Jason | 2 comments Hi everyone, my name is Jason. I signed up for Goodreads after reading a recent article about the site in the New York Times.

My favourite authors include Alan Hollinghurst and Peter Cameron. A recent novel that really stood out for me was "Moffie" by Andre Carl Van Der Merwe. I can't wait to peruse the threads and join in on the discussion! Hopefully, there will be group reads coming up that I can participate in.

Nancy | 2838 comments Welcome, Jason!

I saw that article and wondered if it attracted a lot of new members.

Another member mentioned they were reading and enjoying Moffie. I'll have to check it out. The only fiction I've read from South Africa is Doris Lessing and J.M. Coetzee.

We are currently discussing A Life Apart and The Charioteer.

The discussion topics for these and other books can be found here:

Feel free to comment on any of our past reads at any time.

Averin | 23 comments Hi, I'm Averin, thank you for letting me join your group. I'm a 're-careering' college student interested in social history and intelligent, non-angsty fiction. I recently read Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You and would love suggestions for other Cameron works.

Alan Pottinger | 5 comments A belated welcome - I'm new myself, joining the group over here in the UK.

Welcome, Averin. Cameron is one of my favorites, but he can be uneven. I would definitely recommend The Weekend. It has that same summertime indecisive feel, but is about adults.

Jason | 2 comments Yes, I recommend The Weekend as well. I recently picked up The Half You Don't Know: Selected Stories from Powell's which I can't wait to start on!
