Cortney | 3 comments This looks like my kind of group! I am a scrapbooker-writer-photographer. Both my parents are artists and I just have a constant creative itch that keeps me scratching around for more ideas...and more time to do them! I spend most of my time behind the camera or with a pen in hand, but I love, love, love doing fun projects. I am also a mother, so there is plenty of daily inspiration and fun things to photograph. My other hobbies include sewing and cooking so it would be fun to see some fun reads for those creative outlets as well!

Kim (formerlystars) | 4 comments Hey there! Fellow pea here... and so glad my friend Steph introduced me to goodreads. Glad to be part of this group too. I'm a scrapbooker-mom-teacher who loves to think and create.

message 4: by Anya (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:33AM) (new)

Anya | 1 comments I am an adolescent psychologist-in-training. I love to read, take photograhs, travel, and cook. I have a boyfriend who is a writer and 4 cats who are constant source of entertainment for me and him :) I was introduced to goodreads by a friend. It started out pretty innocently - I am going on a 2 week trip to the Pacific Northwest and so I was asking around about best books to take with me. Unfortunately, the only time I have to read for pleasure now is when I travel (other time is taken up by working, taking classes, and doing my clinical internship). And along came goodreads :) Now I have enough of book idea to last me for a while!

message 5: by Leslie (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:33AM) (new)

Leslie (lesliejones23) Hi everyone! I am an exercise specialist for UMDNJ (which means the university of medicine and dentistry of nj). I am a quilter, scrapbooker, photographer, teacher, competitive indoor and outdoor volleyball player, and an avid reader. I don't know where I find the time to do it all, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

message 6: by Caz (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:33AM) (new)

Caz Eddy | 5 comments Hi, I'm mostly a writer - just finished my BA in Writing, and planning to go on and do my Masters in Sept. Writing is my life, but I love drawing and painting too, although I don't get much time for it these days. I've had a couple of short stories published but won't be happy until I've a best seller under my belt. Nice to be part of this group. :o)

message 7: by Cathy (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:33AM) (new)

Cathy Graham | 2 comments Hi there all you creative souls!

I am a fellow creative soul who loves to express myself creatively and have finally realized that it's not something I do to please others or be accepted, to show off or to make money (Definitely not!!).

Being creative is part of who I am and when I don't get to be creative I feel robotic and drudge-like, just enduring my life until I can break away from the mundane and be creative again.

Since I got laid off my government job, my husband has been supportive in my decision to stay home and be more creative and spend more time with my two wonderful boys. I am spreading my wings and doing more creative projects than I ever had time for when I worked full time.

I enjoy expressing myself creatively through writing, playing flute and singing in choir, painting, desktop publishing, scrapbooking and card making. My latest endeavour is having a table at the Farmer's market where I sell crafts, cakes and decorated cookies. I'm not getting rich but it's fun.

I look forward to getting to know other creative souls. Wait, I already know one. Hi Caz! Great to see you here!

message 8: by Queenbusick (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:33AM) (new)

Queenbusick Hi all!

I am a recovering creative who felt forced to join the workforce and get a real life...so now in my mid-30's I am busy re-creating to who I really am...

Right now, my creative energy is being focused on digital scrapbook design, paper scrapping (journal making is my fave paper right now), stamp carving and letterboxing.

Future arts: bead making, dichroid glass and pencil crayons (read kal barteski for this)

I found this group thought I would see what's going on!

Cortney | 3 comments Leslie--I love volleyball too...what position do you play?

message 10: by Leslie (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:34AM) (new)

Leslie (lesliejones23) I am an outside hitter when I play indoors currently and when i was in high school. I was actually made to play middle in college I went to a college in philly for 2 years (PCPS) and then finished at Rutgers where I played on the club team that finished 5th at Nationals. My true love is outside, but I love hitting a good 1 ball or 31. When I play doubles I play left side. When I play in my co-ed leagues, I actually set. Guess you could say that I am an all around player...but am the happiest at OH. =)

Sue | 1 comments Hi guys, I am a 42 year old Aussie and I just love how I am able to connect with so many like minded people from all over the world through sites like this. So cool! I am constantly busy ... seem to never have enough hours in the day. I have three great kids and a very busy husband. I work 3 days a week as a bursar at the local primary school. The pile of books waiting to be read on my bedside table is huge, but not as large as the stack of photos I want to scrapbook. I am a stationery freak and have always loved the smell of a brand new book. I have just started a daily art journal which I am loving. I am into photography and would love to learn a lot more about how to use my digital SLR on anything other than Auto mode!

message 12: by Tina (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:34AM) (new)

Tina | 1 comments Hi everyone,
I'm a 43 year old mother of 3, my oldest we lost when he was 5 years old. Which is a big part of my love for scrapbooking, preserving memories and taking lots of pictures. I have always loved reading and it has truly saved me by taking me away to new places, when I need to get away and can't. My husband has his own business and I work with him, and my spare time I fill with scrap booking, photography and reading

message 13: by Liliana (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:34AM) (new)

Liliana hi I'm Liliana, I'm currently living in NYC and this looks like a great group for me. I love anything in the creative field. I'm an avid scrapbooker and I love photography. Capturing life's memories is important to me and fun as well. I'm also a design major gocusing on graphic/web design. Besides that I'm your average bookworm :) i love how books take me to a new world, and how at times you can learn from them.

Tulara (iberostar) | 20 comments HI, Tina. My son died when he was 21. I lost my creative side for several years in the grief. When I "got it back" I found that it helps me in my life now without him. Hope to see some of your photography. If you want to look at mine, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/dagobatr... Tiffany Good morning all! I'm thrilled to have found this group.

I'm currently redesigning/organizing/decorating my office/creative space(bought myself an Expidit bookshelf from IKEA!).

My goal this summer is to read as much as I can. With 2 kids, dog, cat and DH, finding time is an issue.

I am a ceramic artist(studio in the garage), quilter, scrapbooker, jewelry maker. I love to take creative workshops and have 100+ projects in process at any given time! LOL

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

A | 1 comments Hello all! My name is Anyonita, pronounced like: "an' ya need a"...drink, or what have you. Very original and I love it :) Remember it, because in a few years, you'll be typing it into good reads and giving the books that pop up as a result rave reviews!!! :) In all seriousness, I am an aspiring writer. Mostly of poetry and short stories, but I hope to crank out a novel some day! I'm a down to earth, fun-loving kinda gal. I'm from the South so I say "yes/no ma'am" and "yes/no sir"--it's how I was raised. I also say "y'all". Basically, I crash into every Southern verbal stereotype there is!
I enjoy meeting people, traveling, exploring other cultures. I collect shoes. My closet is color coordinated. And I am always following some to-read list. :)
Excited about this group and meeting all of you!

Sharyn | 1 comments Hi everyone!

I'm so glad to have found this group and can't wait to share ideas and recommendations! I'm a scrapbooker and also love photography... and my other passion is reading. I was an English literature major in college (emphasis in women's and postcolonial lit) and am always on the hunt for a great book. I work as an HR / Recruiting Manager, which I truly enjoy, but I still look forward to my evenings and weekends when I can pursue my creative outlets and connect with creative souls like you guys! Can't wait to meet you all :)

Take care!
Sharyn

message 21: by Kelly (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:40AM) (new)

Kelly (fitzgeraldkelly) | 1 comments I'm a stay-at-home mom with a 3 year old son who keeps me busy. I keep hoping to have time to setup an etsy shop with my scrapbook projects, but that hasn't happened yet. I barely have time to do layouts for myself...

This year I started working with a local hospital in their Artist in Healthcare program. I go to the hospital twice a month and teach scrapbooking to the families of children in Rehabilitation or Intensive Care. It has been a really amazing experience for me. I'm hoping I will be doing more of this once my son is in school.

William F. DeVault | 2 comments Hmmm...me?

Poet, author, madman.

I am currently between romantic debacles, but post resurrection from the ashes.

Recently returned to the DC surburbs of Virginia after sojourns in West Virginia, Mississippi and California.

Working on my 10th book and 4th CD, simultaneously. Maintain a busy blogging and podcast schedule.

Prepping for a major podcast this weekend...getting into the skull game of it right now, the dark space where the artist emerges and the man is left behind for a while.

That's enough and too much.

message 26: by K (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:41AM) (new)

K | 1 comments Hi! I'm Shannon from Mobile, Alabama, en route to moving to Berkeley, California in 5 days! I've been teaching at a private school (speech/English lit/film/theatre) for seven years and am now off to be a theatre education intern at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre for a year. I am really excited; I'll be moving to a place I've never been in my life and basically know no one, and networking online is something that really helps me feel connected to new faces. I love poetry and reading, especially the active process of reading where ideas can be exchanged and debated--it's hard for me to read a book in a vacuum. :) Love the creative process in teaching, writing, reading, and the arts in general.

message 30: by Christy (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:44AM) (new)

Christy (christylewis) My name is Christy, and I love to scrapbook, take pictures (although I'm still learning with both of these), I like to read, and am really looking forward to being a part of this group. I want to read Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life, but can't seem to find the time for it. I am a nurse by trade, but in my heart, I want to spend every waking moment doing something I enjoy - like scrapping, taking pictures, or reading! I like to write, and want to improve on that. I've always been uncomfortable sharing my thoughts and opinions, but I'm working on that....

Tiffany (tiffanykotz) Hi everyone! It's nice to meet you and creatively synergize!!

message 33: by Michael (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:51AM) (new)

Michael (michael_harmon) | 2 comments "Whenever we meet someone, we say a greeting. However, in the special instances where we find one of a similar interest, there a generous welcome is in order."

A generous welcome to everyone, then. :) My name is Michael, and I am a passionate teacher of the English language, and writer - a creative word arranger by nature. I am also, and primarily, a father of a young eight-month old son.

I'm spending my time in the Pasadena area of Los Angeles, California. I grew up in the San Francisco area and spent almost a third of my life in Santa Barbara County as well.

I love writing that can be analogous, stream-of-consciousness, chaotic, modern, or otherwise unorthodox. However, I am usually taken in by pure realism as a backdrop for the stories told. Naturally, I also tend to write in this way.

I'm looking forward to us benefitting from each other!

message 34: by Tracey (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:51AM) (new)

Tracey Chorley | 1 comments Hi All
I've just found goodreads through a blog, such a great idea! I'm a scrapbooker, photographer, gardener, painter, reader (big time), baker - all in my free time as I work full time for a bank in London. My creative mojo has taken a back seat the past few weeks so I've been reading LOTS, always got a few on the go. Paperbacks for the train commute, large hard backs for bed time reading, creative books/ journals always. So excited to have found this place!!

I have a wonderful boyfriend of 5 years who I'll be moving in with in October. I have 3 insane cats (Olive, Amber and Nova), and a dog (who is the love of my life) named Kinsey. I'm making a lot of changes in my life right now, I'm very interested in bettering myself and living green :o)

Suvi (orpheusbooks) Yet another member.

I'm Suvi and I'm an 18-year-old upper secondary school student from Finland. I love to paint and draw but unfortunately I don't have the time to do them often. I've also started occasional photographing which was fun in Paris. I was in there in May and it was so beautiful there.

Also, in addition to all that creative stuff I love to watch movies, sit in a café and of course spend time with my family.

Let's see... me...

I'm a wife, furmommy, third grade teacher, scrapbooker, reader, singer, friend, sister, aunt... the list goes on. I am passionate about instilling a love of reading and writing in my third graders, as I love to do both myself.

I look forward to "meeting" and "getting to know" all of you.

Kim (formerlystars) | 4 comments Theresa, I am a teacher too... fifth grade language arts. I love teaching reading and writing. I'm thinking about starting art journals with my students this year. I do love that I get to be totally creative in my job. Kids are amazing.

Dyna, I took a break from reading too, and still am not reading as much as I used to, but that is becuase my creative endeavours have taken over my free time! I'm trying to catch up on the Harry Potter books... I had stopped at 5, couldn't really get into it, but now that the last book is out I'm trying to finish 5 so I can move on to 6, and I have #7 sitting on my night stand calling my name, but I can't read it yet till I finish the others!!!

What a great group! I am married, dog mom to three, business owner - Big Picture Scrapbooking, and avid crafter across many mediums. Because the last year and half has been so crazy, I am trying to make time and get back to reading.

Look forward to being apart of this creative group!

Laura | 1 comments Hi, Fellow Creative Spirits!

I am a voracious reader, and I also write - poetry, prose, songs (I play guitar and sing). I also scrapbook my crazy life with my fellow musician boyfriend and our two boys. I'm a shameless dilettante - I've dabbled in bellydancing, beading, sketching, photography, watercolor painting -- and get hugely depressed when I am "blocked".

This happens more than I'd like.

I love books that help me see things in new ways and help me tap into the stuff that is stuck behind the blockage -- I've had some great breakthroughs.

I look forward to seeing what books this group loved.

Good to be part of such a well-rounded group of creative souls. I am primarily a writer and poet but have friends in all kinds of creative disciplines, including art, music, acting, teaching, and so on. As for me, this year I completed writing a novel, a book of poetry, and most recently a book of creative nonfcition. I have some writings posted here at Goodreads and just posted a piece on New Orleans in my blog on my MySpace at: http://www.myspace.com/aberjhani where I use the cover from my book as a background image.
