having a book on my "currently reading" I mean the mental kind.
Anyways, it depends on the book, usually I finish it between 3 (min) to 9 (max) days. I almost never leave a book hanging, so if I really hate it - then a month.

message 117: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (caroline_tzipi) | 13 comments I read absolutely everyday, but the speed to finish a book depends: on the storyline (some of them are addictive, some others are absolutely boring), the way it is written, the number of pages (no kidding!), and also the language (I read faster in French than in English).

message 118: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (readaroundtown) | 10 comments I have to admit as much as I love reading I work 10 hrs. a day and only get to.read while teaveling between jobs. So lately I listen to audible while I work and I.have ded. finished a book in a day or two if its a goodie.:-)

message 119: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Tell (vtell) | 4 comments For me, it's feast or famine. I had just picked up a few books I had started earlier this year – this, after reading my editor's book "What's Wrong With My Family" (very good and sometimes funny, btw), and now her newest book, "I Just Came Here to Dance" (Susan Mary Malone) – but I had to put down four others because my own writing calls to me – it seems I'm either consumed with writing or obsessive about reading.

message 120: by Grainne (new)

Grainne | 17 comments I can read for days with intervals for food and everything

message 121: by Purpleluv2013 (new)

Purpleluv2013 | 15 comments I read constantly! I mean whenever I have free time you can see me cuddled up with a warm blanket an a book. I do online schooling so in between all of my classes I am reading, even if it is only for five minutes. The time that it takes me to finish a book depends on the length and how much I like it. But on average I can read a 500 page book within 24 hours.

message 122: by Beth (new)

Beth (bflbatya) I read every night before bed for 15 - 60 minutes. Then I do sometimes read during the day when I can steal 15 - 20 minutes of time. On the weekends I read during the day also.

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

Connie Wisniewski | 110 comments Sue wrote: "I read about 2 hours before bed, and whenever I get a chance to during the day. Summertime is easier, reading poolside in the afternoon."

I read at night for about 2 hours, and when I get up. I'm retired and should read more, but I get busy and get on the computer. That, cleaning and what ever takes up my time.

message 125: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cwsmith) My favorite part of retirement is the hour or two I can steal each morning to read. Then the tasks of the day begin. Evening reading depends on how tired I am from the above .... but usually another hour of two. Then if I happen to have a fitful night and am not able to sleep, I just get up a read. No work to face the next day!!! I'm loving my retirement!!

message 126: by Connie (new)

Connie Wisniewski | 110 comments I am retired also. I read when I go to bed and also when I up. If it is a really good book, I make time during the day. I love being retired also. My husband like to cook, so I just have to do the rest of the work which I space out through the week. I don't set an alarm, so I get up when I want to.

message 127: by Lisa Mccarty (new)

Lisa Mccarty | 12 comments If it is a good book I will read until I fall asleep....

message 128: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne (qbookbandit) | 6 comments It depends on the book. Sometimes I can finish the whole book in an afternoon but others take me weeks because I read several books simultaneously all the time.

I mostly try to get some reading done in the morning because it's quiet; then I'll read just before I go to bed.

message 129: by Jillian (new)

Jillian depends on the novel, sometimes all of it the same day

message 130: by ella (new)

ella (katarella) It really depends on how much time I have, on the book and my mood. Sometimes I just want to sit around and watch TV or Youtube videos instead of reading. But usually I need max. a week for a good book. Some books, like Wings by Aprilynne Pike, only take me a day, because they aren't too long and I the book is pretty good.

message 131: by Amrutha (new)

Amrutha | 10 comments It depends on the book and the amount of time I have each day. But on an average, I try to read at least 50 pages a day. That way, I know by when I can finish reading the book. Exceptions to this rule....an extremely boring book.

message 132: by Debashis (new)

Debashis Chakraborty (debapnbgmailcom) | 10 comments I am an office goer.I always busy in my office from 10 to 6 . In my case reading depends upon availability of time and merits of the book. In Saturday and Sunday I have sufficient time. Usually spend time in mid night reading. I am interested in novel and reading. Debashis

message 133: by Sarviiinak (new)

Sarviiinak | 3 comments It usually takes 4 to 5 days .

message 134: by Shelley (new)

Shelley (shelleys_shelf) I usually read for about an hour before I go to bed and whenever I have free time in between

message 135: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Morrison (chelsealouise07) As a college student, I'm usually very busy with my studies, so I read whenever I have time. I try and read a couple chapters a day. I read very quickly though, so when I don't have homework, I can usually finish a book in a day, depending on the size.

message 136: by Kayla (new)

Kayla I read at least a half hour right when I wake up, and bits and pieces in between, sometime for only ten minutes. I am reading A Thousand Splendid Suns right now and it is excruciating to put it down!

message 137: by Ernest (new)

Ernest Marlin | 2 comments I don't get a great deal of time for reading what with work and trying to find time to scribble my own stories, so I tend to have any number of books lying around waiting to be read at any one time. These are often books about historical subjects that interest me such as the early civilisations of Greece, Egypt or Rome, or I may be researching topics that have a bearing on what I myself am trying to write about, such as for example the Korean War or, more recently, the war in Vietnam. When I do get a chance to read fiction for pure relaxation then I enjoy Bernard Cornwell's novels, particularly the warrior chronicles. He is in my opinion a worthy successor to Rosemary Sutcliffe who wrote amongst others Warrior Scarlet and The Shield Ring and also Henry Treece who wrote a trilogy, namely Vikings Dawn, The Road to Mikligard and Viking Sunset.

message 138: by Renee (new)

Renee Deangelo | 2 comments When I'm totally into a book that I can't put down, I'll read all day on the weekends. Otherwise, I make sure to read an hour or two before bed time and whenever I have free time throughout the day.

message 139: by Megan (new)

Megan | 4 comments It all depends on the book, really. I always read before bed. And if the book is very good I will make time to read during the day as well. I particularly enjoy reading in the bath, it is the ultimate way to relax, for me at least. But if I get sucked into a book (which happens often) I will find myself reading until the book is finished, or my brain can no longer understand what I am reading. Which ever comes first.

message 140: by Aiman (new)

Aiman For as long as I can =)

message 141: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra Like a lot of others, it really depends on the book and my availability. I've had books that have had me so interested that I've been able to read them in one day...but my busy schedule only allows for that once a year or so. On average, I spend about 45-60 minutes a day reading but I have been known to schedule vacations when everyone is out of the house just so I can have a day at home to do house maintenance and read.

message 142: by Sandy from Alaska (new)

Sandy from Alaska Colón (sandycfromak) | 56 comments I read a minimum if one hour a day. However, a really good book means that only minimal tasks will get done until the book is finished.

message 143: by [deleted user] (new)

i read for a half hour to an hour. I tend to if im really into a book read a few sessions a day if it's a free day. i get through a medium 300 page book in a few weeks and longer one's in longer then a month. 3 months for a very long book .

message 144: by Erica (new)

Erica I usually listen to an audiobook on the way to and from work (about 45 minutes each way) and I try to read from a hardcopy or ebook at least 15 minutes a day before I actually start work (I purposely get there 15 minutes or more early in order to read) and then the rest of the time is sporadic in between my busy schedule. I do not get to read every day, that is usually something I do during the week. I wish I had more time to read.

≈aleх: pнoenιх oғ тнe ғlaмe≈ (loveisendless) Bleck. Audio books >< I'm a hardcover guy. I usually read endlessly. Once I start, I can't stop... until food is ready to eat :p

message 146: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Knowles (lakekel) | 7 comments Depends on the book...I try about an hour a day. I'm a fast reader....but a pageturner I will read until done! :)

message 147: by Marian (new)

Marian | 5 comments I like hardcover girl myself and if the book is a page turner?I keep reading:)

≈aleх: pнoenιх oғ тнe ғlaмe≈ (loveisendless) Honestly... I choke paperbacks to death >:3 I am a weird yet totally awesome boy

message 149: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Knowles (lakekel) | 7 comments I usually always read hardcover, but not objecting to paperback or book on cd or e-book....all are good :)

message 150: by Mollydee (new)

Mollydee | 23 comments I can read for hours. 2-3 or more. I have found I cannot do that with the Kindle. I suffer from migraines so the glare is no good. Thank goodness I have enough of my own soft or hardcover books to fill in the gaps. I have to time myself on Tuesday when hubby goes back to work and see how long I read. Like I may read a chapter while I am making lunch. I may read a book in between commercials when I am watching tv, or straight out read. But I read a lot and everyday.
