Matt. I just finished silent planet last night. Yeah, it was tough. Took a lot of commitment to keep going, and all that. C'mon, man. Finish up so you can read that "other" book you've been meaning to. (the one with all the pilots and stuff.) :)
I'm about 40 pp or so from the end. I appreciate lots of the ideas but haven't found it gripping.
My problem was, I kept reading it at night in bed. Classic situation, I'd start again the next night and NOTHING I had read the night before looked familiar. A lot of back-tracking.
I'm in the last 1/4th of the book now. I couldn't find my own copy, so I had to order a copy from the library, and then wait for it to be sent to me--hence why I'm a little bit behind!
I'm just slow. No other excuses. :)
A slow reader, that is. Not slow in general.
It was a hard read. Not really a page turner at all but it was still good. I read it rather quickly but I do that with everything I read. I have to pace myself sometimes.
