Melissa Jensen (kdragon) | 1 comments Indie support communities are the best. It's also really great to have a place to be able to find indie books to read.

My book, The Toymaker, is a YA/middle grade that's a little bit fantasy, a little bit sci-fi and a lot of adventure...

No one ever returns from the mines. It's a rumor ten year old Ashima Nayar had never bothered herself with... until the night the Beasts attacked.

Now, with her village devastated, the crops destroyed and desperation about to set in, Ashima suddenly finds herself separated from her parents and the only life she's ever known.

But Ashima has no intention of waiting around with only the hope that her parents might return. She's going to find them.

In her quest, she befriends Ren, a man with a strange but amazing ability. They are drawn into a world full of raging Beasts, tyrannical goblins, and perilous secrets. With the help of Ren and his unusual gift, they set out in search of her family, and the answer to a mystery that has haunted Ren for years. An answer that just might change the course of the world.

N.W. Moors | 1 comments Hi all,
My book, The Black Swans, is a fantasy/paranormal romance...
Taisie MacDonnell loves Celtic music and when a traditional Irish group moves to her small town of Antrim, Maine, she's thrilled. She has no idea that becoming involved with Conn McLaren, the handsome pipe player will enmesh her in magic, a centuries-old enchantment and pursuit by the Fae.
This is a modern retelling of the Irish story "The Children of Lir".

T.H. Alexander (thalexander) | 1 comments T.H. Alexander is quickly on his way to becoming the new voice for a new generation, writing a series of science fiction and fantasy novels targeted specifically for the contemporary young adult audiences.

His debut epic fantasy, the Lord of Salamander, is receiving rave reviews, with the Hollywood Book Reviews and the Self-Publishing Review giving the young adult action-packed thriller 4 out of 5 stars!

The Lord of Salamander tells the coming-of-age story of Elijah Pendleton, a boy with no past. For as long as he can remember, he’s lived under the control of his abusive aunts in a small rural town where everything is deeply ordinary, until one day when his short life changes forever.
It’ll be a strange incident involving a cat and mysterious oak tree, that will put Elijah on the path of discovering his true identity, and begin the greatest journey into the heart of the unknown; through a world of legend and mythology that has been shrouded in mystery and suspicion over the many centuries. Through friendships, trials and tribulations, Elijah will have to find a strength he never knew could even exist to finally uncover the truth about himself and his missing parents.

Wyatt Widmer | 2 comments I recently self-published a novel for the first time on Amazon. It's a book called Coyote, which I have worked on and polished for the last two and a half years, with multiple drafts, finishing it at age 17, just a couple months ago.
Coyote is a compilation of two memoirs, a couple journal entries, and many letters by the protagonist. In the 1910's, early in the contemporary modern era, a time noted for seeing the western world's descent into a mass societal confusion over the sudden complexity of humanity, and a great loss in faith and abuse of power from those who had it. The unnamed protagonist starts the story with an eerie summation of his discoveries throughout life and where they have left him. It is later explained how the main character is raised in a very unorthodox manner, due to being seemingly impossible to tie down, spending most of his time in the woods throughout Chicagoland. When his parents are taken by cholera, however, the government tries to put him in the custody of his controlling uncle, to which he objects, quickly realizing that he no longer has any obligations to anyone. With this conviction in mind, he ventures off to be on his own and seeks to remedy the immeasurable perplexity of this new world. The first memoir follows his adventures throughout the United States as he finds himself through the ubiquitous power of the Earth beneath him, and allows his insatiable curiosity to condemn him to violent situations he was not designed for. In the United States, it is explained how and why he was given the pseudonym "Coyote" and the significance of these beasts in his life. The resulting events, detailed in the second memoir, eventually exile him to France, where his explorations and discoveries often lean closer to the mind and more existential endeavors, as well as the realm of trust and other interpersonal aspects of life which he had become so discarnate from. From thenceforth continues and concludes the story in a series of letters exchanged several years after leaving France. I hope that people will be open to the ideas and thoughts of Coyote, and come away from the story having experienced a new and, if I may say, very unique adventure which (unintentionally) attempts to seamlessly blend romanticism and spirituality with realism, brutality, and the human psyche.
It was a largely experimental piece, and primarily written for my own aid, yet I released it anyway in the hopes that some folks will find it an interesting story.

Olivia Longueville (olivialongueville) | 1 comments Hello!

I've recently self-published my new novel "Between Two Kings." It is the first historical fiction novel in the new enthralling series about Anne Boleyn The Queen of Two Kingdoms. It asks and answers the compelling question, what could have happened if Anne Boleyn, the Marquess of Pembroke, had escaped her death in May 1536?

Anne Boleyn is the greatest love of my life and her obsession. I have already read all the existing books about Anne Boleyn many times over and over again, and many of them have long become my favorites. Like many fans, I've always been aggrieved that Anne was unjustly executed at King Henry’s order and never had a chance to have a long life she rightfully deserved. So my most cherished dream has always been to re-imagine Anne Boleyn’s life path, assuming that Anne didn’t die in May 1536.

I hope you will like my novel. The novel is perfect for numerous fans of the Showtime television series The Tudors and many readers of historical fiction.

Alexandria Hampton | 1 comments Hello there! My debut YA novella, Devoted to October, is now available to buy on Amazon and Barnes & Noble as a kindle book or paperback!
Here's a synopsis of the book:
“No matter what happens, Jett, I’ll be by your side to help you through it. I promise.”
Adeline never thought she’d be capable of attracting the Native American, walking canvas of art known as Jett Brooks, but knowing she did leaves her breathless and mystified.
He captivates her with his witty persona and dreamy words that leave her feeling as though she’s on cloud nine, but no one is perfect and he is no exception. His drug dealing and reckless ways terrify Adeline, but not wanting to consider the possibility of how his irresponsible behavior could launch them both into a tragic fate, she decides to ignore her worrying mind and dive into what she hopes will be a beautiful destiny. But when tragedy strikes and Jett vanishes, she is forced to go on an emotional roller coaster and the most life altering adventure of her existence to uncover the truth.
Catapulted into a metamorphosis she hadn’t even known was possible, Adeline will discover if true love really can withstand all the things that try to stand in its way.

You can also learn more about me and the book from my website - http://www.babyboat.com.au/boardingth...

The book is a self-help book for women struggling with the baby decision. Along with exploring common fears and concerns surrounding motherhood, I provide honest and real-life insight into my journey from being 99.9% sure I didn’t want children, to happy, proud mother.

By presenting important information, posing thought-provoking questions and speaking openly about the fears, doubts, and joys I experienced, my hope is to provide women with a real look at this modern day dilemma.

My inspiration for this book was my personal dilemma and journey from ambivalence to happy mum. I think this is a tough decision, and hope I can help make other women's lives just a little easier by sharing my story.

Indulge in a tale of intrigue, history and romance that recalls one girl's personal history from today back into ancient times. Pinky, a young college student with a tortured past, is learning to live her life in a "normal" way because she prefers to not stand out in a crowd. While earning extra credit for her History class at the local Renaissance Faire, Pinky finds her present existence and her past memories melding together as her mind interweaves tales of Pinky's long-ago life. Travel back, into Pinky's previous lives, when the Warrior and the Priestess, Aimi and Tyr, were joined by a love so fierce and by a silent way of communication so intense, that their history and love spanned over centuries. As Pinky shares her stories and dreams, her memories Awaken.

I have since been turning most of my best scripts back into novels, in which I had originally began more than 20 years ago. This is one of my blogs that I penned years ago, sort of a fictional/biography spy story. It's fast-paced, a bit cheesy at times, cliched and typical of something you'd read in the 1960's.

John Lyes | 4 comments I write this originally as a screenplay, set for production in Canada in 2005. Then after subsequent drafts (over 40), it's ready and free on Kindle and KU til the 5th. It's my homage to Inspector Morse and the best of the British crime dramas. Have a read.

A vicious serial killer is on the hunt for his next victim and CID Inspector Prav Shira is fatigued by the lack of progress. With reluctance he brings in estranged psychologist Dr. Arliss Grey to aide in the investigation. But Arliss is a woman plagued by her own demons, and wrought by a dark secret from her past what she soon uncovers brings her closer to a sinister conspiracy that weaves itself into the halls of power.

And to make matters worse former MI5 agent Inspector Shira’s involvement in a twenty year old cover-up only adds to that stress and it’s not because he’s flawed, Shira has his vices; vices that could very well end his career.

BREAKING ARLISS is a tightly-woven thriller that keeps you guessing right up until the very end. And with unforgiving consequences, no one is safe.

(Check out the Giveaway. Only a few days left!)

Synopsis: It’s been two hundred years since the Trauma, a catastrophic event of a now forgotten origin, wreaked havoc upon the Earth, reducing the human population from billions to thousands, and leaving the survivors as prey to humanoid hunters. Vrana of the Raven is one of these hunters. Her tribe has made killing humans, now known as the Corrupted, its purpose—to “keep the balance”—to ensure that the Corrupted do not rise to power and lay the Earth to ruin once more.

But, one night, in the great northern city-state of Geharra, over ten thousand Corrupted disappear.
And if so many can disappear so quickly, what’s to stop it from happening again elsewhere, or to Vrana’s own?

Geharra, however, is not the only place to suffer from strange happenings. In Caldera, Vrana sleeps fitfully, dreaming of a Void and the Witch trapped within. When she is called upon to travel with Serra, Lucan, and Deimos to the abandoned city, she accepts, but only to get away from Caldera, because the Witch that haunts her nightmares has begun to haunt her days.

Jacqueline Schuler sees the world in metaphors. Like, literally. Walking piles of excrement, censored nymphomaniacs, streets of violent rivers, and theatre props covering the burnt walls of a home make up the background to a life she tries to keep as normal as she can. But with the truth, comes the whole truth, and Jacqui finds herself having to cope with the mortality of those she cares about, time and time again.

The idea for this book came to me one evening, and I wrote the concept overnight. However, the manuscript took nearly 6 years for me to write, and during that time I found out I was expecting twins. :)

I would love for you to check out my book blog where you can watch the trailer: http://zilonia.com/

The book is available for pre-order here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z...

As a new author, it would really be wonderful for you experienced writers to offer me your expert opinions. Thank you so much for your time.

E.M. McIntyre | 1 comments Hi everyone. I'm new to Goodreads and recently published my first YA Fantasy book.

The Phantom of Faerie Mountain
The Red King Trilogy #1

Here is my blurb:

A telepathic dog. An ancient prophecy. Two devious faeries. 14 yr old Abby Fletcher must unravel their connection when she is thrown into a world of unknowns after receiving a mysterious message from a frightening beast: The Red King must set me free. Determined to discover the meaning of this puzzling phrase, Abby sets off to explore a nearby Scottish mountainside in search of clues. What Abby doesn't realize, however, is that it's not a matter of where she will find her answers but when. Whisked back to the early 14th century, Abby must find the courage to solve the mystery of the Red King and save not only herself but a group of powerless captives wrapped up in a faerie plot.

Ray Chilensky | 3 comments The FIRE Team Alpha Series

In the year 2091 an attempt to impose a global government festered into a dystopic, authoritarian nightmare. After fifteen years of global conflict, the World Central Authority has been shattered; leaving the world in virtual dark age. The United States and its allied nation-states were victorious, but only at an unimaginable cost. The fragments of the defeated global government are mired in chaos and the profiteers of the Corporate Consortium grow ever richer while perpetuating conflict on a planetary scale.

The aspiration for a global government has not died in the minds of the would-be tyrants. Ancient feuds over race and religion have reemerged with greater intensity than ever before. Newly liberated nation-states contend against the remnants of the global government, newly formed nations, and one another for political dominance and ever more scarce natural resources. The Corporate Consortium uses its superior technology and nearly limitless wealth to mold events to it will.

The Fast Intervention Raiding and Espionage teams are elite, multinational units of genetically enhanced special operators. They are the tier one striking forces of the United States and its allies in the Free Nationalist Forces. Drawn from the world’s finest special operations forces; the F.I.R.E. teams combine the best, most demanding military training in the world with more than human physical and mental capabilities granted by advanced genetic engineering. The F.I.R.E. teams are the most lethal warriors in human history.

Leading F.I.R.E. Team Alpha, Douglas Carter finds his team at the crux of the geopolitical disintegration threatening the human race. Masters of controlled violence, the members of Team Alpha operate in a world where death is incidental, truth exists only in the shadows, and power is the only true currency.

Jennifer Foxcroft | 1 comments Hi, Thank you so much for inviting me to join this group. I have to admit I don't exactly know what I'm doing in groups. This is my second group, and I only joined my first group two weeks ago. I can't wait to check out all your books. I love finding other indie authors. It helps keep me inspired because as you all know it can be lonely sitting in front of your computer trying to find the words.
I released my first book in Feb 2015. It's book one of the Camazotz Trilogy, and is a YA paranormal romance. I just sent book two off to my pre-readers and I'm waiting anxiously for them to comment. Nice to meet you all. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

S.D. Caplinger | 5 comments Mac looks down at Sarah, her blood-streaked hair smears her features as he tries to move it away from her face. He has done this; his creation, his damnation. Trying to stay one step ahead of the Director, Mac fights against one thought: Is it his destruction that the Director seeks, or the world? The Director's top sniffer dog Colleen is hot on the trail of Mac’s great race through the countryside, slowly catching up to him, slowly reaching out to grab him by the collar and drag him back to the company to complete his masterpiece. Will she catch him before he has a chance to play his final hand?

TO BE CONTINUED
Young Adult
Prex J.D. V Ybasco
Paperback/Kindle Edition

Not all stories end happily nor tragically. Most of them just need to be continued.

Azalea Anthony is a writer, or what she claims to be.Vim Harvey is her friend, or at least what she wants to believe.Jasmine Morrish is Azalea's archenemy, or so what Jash believes Azalea makes people believe...er--There are other characters, too: like Warren, the basketball player, Beatrix, the model, Tom, the perfect excuse of a brother, Eclaire, the eccentric bff, etc.

They all hangout in one place where they can enjoy a steaming cup of debates, an aroma of gossips, a side dish of basketball, a topping of drama, and a menu of articles : The Big Coffee Shop.

C.L. Wells (goodreadscomclwells) | 3 comments Hi, all! I published my debut novel a couple of months ago. It is a YA Faith Fiction that tackles the hard topic of self-harm. Memoirs of a Girl Who Loves God. For a short time, it is on sale for .99. Very soon (probably tomorrow), it will go back to it's regular price of 3.99. Please check if you're interested. Amazon sometimes takes awhile to complete these tasks. :) Cheers to reading!
