I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Oh! I have learned that the word infinitesimal and any derivative of this word officially gets on my nerves. This word is WAY overused in PNR--seriously. It is used a ridiculous amount of times in the Twilight series and I am pretty sure I have read it at least once in ever series I have ever read of PNR. Let's face it--it is not a very commonly used word otherwise...

new_user | 1389 comments I haven't run into infinitesimal plenty of times, but there are PLENTY (that deserves caps) of expressions that are abused past beggging, let me tell you. LOL.

We could make a whole other thread about those alone.

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) | 160 comments I vote 'wet' as the most overused word.

In the Twilight series it's the words Glower & Glowering I don't know why they bother me so much, they just do and Bella glowers through all 4 books!

What I've learned from PNR is that when you meet your supernatural soul mate, he will be the most over romantic man in the world. Just like in Say Anything with John Cusack and the radio, your PNR honey will dedicate and sing a song for making every girl at the bar jealous. He'll take you out the fanciest restaurant, buy you anything your heart desires, and he always shows up when you need him.
Oh, the other thing I learned, is that he ALWAYS gives you at least one (usually multiple) orgasms, before he even considers satisfying himself.

Ya'll just wait...now that I have pointed out the word, you're gonna see it everywhere. Seriously, I will bet it is used at least 20-30 times in the twilight series. I was reading Bitten last night and there it was, right there on the page staring me down!

how about BROODING? That's another one that's over-used.

The PN soul mate of your dreams is ALWAYS brooding and usually is fighting his attraction to YOU because you are a weak, easily led/confused human, but even tho he KNOWS he can get you killed by paying attention to you, he CAN NOT HELP HIMSELF and hangs around you making sheeps eyes (my Gran's word :o) ) at you.

Brooding... grrrr... way overdosed word.
And what about the women? they seem to be always POUTING.
Only in PNR you can be both beautiful, sexy and pouting at the same time.

Weird.

I was reading Hot Ice by Cherry Adair and sure enough... there it was. I immediately thought of you. LOL

I refuse to read Twilight and/or Bitten, so I might be safe from the word.

Jessica Bair-Epps | 725 comments y'all are hilarious! I've learned in the PNR world that you will probably go your whole life never being noticed until you meet that vamp or were. Then suddenly every male you encounter will want you and every female will be jealous.

Nope Christy--it also rears its ugly head in the following series: Mona Lisa Awakening, Lucinda, Darkly, Slave to Sensation, Marked...the list seriously goes on and on.

Uniquely Moi just saw it in Hot Ice! I actually dont think I had even heard the word before I read twilight--its just not that common of a word or at least not in my daily vocab :-)

Mona Lisa Awakening: Couldn't get past the title page of that one.
Lucinda, Darkly: The only Chronicles I care about is Narnia (and only in rap form)
Slave to Sensation: The only thing I remember about that book is that my home town was mentioned.
Marked: I feel about vampire YA novels as Joan Crawford does about wire hangers.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 461 comments Great thread, ladies. This explains why I'm addicted to paranormal romance. :)

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Well, on a different note, I learned that being called a pet name by your paranormal lover is super hot even if you have only known him for a few days! Even names I couldn't fathom my husband calling me in public--or private for that matter, like:

In One Foot in the Grave, Bones calls Cat "Kitten"--totally hot BTW when Bones says it--totally NOT if my hubby says it--I actually might choke with laughter if he called me "Kitten".

In Mona Lisa Awakening, Halcyon calls Mona Lisa "HellCat"--once again Hot!

In Slave to Sensation, Lucas calls Sascha "Kitten" too.

In Visions of Heat, Vaughn calls Faith "Red"--don't know about hot, but it is the color of hot!

Tons more, I just can't remember them right now. Pretty sure all the BDB had names for all their ladies too.

new_user | 1389 comments I like pet names, but I actually didn't like that Vaughn called Faith "Red." It just reminded me too much of a derogatory use, reducing a woman to her hair, etc. Kinda like when a guy says, "blondie."

Yeah--sorry, but whenever anyone in MY family was called RED it was because they'd just lost their tempers (again) and blasted into space about something that who-ever called them Red thought was silly. Not that the person calling them Red was always RIGHT, mind you. . .

And yeah, I have a LOT of relatives with red hair--Mum's family is Irish, Scottish and Welsh and a tiny, tiny, tiny dash of French. Dad's is German, English, Choctaw and Welsh. Talk about LOTS of red-heads

I wasn't such a fan of Red either.

(Ann admits to a desire to pound on someone who calls HER Red) Not that I have a TEMPER or anything, mind you. :oP

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) | 160 comments I like pet names if they are insults.

I didn't think I could stand them, but I loved the pet names in God Eaters, you could tell by the insults how much they were in love.
